- In this building a house episode we have to prepare our house before the Michigan winter hits. We begin the process mid-fall because we are leaving for our 30 day honeymoon in just 3 days. That means we need to put up the tongue and groove in our cathedral ceiling, get the blown-in insulation in and pour our driveway before the weather gets too cold and starts cracking our drywall and driveway. We don't want to turn the heat on until we get the insulation in because it will just escape our roof without the insulation and continue to blow up our heating bill. Watch along to see if we get everything done before we leave or wind up with cracked insulation and driveway. Join us along on our journey as we build our own house from scratch!

Goodness, where to begin haha. First of all truly stunning Wedding pics, you both looked great, it seems you both clean up rather well 🙂 As others have said 15k for the driveway was a very good price well done. I laughed when you commented about putting the batts in the wrong way out, as when I was doing my attic I starting putting the insulation in, completely forgetting to go up and air seal the plumbing stack and any other pipes, wires or ceiling light fixtures that penetrate the attic floor and partition and exterior wall top plates etc..etc... pain in the butt but someone has to do. Keep up the amazing work, Mr and Mrs haha...
Thanks BKK we appreciate it, we look a little better not covered in saw dust and dirt haha 😆 oh noo that sounds even worse! Did you insulate and now you have to go through and find all the holes? That would be terrible 😭but at least you know it will be done right in the end!
@@FarisandLisa A little better haha, love the modesty 😁 I was lucky as I was not using blown in and didn't get too far down the road before realizing although I put my soffit baffles in, I forgot the spray foam, oh well all's well that ended well.. looking forward to your next video... take care.✌

Congrats, how did you like London? House looks great! 15k for the driveway sounds like a great price too. I’m surprised you insulated your house. Normally there is not much of a price difference in a insulation contractor vs doing it your self. Also when running flooring or any type of planking. Try to keep the butt joints at least 16” apart from each row. Your mom and aunt where funny. You guys are doing a great job.
Thank you so much!! We loved London, the old pubs were great! And yes we definitely got a good deal. Yea we estimated a few thousand savings for the insulation. We probably wouldn’t do it again, but it was a good learning experience 😊 thanks for the tip, we will keep that in mind, we’ve got a lot of flooring to do 😆
How wide did you go in the turn around and how big did you make your garage? My husband and I are wondering this for our future build.
Did you put baffles in the attic before you did the blown in insulation? I couldn't tell. That's an important step that you don't want to miss!
Yes we did put baffles in the attic, we did it before the drywall came in! You can find that part in our insulation video 😊

The main floor of our home is 2800, so the basement would make it almost double.
