I’ve been diligently working, saving and contributing towards financial freedom and early retirement, but the economy so far since the pandemic has eaten away most of my portfolio, what I want to know is this: Do I keep contributing to my portfolio in these unstable markets or do I look into alternative sectors.

Just try to diversify your portfolio to other market sectors, that way your investment is balanced and you don’t get to make so much losses.

My job doesn’t permit me the time to properly analyze my holdings/evaluate stocks myself, so I’ve had a fiduciary actively restructuring my portfolio for the past 7 years now to match the present market condition and that’s how I’ve been able to stay afloat, knowing when to buy and sell…maybe you should do the same.

50 now, and everything is paid for. Fortunately, I had a college economics teacher who taught me a lesson when I was 18 years old. That lesson was: you can't buy something else for every purchase you make. Having multiple sources of income is prudent, as is living within your means. I have a 13-year-old vehicle because it is all I need, I like it, and I can do whatever I want with it. My net worth is $4 million, and I can pay my bills without stress, but I don't live like I have that. I have no complaints.

Am 58 retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. True, It has never been easier to understand how to build your money after retirement than it is right now with the inflation, when you may study and experience a completely variegated market passively by employing a successful portfolio-advisor. The impacts of the U.S. dollar's gain or fall on investments, in my opinion, are complex.

My original retirement plan was to retire at 40, work part-time, and save money. However, high prices for everything have severely affected my plan. I'm concerned if people who went through the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am having now. The stock market is worrying me as my income has decreased, and I fear I won't have enough savings for retirement since I can't contribute as much as before.

It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of investing in the stock market and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.

At the very least, I now grasp the concept of leverage. Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely.

Most people simply enter the foreign exchange market without comprehending matters like this. The first stage in building money is determining your goals and risk tolerance, which you may do on your own or with the assistance of a financial counselor who works with a verified Finance agency. I’d be retiring or working less in 8 years, and considering this financial recession, I’m deciding to begin taking up skilled trades. I’m curious to know best how people spilt their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn about $140k per year but nothing to show for it yet.

Very true, I find myself lucky enough exposed to money management at an early age. Worked full time when I was 19, purchased first home at 28, fast forward time…. I’m 57 now, got laid off March 2020 amidst lockdown, a blessing in disguise. At once I consulted an advisory firm to match me with a planner to stay afloat and with subsequent investments, I’m only 15% short of $1m as of today.

Hi Sharan, this is way helpfull, having said that, many people are telling about investment now a days, but its really hard to identify the right platform / partner who will guide to do the investment, that is Asset Allocation and track the investments, especially the person like me who is not from finance background. Suggest to do a video on that. we are hearing many fintech apps now a days where we can quickly invest but who will guide me the where to invest and how to diversify etc.

Currently I’m holding and investing in multiple profitable assets like stocks, cryptos, REITS, and I also utilize a proper managerial process to make the most profits from my investments.

Diversification is definitely key, a lot of people think having an account where you put money aside on a monthly basis is actually investing, but they don't know that that is just saving!
Investing means long term, it means exposing your funds into different asset classes and not just cash but rather inflation beating asset classes. It's a process and it takes patience.

Here is a formula I use:
      50%(Fixed Costs)
      10%(Guilt-Free Spending)
      30%(Investing)
      10%(Savings)
Let's say I earn Rs 50K per month after taxes from my source(s) of income:
50% of Rs50K = Rs25K will be for fixed costs like rent, food, internet, etc.
10% of Rs50K = Rs5K will be for whatever I want, e.g., buy a new pair of shoes.
30% of Rs50K = Rs15K will be for investment. This should be automatic. It will go into ETF/Index funds.
10% of Rs50K = Rs5K will be into my savings account
      Keep it simple :)
