Thank you for this tutorial, have been trying to learn double lifts for a new trick but they always looked obvious, this looks really clean and is pretty easy
my begginer double lift is a "quadriple lift" ^^
Just starting with card tricks, for me it's like a "pick a number from 3 to 10"-lift :D

This Double Lift is a good start but you should mention that when dropping the double you shouldn't drop it like a plank. It should be done smoothly and without too much consideration showing others that you're not attempting to pull a move over. Strike double lifts are where I started.
You made it look way easier then it actually is. I have yet to do any card trick properly without people being able to print it out.

Somehow I found the beginning of this video extremely amusing and funny. "Jack of clubs and now its..." (You'd expect him to say three of hearts but no) "changed" as his voice just stays meh.

I use a slight variation of this, I pivote the cards in a more natural way, but indeed, this is the basic of the basics of the Double Lift !!!

The secret is.... Practice. It seems like it's quite hard, but if you keep a pack of cards on you and practice the move when you have a spare moment, it really doesn't take long to learn this. And once you've mastered it, you can do a couple of quite impressive tricks. Definitely worth the effort

My cards are so smooth they kind of run off each other, any tips to help work with this? :))
I shuffle mine alot before working with them. After about 100 shuffles it takes some of the slipperiness off. But you are right, a new deck is like ice. If You keep at it eventually you can do it with a new deck. Its mind numbingly boring at times but practice practice, etc etc, makes perfect. I prefer to do the lift by the sides, like turning a page in a book. It looks cleaner and with slippery cards I feel they stay together easier. I know you post is old but hope that helps

For starting in learning magic, you can't go wrong with Bicycle cards red or blue, you can get a pack of 12 on Amazon for a very reasonable price, or just buy them individually :)

I'm right handed and hold the cards with my left hand like you. I've just started but is this what right handed people do? Use your less skilled hand as the deck controll. Thanks.
bit of a late reply but yes that is very normal. But i'm right handed in everything and have always held cards in my right (which is how left handed people would hold them) but do what is comfortable. if you just do the standard shuffle if your right hand is doing the shuffling and left hand is holding them then you're orthodox. hope that helps
