Dr. Ali Ataie examines the etymologies and meanings of some of the names of God found in the Hebrew Bible and the Qur'an. His talk attempts to answer: Who is Allah? Do Muslims and Jews (and Christians) worship the same God? What is the greatest name of God? What is the personality of the biblical and Qur’anic God?

@@busterbiloxi3833 Dr Bart Erhman is not a theologian. He is a philologist. He studies how ancient texts were put together. Dr Ataie knows in detail the knowledge that philologists produce but that's not what he specializes in. He is a comparative theologian. He knows the content of different theologies, their history and meaning. In that field, Dr Ataie is vastly superior to Erhman. Ataie knows ancient Greek, Hebrew, latin and arabic. The different interpretations, schools of thought and the intellectual history of the different religions. So you're comparing two different specialties but in the end Ataie is vastly more knowledgeable that Erhman. Erhman is more well known because he is an not a Muslim, he is an atheist debunking Christian myths. A Muslim comparative theologian cannot be more popular in the US than an atheist philologist that debunks Christian myths.

@@karimb972 Dr. Ataie, an effective polemicist, is a committed Muslim who seeks to prove what he has already concluded based on blind faith. His methods are unsound. The Muslim word needs an Ehrman-type de-bunker, but will never permit it. Instead, the Muslim world assassinates and silences all rational inquiry and legitimate mockery: Rushdie, Mahfuz, Charlie Hebdo. You Muslims threaten violence against unbelievers and your myths are just that: unverified myths.

*BY THE FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM*
Thanks to Saul aka Paul the Feroci0us W0LF in SHEEP'S clothing whom Jesus WARNED about, it's Christianity / Christians making a 🚩 *LIAR of Jesus of the Bible* till the end of times. The Bible testifies 🔥
      1)
✔️ Jesus: THE FATHER IS THE ONLY TRUE GOD.
✖️ Christians: NO. The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (The Trinity) is the true God.
      2)
✔️Jesus: NO payment needed, NO Jesus died for us. Just repent sincerely and the Merciful God (THE ONLY TRUE GOD - THE FATHER) forgives.
✖️ Christians: NO. Salvation comes by the blood of Jesus and his dying on the cross
      3)
✔️ Jesus: Keep the Laws and the commandments if you want eternal life
✖️ Christians: NO. Eternal life comes by faith in the sacrifice of Jesus
      4)
✔️ Jesus: Do NOT neglect even the smallest laws
✖️ Christians: NO. Those laws are unimportant
      5)
✔️ Jesus: I was sent ONLY for the lost sheep of Israel
✖️ Christians: NO. Jesus came for us all, Jesus came for all of mankind
      *********************
THE ONLY TRUE GOD - THE FATHER, has left the previous scriptures in such a state to expose and destroy EACH and EVERY fundamental doctrine of Christianity or whatever YOU wanna call YOUR faith. Each and every fundamental doctrine of Christianity UNFORTUNATELY is an ABOMINATION to both Jesus as well as THE ONLY TRUE GOD - THE FATHER. The Bible testifies 🔥
*THE ONLY TRUE GOD - THE FATHER has left the previous scriptures in such a state to back up HIS true believers - The Muslim - the TRUE defenders of the true honor and status and doctrine of Jesus AGAINST the falsehoods which UNFORTUNATELY, misguided by false teachers, Christians attribute to Jesus*
THE ONLY TRUE GOD - THE FATHER REVIVED HIS message by sending His Prophet of Deuteronomy 18 V 18-19 Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) - bringing up a nation 1.5 BILLION+ to DEFEND the true honor and status and doctrine of Jesus the Messiah (peace be upon him) against the falsehoods which the Jews as well as the Christians attribute to Jesus.
It's the Brotherhood of Prophethood which the scriptures honor and protect against the lies of the transgressors.
And on the Brotherhood of Prophethood, the chain of Prophethood:
EVEN as per the NT, Jews awaited the arrival of three distinct luminaries. NO WONDER they inquired of John the Baptist:
      👉 Are you Elijah?
      👉 Are you Christ?
      👉 Are you the Prophet?
      1) Elijah 👉 John the Baptist (peace be upon him), NOT an incarnation of Prophet Elijah (peace be upon him) BUT in the spirit and authority of Prophet Elijah (peace be upon him)
      2) Christ 👉 Jesus (peace be upon him)
      3) The Prophet 👉 The Prophet of Deuteronomy 18 V 18-19 Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
THE ONLY TRUE GOD - THE FATHER has left the previous scriptures with an inbuilt system for course correction or destruction depending upon what someone chooses. Of course the scriptures admonish the deniers who see it right in front but yet deny.

coming apart from fear of Allah . And these examples We present to the people that perhaps
they will give thought . He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen
and the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. He is Allah, other than
whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the
Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever
they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong

@@jackjill3205 Just because Allah has it's roots in alaha in Aramaic doesn't prove Muhammad was a true prophet from Yahweh, this is the nice Islamic missionary way to show a connection with the Jewish scriptures and Allahwith Elah but this means nothing at all because they are from the same tribal families, so their languages are similar, Muslims have to actually prove that Muhammad wasn't making stuff up by borrowing from Jewish legends, legends he thought were the true Biblical stories until he found out they weren't that he was told only Jewish legends, then Muhammad started accusing the Jews of deception and writing the scriptures with their own hands.
Muhammad actually failed the Jewish test he was given by the Jews, they wanted to see if he was truthful and asked him certain hidden questions but the answers was in their minds, so if Muhammad was a true prophet receiving divine revelation then Allah would've told Muhammad their secret thoughts answering their questions.
Muhammad answer to the first question, about what the ruach, spirit was revealed in this Quran verse as his answer.
"The spirit," its knowledge is with my Lord; and of knowledge you (mankind) have been given only a Little." (Qur'an 17.85) If We pleased We could take away what We have revealed to you. Then you will not find any one to plead for it with Us, (17.86)
      quranx.com/tafsirs/17.85
Strange answer, basically Muhammad said, I don't know, only God knows, then comes the strange threat, instead of answering the question Muhammad answers it with, well I don't know only Allah knows then we could just take away your revelation.
So like any other person who's questioned after making incredible statements, like Gods speaking through me, if they are lying they then can't answer then reply with their mind games plus with threats coming supposedly from God.
Example: I ask someone who's claiming to be in contact with God about Nuclear Physics and they say only God knows then say you try and test God, he will destroy you, these are simple mind games false people play.
The Jews then asked him, who told you this ? Muhammad said Gabriel brought it to me from Allah, then the Jews said this to Muhammad.
They said, `By Allah, no one has told you that except our enemy.
So the Jews said by Allah, whoever told you this is our enemy, so his answer to them was a lie, he didn't have the knowledge to answer a simple hidden question , so they said, whoever brought this answer doesn't know & can't even answer a simple question about the ruach.
This isn't an answer it's a admittance that I have no clue what your talking about because the Jews didn't give him the context of what they were referring to, so Muhammad failed the first question & test, Allah should've known their thoughts, & according to the answer, it was a Qur'an revelation from God but God supposedly says the knowledge is only with my Lord alone.
It's like someone says God's speaking to me giving me revelation and I ask what am I thinking ? and his response is, only God knows what your thinking he's already failed this simple test.
The story goes deeper with the other questions that Muhammad failed to answer even telling them I will tell you tomorrow, then taking 15 days and giving the Jews who asked about Jewish history, Muhammad gives an answer about Christian history or stories from the past Christians were telling about their religion, the people in the cave & the dog but the Jews were not asking a question about Christianity & Christian history but they were asking about the 3 lads in Jewish history their stories but since Muhammad had no clue what he's doing, he's giving Jews Christian stories as his answer.
But you can study it for yourself.
Reason why this Surah was revealed

The word Allah is basic transliteration of the Arabic al-Ilāh, “the God.” Allah is the standard Arabic word for God and is used by Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews as well as by Muslims. The name’s origin can be traced back to the early Semitic writings in which the word for God was il or el, which is also used in the Old Testament.

(I must be rather dumb to think that God would say such a thing about doing revenge)?
For those who do not believe and instead, insult Islam, without studying anything.
Sura 8:61, “But if the enemy incline towards PEACE/Shalom/Salaam, and trust in Allah: for He is the One that hears and knows all things.”
Sura 5:45, The Table Spread: “We ordained for THEM, “Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose…and wounds equal for equal.” BUT if any one remits the retaliation by way of Charity, it is an act of atonement for himself.”
All traditions do have values to teach us--Quran has complete values and wisdom without pornography or devaluing womanhood or servant hood.
Tough discussion to listen to again and again, MashaAllah. Global peace is as important now than ever before. Do our prospective books and values teach us revenge or mercy, that’s the question. True-that all texts have some degree of violence, even more ancient texts have violence; what is the context? That thought was presented towards the middle half, Alhumdullilah.

      Etymology
Borrowed from Arabic عَبْدُ ٱللّٰه‎ (ʿabdu llāh, “servant of God”), from عَبْد‎ (ʿabd, “servant”) + اللّٰه‎ (allāh, “God”).
      Pronunciation
      (US) IPA(key): /æbˈdʌlə/, /ˌɑb.dʊlˈɑ/
      Rhymes: -ʊlə
      Proper noun
      Abdullah
A male given name from Arabic.
      A surname, from Arabic.
      Usage notes
A common Islamic name that is favored because it indicates servitude and humility before God. According to a hadith, "The most beloved of your names to Allah, the Mighty and Magnificent, are ‘Abdullah’ and ‘Abdur-Rahman’ (servant of the Most Merciful)". Abdullah is the primary transliteration of the Arabic given name, Arabic: عبد الله‎, built from the Arabic words ʿAbd and Allah. The first letter a in Allah in its native pronunciation is unstressed, and is elided following another vowel; in the case of Abdu-llah this is the -u of the Classical Arabic nominative case. It is one of many Arabic theophoric names, meaning servant of God. God's Follower is also a meaning of this name

It is because they already at the awareness that they actually do not exist. The only existence is the existence of God. You can call God blablubleebloo and if you’re referring to that same one Supreme Being, then you believe in the same God. The words in various languages which are used to refer to Him is irrelevant and meaningless. It’s silly to assume there are separate beings because the words sound different. My daughter can call me ZazaZaxa and I’ll still be her father and she’ll still be my daughter.
Is Elohim, Yahweh, Allah, God, Dios, Shangdi all the same God? It matters what you _mean_ and _who_ you are intending to refer to. The rest is semantics.
Jehovah’s Witnesses play this word game, that if you don’t pronounce “God’s name” accurate you’re actually worshiping another God. As if you turn to God in humility and use the wrong name and wrong phonemes he’ll reject you. Child’s play!

I am a Muslim and an Arab, but I find that Muslims have a problem in understanding the universality of Islam... when European and American Muslims change their names to Arabic names, and this is something that is neither binding nor necessary, and at the same time they preserve the Arabic word (Allah) as if God is a proper name, like Muhammad, other than It is translatable, although (Allah) is God in English, and Dieu in French, and Dio in Spanish, but the West intended to preserve the name of Allah in the Arabic pronunciation in order to say that Islam is a local Arab religion and not a global religion, and the Islamic Allah becomes like Jehovah, the God of the Jews, and this is a Western trick.

off topic but needs attention: Dr. Ali Ataie is a great scholar of Islam and comparative religions: But The Story about Masjid e Aqsa is a made up story by converting the Muslims from within Jews and Christians: to give Jerusalem importance on the same footing as Mecca/Medina representing Toheed. If the Night Journey was relevant to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) then we would have been given clearer understanding of it by the Quran. If the Quran is silent on something then we must take it as wisdom and follow made haidiths: contradicting the Quranic Message.

Not convinced about the night Journey to Jerusalem. The Night Journey mentioned in the Quran means the Hijarat. The Prophet hood of Muhammad (PBUH) was not about Jerusalem: but about Toheed. Moving the Believers away from Jerusalem & its Temples
