Don't forget the brief blip of three months in 2017, they went from Impact Wrestling to Global Force Wrestling back to Impact Wrestling. Impact merged with Jeff Jarrett's GFW. They went back to Impact Wrestling due to Jarrett leaving the company.

the announcers were Mike Tenay (who was an O.G WcW guy) and the other guy was Don West who was known for late night infomercials selling baseball cards. Those 2 were the heart on TNA. Mike is m.i.a no and sadly Don West passed earlier this year.

TNA's ring was a hexagon from 2004 to 2010. It was quite unique and never should've changed, I think they continued using it in special events after 2010. A downside of a hexagon ring is that the ring is smaller and gives less making bumps much more painful.
TNA Does still exist though it was rebranded as IMPACT wrestling and is a shadow of its former self

You know they could've had Paul Heyman instead. but He wanted full control and everyone on the roster over 40 fired which would've been a very good thing to do. but TNA wouldn't have it
I wonder what might have happened to TNA if they went with Heyman

    • @TheMrCC21

Jeff Jarrett worked for AAA and got the idea for the six-sided from them. There were some who complained about the six-sided ring. Some of the issues were harder to adapt to, hard on the body, the four corners. Sting was happy when it was gone. But other were pissed such as AJ Styles. On an edition WWE's "Table for Three," he said it made them different to what other companies were doing, loved the look, it was MMA. Once Kurt Angle adapted to it, he loved it. Made the matches faster and whatnot. Booker T. didn't like it was gone. He said he was taking many bumps and doing any high flying. So it wasn't a big deal.
If you liked it, you can blame Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff for getting rid of the six-sided ring. They did use the six-sided ring again. But when Don Callis and Scott D'Amore became executive vice presidents they went back to the traditional ring.

The special match you were watching, is called an “Ultimate X Match”. A marquee letter “X” on a chain from a movie theater sign is hung from the center of an X-shaped frame. Cables underneath the frame are installed. The wrestlers in the match have to climb to the top rope corner, then move across the cable to get to the center, to retrieve the “X” to win the match. Sometimes, a championship belt(s) are put there instead, with the winner of the match becoming the champion. If other wrestlers are also on the cables, they try to knock them down, to get free clearance to get to the “X” or championship belt(s). More often, they all fall back to the ring floor.

TNA was nuts! Early AJ Styles, early Samoa Joe, prime Jeff Hardy, Prime Kurt Angle, Cristian, RVD, Rhino, Bobby Lashley, Jeff Jarrett, Dudlez. Those are just the names non-TNA fans would know.
Then you got Beer Money, Abyss, Suicide *also know as TJP,* The Motercity Machine Guns, Aces and 8s. I could go on and on.
But nope, once Hogan went over, shit hit the fan. He wanted the show about younger talent being about him now.

TNA/Impact was an excellent wrestling alternative in their early years in the 2000s, especially their X Division (the small flippy guys akin to cruiserweights/junior heavyweights).
The issues were the lack of a good business model and executive meddling and turnover; weakness in their top heavyweight division; an over reliance on stars from other companies that weren't in their prime or just wanting to collect a paycheck until WWE welcomed them back; a failure to reward loyal talents who'd be considered homegrown (AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Chris Daniels, etc); and becoming obsessed with competing with WWE, at one point positioning their #1 cable program against WWE Raw on Mondays.
After years of financial bootstrapping, Impact settled back down into a niche and has received a good amount of praise again. Almost every pro wrestling fan has at some time expected this company to fold but good on them for maintaining.

I'm not saying he was as good as those guys (though I personally believe he was better than Hogan or Cena ever were), but thats how important he was to the company. TNA is still around - it just changed its name to Impact Wrestling in 2017. It's no where near this good though - these were the glory years (2004 - 2010). • @LaptopLarry330
      @LaptopLarry330 Před 10 měsíci

IMPACT! Wrestling is currently a Canadian-owned promotion. They do their best to hold pay-per-view events in US cities, but every so often during the year, they have to hold pay-per-view events in Canadian cities.
With the demise of Maple Leaf Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling in Canada, there is no longer an institutional memory of how to operate a promotion successfully there. Scott D’Amore, despite the controversial history that surrounds him, does have a history and understanding of the promotion, and that is why the current ownership hired him to run the promotion behind the scenes. D’Amore has had to start from scratch, and has used his connections in the professional wrestling industry to try to bring in talents that can create interest in the promotion, and to generate a satisfactory pay-per-view buy rate. Eventually, D’Amore has to find a way to promote and elevate the younger wrestlers on his roster, and that is not going to be an easy thing to do.

He was there from 2002 to a few years before he went to wwe in 2016. Original tna isnt around anymore because they didnt have the money. The were bought out by different companies, that didn't like what you are seeing here, got rid of most of it and rebranded to impact wrestling. The wrestlers have full control over their matches, characters and storylines but that's all secondary, they really give a shit about their performances and give it their best every night. These are the wrestlers who do it for the love of wrestling, not to be rich and famous, most of these wrestlers wouldn't sign with WWE for any amount of money, some have been there and regret it.
