Didn’t they use any rebar in the cement?
@@brent9393 you can see the rebar in the cement when they are pouring
Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦 nicely done ✔ 👏 .
Me and my family have never had a place called home 🏡 we have never had a house of our own n it's painful to see ppl build while we cnt do so
@@layasharmaine7692 if you are still fairly young you still have your whole life ahead of you. Never say never.🙏
with this money you can buy a mansion in Uzbekistan

Then don’t watch it. Kinda weird to complain about it when it’s free to watch
It is an absolute joy to see someone realising their dream home. May you guys live always happy ever after.
But unfortunately they picked a bad state to do it in. Rising crime in the Detroit area, drug & human trafficking due to Michigan being near Canada and stay at home orders during pandemic. Terrible leadership in Michigan plus it gets cold and homes have high radon exposure.
Imagine 5-10 years from now, God forbid, but with the rising crime and when virus comes back. #FloridaGang
I really love and appreciate the fact that you gave price on the things you did, such a small detail yet to me it makes a big difference and its something that I've never seen before!
yes! love the way they presented the step by step with costs and times! great production!
That was fantastic! Thank you for sharing your build with us, it answers so many questions people may have about time frames, costs, the multitude of services required, to build a home. I hope this video blows up for your channel, the content, for me anyways, is priceless...
Thank you so much for the kind words!! It was our goal to share the building process details so people could figure out if it’s for them!
I'm one of the few who build in steelframe and wood frame in Brazil, I love the way you guys build, my dream is to be able to travel to your country one day and learn more. Beautiful job. congratulations!
We would love to have you come to America and visit Ricardo! I hope one day I can come to Brazil too! Take care!
Truss flying day is always so exciting. That's when the house really takes shape.
Lisa and Farsi this is by far the one of the best build time-lapses I have seen! Great production 😀. Question: 1) how did you do your septic and 2) will you do kinda an overall Q& A about your experience?
Thank you so much!! That means tons to us. Septic has not gone in yet so we will let you know 😊and yes we would definitely like to do a live Q&A soon!
Nice deforestation homie
Just found your page, y'all are super adorable! Thanks for the entertainment ❤ sending blessings from Long Beach CA
Thank you so much for the kind words! That means a ton ☺️
Retainer against the earth fill later and yet the footing is so small like for a single story house. Amazing!
No rebar connection between footings and basement walls??
Saw that myself, thought I just missed it
You already have a floating slab, might as well have floating walls too
If you look, there is a key way.
first thing i looked for in the comments, if anyone else had noticed
added letter D among the commenter's profile letter😂😂😂
I'm happy for you, it's a very nice build. I was doing the same thing when I first moved out here in the Rockies, then cancer hit, and everything slowed to a craw.
I watched the video and thought-what beautiful weather! It can’t be Michigan 😂then I saw the snow! We do get nice weather sometimes I guess! We are building as well on the west side of the state near Grand Rapids. We are back filling today! Great job on the video!
Awesome! Thank you. what stage are you guys in now?
Our minimum width for 2 story is 24”x 14” deep; 3-#4 rebar’s in the footings and 24” OC ties. But seems like your house is stamped and county/city approved so enjoy your house and fill it up with kids to raise your family. :)
hi Faris and Lisa, its amazing to see how you guys build your own house. i am based out of canada, and looking to do same stuff. can you advise how you guys planned and selected contractors especially for wood and framing work. did you guys have any contacts that you might want to share?
when you see someone who has succeeded in making his dream come true. how happy it feels to see it. even though it has not been achieved in my life😊. have a happy day guys for all of us.
Yes👍🥰
Wow going to be a hell of a great house, nice location too!!!
Thank you!! We can’t wait to move in 😁
Awesome video! Your work is amazing!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
Most of the costs listed in this video didn't seem too excessive (given the current market conditions), however I was shocked that it cost that much to have the well drilled. I might have expected a couple thousand, but $11k raised my eyebrows. Beautiful home. Thanks for sharing!
The well is 125ft deep which is deeper than your average, which brought that price up! Wish it was lower along with the rest of the house haha! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
God it’s so good to see your channel taking off! I remember when y’all first bought the camper van. Love y’all ❤
Adam, thank you for supporting us from day 1. We always appreciate your comments!!
New subscriber from the UK. Loved that. It’s going to be stunning
Thank you!! Appreciate the follow and kind words 😊
🏡✨🎉 What a beautiful journey to witness! Building your dream home is an incredible accomplishment. However, I'm curious about the challenges and potential setbacks that may arise during such a project. Were there any unexpected hurdles that you had to overcome? It would be fascinating to delve into the behind-the-scenes stories and learn how you persevered to create this amazing custom home.
Wow nice build and great budget! It will never cease to amaze me how inexpensive it can be building vs buying thanks for sharing❤
Where is the iron rod for supporting the quake?? So much of wood used..
How tall did you make the finished ceilings in the basement? Would you have changed anything to the basement now that; that part is done?
Thank you for putting the cost so I can get an idea myself 😊
It's going to be beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Who drew up your plans/drawings? I didn't see that on the cost list.
Thank you so much! My dad is a builder so we worked with him to draw up the plans. Luckily we got the family deal
Awesome! It's crazy how high some prices are in different states.
That’s amazing you did all that in 14 minutes
Great build! I’ve built several houses and this looks amazing
very different approach to the containers walls, would love to see it after some years
I helped build the pyramids and I can spot good work when I see it. This house is never going to fall over unless military equipment is used.
I heard you were once spotted during the rise of the colosseum.
I poured basement walls as a young man. Stripping those forms, pulling them up to the top of the wall, turning around and then dropping them back into the inside of the basement was no joke. Hardest labor I've ever done.
We can’t even imagine, those forms looked so heavy and especially in the heat!
@FarisandLisa They're aluminum, but the 9' wall panels are still 120 to 130 lbs or more. They nail in those wooden boxes to create cutouts, pockets, and stepdowns for beams and things. If they nail through a "hat section" of the panel, then it leaves a hole and concrete seeps through those holes into the panel during subsequent pours, making them even heavier. After pulling 30 or 40 of them you feel wiped out.
@FarisandLisa And pulling one up over a wall on a windy day can be terrifying. They're veritable parachutes in the wind. Take you right off the wall.
Is there any video of the final look? How did it actually come out from inside and outside? It would have been pleasant to watch the end result. Nonetheless, good luck to you guys.
Amazing vid! This might be a long shot but by any chance you would be willing to share the plans to build this house? Looking to build something alike in my home country
Hi Drilon! We don’t have anything out yet but yes we are considering sharing it! Good luck on your build 😊
@@FarisandLisa lovely! Cheers
I love videos like this especially in the beginning stages were the house looks like popsicle sticks 😂
In 14 minutes, 3 4 weather seasons have been changed 😅 Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter😁.... Very well captured 👏👍
Crazy too see how they built a home like this in just 4 months
Its made of wood, so
Wow amazing work i want to get my GC license and i’m learning more and more thank you gor sharing!!
How come no rebar in the wall?
Hi Michael, there is horizontal rebar all throughout the wall. next video we will highlight it.
this is so sick. well done guys
Documenting your costs added an interesting dimension to your build. Thanks. Didn't know you could find that much timber in the Bloomfield area. Cheers
Dang, where we live we are building a house that is only about 2500 sq ft total and it’s going to cost close to 400k. I wish we could build a home that looked as nice as yours for around that price! Good video thank you.
Cool! 😎👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Would a gravel layer around the foundation walls been sensible to remove moisture and help create drainage barrier?
May want to consider it.
Incredible
Great video..
How come there was no rebar(upright) coming out of the footing to tie into the basement walls ?
Hi RJ, We used a key way to tie it in and horizontal rebar in the walls.
Congratulations 🎊 👏
Great .. and you earn millions of love 💕 💕
blessings be on you and your house
They didn’t used any metal rod for concrete wall and floor. Its very inefficient and will collapse with a slight earthquake.
Why are there no reinforcement for the underground retaining wall, footing, etc.
No inspections or permits I imagine.
I had the same question.
She said there were steel beams
(Probably after many years of testing and building this system is now a proven and fully effective design)
@@crazyfrank3866 it appears to be a fully (timber only) construction. Popular in the USA apparently…
I can't believe that 2x speed machine and the workers was inside our earth🌎🌎,
I'm very happy to wacthing this video real amazing
You know you got good framers when they’re carrying a Martinez hammer in their tool belt.
Hahah so true!!
God bless your family ❤😊
superb house,
magnificent work of the builders, I hope you will be happy in it, I have a quick question, why do you use wood for your houses? I am French and in France we are more adept at reinforced concrete than wood, especially for load-bearing walls, so when France is much less subject to hurricanes or tornadoes, for example my house is made of reinforced concrete from the basement to the second floor
Awesome project
I just found your channel. Awesome video ❤❤❤
just found yous looking great more content plz
Thank you! Yes working on it 😊
No soil compaction or isolation barriers between dirt and concrete. That’s insane. Best of luck
Wow ❤❤ i hope soon my dream new house😊
I just got home from school lol 😮
Amazing build!!!
Great time lapse
Thanks. Is the foundation cost including the basement walls ?
And those cost with or without labor? I mean did all those guys contractors or yourself n family
Nice build. 👍👍👍
Lisa can you please make a video on process steps of getting permissions and permits including construction loans to start of work
Did they use a concrete vibrator poker to condense and remove air bubbles when pouring for your basement walls? It didn't look like they did in the video.
As someone who lives in a country where we believe in bricks/stone and concrete let me ask this. What's the difference between this and ours in terms of cost, I won't ask about durability coz bricks, motor and concrete will definitely win.
From what I know it's about 1/4 cheaper but you could probably fact check on Google for your area
Why apply waterproofing blocks after soul covered the concrete foundation? Would be better to do it prior and apply to greater surface?
Amazing is home 👍
Thank you!! 😊
@@FarisandLisa , yes , 👍
Curious the concrete basement walls were not waterproofed before filling in the dirt, I wonder if that’s normally how it’s done.
It is waterproofed. Note the Black foundation coating and the black dimpled plastic moisture barrier.
How long did that take in real time? And it's still not ready to move in? Here in South Carolina they can put up a house in 3 months once the land is cleared. 4 months total to occupation.
Contractors can turn an old golf course into a new subdivision in 8 to 10 months. Homes ready to sell.
were there any obstacles / difficulties building in cold weather ?
THE VIDEO IS AMAZING. THANKS FOR SHARING. SAD IT DIDN'T HAVE A TO BE CONTINUED LOL
Thank you!! And hahah oh man you’re right, we should’ve put that in!
We just found your channel and it's awesome! We are in the process of building on the West side of MI and we are planning to chronicle our progress. We sent you an email and would love for your professional advice. Thank you!
Hey Matt, congratulations on your new build! Hope the email helps, but you can find our camera gear linked in the description as well!
nice vid
Thank you!
Now this makes me really want to make a company when I’m older after high-school and startup an architect firm or construction company.
Than better learn the correct way for building houses. Not like this one. Canadian and Skandinavien Standard and style. Not this hot dog Shops.

You sound American.
A dude sitting in his moms basement somehow knows more than professionals who have been doing this for many many years.
This comment exudes white American, it’s either our way or else……
Very nice view
Was a Geo-Engineer involved at all? I would be worried about compaction densities for the soil that was only pushed into place and only excavated not rolled or anything else.
and drainage around the basement :-)
Yes a geo engineer was involved in all of our plans. We spent months during this process to ensure everything was done correctly!
Yes there is drainage around the basement! I will note for the next Timelapse to include more of it 😊
Nice place
Concrete wall no rebar inside?
Wow, I realize that land may be cheaper where you are, but how the heck did a gravel driveway only cost $2K and the electrical hookup only cost $1K?! I feel like the cost of the trades alone would be 5x-10x higher in Canada 😢
All that stress condensed into 14 minutes!😉
No need piling to avoid soil movement?
Amazing Build, Who's the builder if I may ask. We are looking to build something similar in Detroit Metro Area too. Would appreciate any info..
Hi Raj, Thank you! We are the builders, with the guidance of Lisa's dad who is a custom home builder in the area. If you are interested send us a message on Instagram @farisandlisa and we would be happy to help.
how many vans you were traveling around in would fit in your beautiful home? I sure miss your van travel and where you found those yummy places you ate at
How close are those high voltage power lines?
About 300+ ft. There are about 1 1/2 acres of woods between us.
@@FarisandLisa Have you researched what a safe distance to live next to power lines? 700 feet is what I kept seeing as a safe distance. Is the electric utility going to be installing more power lines? If I can see the lines, I wouldn't have even bought the property.
I’m an electrician and they are totally fine at that distance as the magnetic waves won’t even come close to the house. Also, they will of course need to run power to the house. This will be accomplished on poles with a service drop or dug underground. Either way, you have to physically get wires to the house.
@@esl4058 Thanks for the expert response ESL. We had DTE (Our local energy company) run lines underground.
Glad y’all put in a real basement
Us too! Got some fun plans for it!
What is the square footage top and for the bottom each?
It’s 2800 sf on the top and then pretty close to the same in the basement
Question: I like those prefab steel walls, but did not see stacks of rebar everywhere to keep it very strong - Also NO rebar in your concrete floor, good luck..
They laid horizontal rebar in as they were pouring the walls. We did not capture it properly. if you look closely it is on the ground
Why does the picture show leaves but the video snow, same stage of the build?
Only $333k for 2,800 plus basement? That is mind blowing. In NC this would be 2x-4x more expensive.
Hey loved the video, was wondering how much the engineering and blueprint cost to make?
I would like to know too
Hey dude those foundation wells are no bueno. What is tying the wall into the footing…..?
Hi Michael, they are tied in with a keyway.
Where did you buy a land for 63k??? Which city/state if you mind to share. Thanks
With that budget in my country you can build a 5 bedroom mansion with a pool😂
That's a great house. Love it.
I have one question is there's steel rebars on the column wall or not ??
5:04 tell me the whole house is not only on those couple of thin vertical wooden beams.
No there are steel beams and columns underneath
I swore I spent more than 1 million dollars, how good it is to see the rich live
