"I don't go to the gym, I can't smoke in there" John Daly..
The only gym(jim) I know is that guy in the BK drive thru
*Bladder cancer has entered the chat* 😁
A true National Treasure
"I don't work out, I put out" JD
No need for the gym, he always carried a respectable six pack. And so signs of weakness.
the distance he takes that club back is phenomenal. And he still gets the face square. Respect to you Mr Daly.
All in the wrist
blows my mind. he wraps it all the way around his head with the wrist break. then just launches it
Got nothing on bobby jones lol
How do you get to that level ?
It's all about the rhythm. Just say oooonnnnneeee on the backswing and tttttwwwwooo at impact until the club stops at the very end.
Watching this just confirms to me he is one of, if not THE, most naturally talented golfer ever. That swing is so unique - as many have pointed out it’s so “anti-textbook” - almost no “recommended” positions throughout the entire swing - and yet it won multiple majors and tournaments around the world. All on a fraction of the practice and preparation of his contemporaries. He’s an absolute friggin genius.
He swings according to his body makeup, thats it lol
You clearly don’t understand the golf swing 😂😂
Dude is the epitome of a catapult leveraged swing regardless of his body type and "over swing". He swings through like he's hitting over the top but it's not. 😂
He wild 🎉🎉🎉
Watching that gut in slomo is a thing of beauty
hehe :))
😍🥰😘
Keep fighting John..
I love this guy :(
9:00 is truly insane.
The man still clears his hips like McIlroy. Seriously talented golfer. I could watch him strike the ball all day!!
He’s a true natural
you can tell in slow motion. the power in his swing comes from a huge shoulder turn. the transition is a pulling of the left shoulder towards the target. It really looks very graceful, in slow motion.
When your golf instructor tells you to transfer your weight. 👀
One of the most memorable and beautiful swings in golf history
I love his swing. John was the only player back in the 90s to average over 300 yard drives. Today the average is still below that. His short game was amazing too back then.
His swing is a series of “so-called-bad-moves.” Yet, he plays better than 99.999% of golfers out there. Amazing and inspirational at the same time
How can you not love this guy? And a beast of a swing! Driver in slow mo looks like he's swinging a rope he's got so much power! God bless John Daley!
Everyone talks about how far JD hit the ball. What made JD a great golfer was his incredible touch in his short game.
We have few in Arkansas that we truly are proud of. John Daly is definitely top of the list.
Hes from cali?
@@ft9832 Raised in Arkansas, schooled there and currently still lives there.
@@iamliljeffie2305 ohh i see
I think it looks beautiful. All that unwinding reminds me of Ben Hogan, long back swing ftw!
I think the most impressive part of his swing is the fact that it hasn't changed at all as he's "bulked up" 😎/gotten older. It's still just as iconic now as it was in 1991
Daly's swing is synonymous with his personality. You can tell a lot about a person by the way he swings a golf club.
I'm a bit slow and over the top
His hips and knees doing the Elvis shuffle are a thing of beauty. So much power generated and face club square with his right elbow tucked in nicely on the downswing.
His backswing is so long, he has plenty of time to unwind that hip-turn, amazing that he has control.
As a big bloke who struggles with back swing distance this video has helped me a lot.
I love watching his swing
Flat take away. Across the line on the top of back swing. But perfect impact position. John Daly is doing what works for him instead of chasing "the perfect swing". I have so much respect for that. People think his swing is long, but for him it's normal. It's all about timing. If you made his swing shorter it would completely mess up his timing and it would actually make his swing less controllable for him. It's like Montgomery always says: "Take time to complete your swing". And John's swing is not completed until it reaches the final position. That's just how it is.
The man knows his own swing. Fantastic video.
Unreal and phenomenal at the same time....just wow
It's wild how flexible he is
yeah ahah look at the belly on him ahaha
Grip it and rip it
Huh? He’s not flexible at all that’s why he takes the club so far back. His elbows brake on the back swing.
Avionic hahahha right 😂
@@knightimer2 he’s flexible
Truly a work of art both the swing and the editing complication. Everyone mentions the unique back swing and coil, but i think its the low and left throw release coupled with incredible turn that allowed him to be a great. Post impact actually looks alot like DJ or David Duval back in the day.
Just a natural, organic golf swing. Talent
his head stays put. pretty amazing.
What a unreasonble swing
just amazing
you guys are starting to have better content than the PGA tour! Thorough editing job!
best swing and natural talent in golf history, crazy soft hands
Such a great right elbow position at impact
The release at the end of his swing is perfect.
John just happy Gilmores it every time , every thing he has exact same swing, it’s beautiful, he knows when it hits the ball its perfect, one in a million human , wow!
He is a legend!
Grip it and rip it!
Great Music Great Swing Great Guy !
Favourite player to watch
I'm a complete novice still learning to hit the club face centre when swinging, so I'm picking up on what I see from how I swing. I've noticed his stance allows him to keep completely balanced and rotate around by dropping his left knee. Once he's ready to rip it, he stamps his heel to create balance and the rotation is in motion. On top of allowing so much room to rotate, it's simply incredibly how his timing is from backswing to clubface... (timing of hip, back leg rotation, release). After breaking it down like that I can understand where the statement "grip it and rip it" came from. I could be very off, but based from what I've learned, this is an incredible masterclass nonetheless.
Such amazing flexibility and balance for a big guy. really good set of hands too to have that many levers and still get it square at impact. (check out the left elbow snap at release - it's nutty)
Get well soon John.x
His swing is awesome 😎 hall of famer
Always alot of fun to watch play
The swing of a majors winner.
buddy said Daly played in local men's league...I ask "is he warming up on the range before playing?"....no "he's in the bar drinking"
Best swing ever. Perfect
That’s a beautiful swing
So much torque it’s unreal
Insane backswing.
His hips turn forward before the club reaches the end of the backswing. Excellent!
5:50 look at that backswing point. Almost looks like he is inside - out! Amazing how much that swing uncoils.
He bends the left arm sometimes, if you do that it can go further back.
From what I observed keeping the right elbow tucked in on the downswing will help create big power
Seeing his swing in slo-mo makes sense to me now. His belly quickly jerks back. Then, he starts his swing. His belly follows the swing by mere milliseconds! The amount of force his belly adds is amazing! I bet his swing would suffer if he went on a diet.
lots of comments on swing of course,. But i just see a guy hitting the ball naturally, the way he wants and its pure!....2 majors makes him a legend as far as I'm concerned but the way he lived his life, contrary to what was expected makes him even more of a legend!......
I didn't know how much I swing like him until I filmed myself swinging in slow motion and saw this video. It makes sense though since I'm also I bigger and stockier guy
Don't flatter yourself
@@_barncat My swing style is the only similarity. Obviously he's in a whole different realm of skill than I am. Anyways.. for your information I'm not such a bad golfer myself.
@@matthewkeefe3009 lol I was kidding. I'm a fair golfer myself
Anyone knows what is the name of the music playing on this video?. It's really cool?.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better..... John Daly's golf swing in slow motion..............
Best video ever
Man can put his gut into the ball
I imagine his balls speed was in his prime like 124 to 127 he is my golf top 10 to watch all life long I started golfing 2years ago at 43 yrs old. the time I've spend with my kids driving the cart has been well worth the + 10 on 9 holes and +1's on par 4's. thanks for sharing this!!/
Ball speed more like 180 mph. Club head speed 125-130 I reckon.
Dude’s really got a wonderful huge range of motion swing.
He is a beast💪
I swing like this and I’m proud of it
its astonishing that he can square up with an extended swing. so many pros take a 3/4 swing to ensure they hit the ball square
Legend!
He put on weight for distance, Bryson style, before it was cool
John Daily was always cool
That turn!
Trying to add power to my softball swing I came here. I think I'm learning a lot.
Wow is awesome
It's the iron shots that fascinate me
Iconic
"I play better when I drink" -John Daly
Sure the one at 4.15 may not be John 🤔..? Watching from GB , love JD and his swing , he looks to have hardly lost any turn even after all those years ? Golf needs more characters like him , best wishes in your fight John , “Grip it and rip it” 💪🏻👌🏻🏌🏻♂️
What a legend
1:34 best golf swing I've ever seen 👌
The last shot in the video, that was JD putting it 10 yards past tigers drive, when tiger was in his prime :)
Most fun driver to watch, his range of motion is 30% more than most golfers because of his swing mechanics. yet he somehow gets the club on relatively good plane.
It takes so much coordination to swing so far back and still hit it so solid, his big secret is that his arms basically slow down and let the club whip trough , even Tiger said John had more raw talent than he ever had ..
If you have his hip mobility the club falls right back in the slot no matter how far you go. He keeps his head remarkably still and stays very centered throughout the swing.
THE GOAT!
john daly's swing always looked like raw talent and instinct to me and everybody's crazee bouta sharp dressed man!!!
Every American should be as proud as John is to be an American 🇺🇸
despite the distraction of those pants, he still has a beautiful swing. so consistent no matter his weight
John Daley taught me how to golf juggle
how does he hit so square at those angles? I tried at the range and its not easy to get one good hit
Could sb compare and contrast Long John Daly's swing with that of smooth hittin Fred Couples. Watched them in that '99 ww shell golf but couldn't quite put my finger on it
As hard as he hits it the balance is anazing.
I've been playing for a little over a year now and I still can't get rid of my overswing but I manage to close the clubface at impact and get good distance and hit it straight. I wonder if maybe some people just naturally have longer swings.
As long as your weight stays inside the right foot and your head doesn't need to move out of the box it was in at address (and will be in at impact) , then the further your body allows you to go the better!
He does everything you're not supposed to do. Makes a mockery of golf lessons.
Grip it and rip it, your the man
He lifts his left heel to help get that insane shoulder rotation in his backswing.
Facinating to watch, in many ways. But don't confuse a flying right elbow and a folding left arm with flexibility or above average backswing turn.
He does fold his left arm a bit at the top, but his torso is already rotated about 120 degrees at that point...
But you are right that he's using a flying elbow and bend in his left arm to keep the club going back while the rest of his body is starting the downswing.
he still holds a football field goal record as a kicker during his time in Jeff City, also where he picked up his smoking habit one summer in high school #Helias

Crazy, his swing totally breaks all the rules, takes it way inside on the takeaway but still doesn't slice.
man... I really do swing like Daly...
Gets to his left side and clears well for a big man!
8:39 greatest moment in any sport ever,
Tiger once said john is the best at never training but if he did train he'D be the best there ever was and would set records never to be touched
good
Best. Pose. Ever.
I never realized how large his mid section is ....wow
