My husband and I got married in 2017 and paid everything ourselves, no family/friend help. We spent roughly $4,000 total on our wedding which $1,200 was our rental for the reception and we also had an open bar which was roughly $800. My wedding dress was on sale for $300 and we did a buffet of all food we made that day / the day before. all decorations and everything was set up by my husband and our family even though we werent supposed to see each other the morning of. we did anyways and got everything done. Our wedding had about 80 guests. IT IS POSSIBLE just stressful. I was working fulltime in a very stressful job while doing all this ontop so make sure to take some time out for yourself.

Hi there! So I had a question (may seem like a dumb one) but, for all of these envelopes you have cash, I'm assuming when you go to pay your phone bill for example or Spotify you would put the cash into your card and pay exactly what you have correct? I'm trying to start budgeting and I'm trying to see which method would work best for me.
Most people will keep online purchases on the card and pay through online. You pull out money for things like groceries, gas, anything you can go into the store and purchase.

Strange question - if you put the cash in envelopes, what happens to bills that are paid online? Do you just put the money back in the bank?
Katie Feyh you can leave the money in the account or take it out and deposit it before the bill is due (that way you don’t forget to set the money aside for it)
If you notice, her categories that are the “cash” arent the automatic bills. Theyre either daily spending or money she gives to her parents for whatever plans she on with them. Otherwise the actual “bills” are under the transfer section, so they stay fully in the bank she just transfers them to where they get taken out of
Gotcha - thank you both. I'll have to find a system that works for us. Most of our bills, like rent and credit card bills and all that jazz are payments done through online payments.
I’ve noticed that a lot of these videos, nobody puts money into savings. Is that just not shown?
She normally does...usually hers is labeled school but now she is doing wedding.
Correct, wedding is the category I’m saving for now. I’ve heard Dave Ramsey recommend you people getting married to save up for a wedding and pause all other savings (after the $1000 emergency fund) so you can avoid going into any further debt (or any debt at all) for a wedding.
In general also, I’ve heard its better to save for something specific when needed (rather than just hoarding money for no reason) because just saving money randomly will 1) increase the chances of it being spent on random things as theres no goal that its being “taken away from” (for example saving for a specific thing like a vacation will motivate someone to not use that money for clothes because it means theyll have less money for vacation). And 2) It makes you put money in the best place it should go, because if you dont need to save for anything specific your money works a lot better being invested in something rather than sitting there.

It is real but it isnt diamond (its not meant to be fake or anything). She just chose to use an alternative stone called moissanite which is much more affordable but still very hefty and has many other benefits.
