@Djamel Joe I'd say the bible is a corrupt source of information, not to be beleived nor to be disbelieve what it says. The Islamic way of approoaching such subjects is to measure what the bible says against the Quran, if it agrees we agree, if it differs we go with what the Qur'an says. The keepers of the Bible, as the Quran says, "expose some of it and hide some" and they "twist their tongues with the book so that you reckon it is from the book when it is not of the book" and "they take words out of their due context".

We certainly do believe in the scriptures sent down on Moses, David and Jesus (Peace be upon them all) but we do not believe in that which was written by Paul, Luke, John or Babylonic scriptures of Old testament. So there is a big difference. Allah claimed that they changed the words of God for their own. Now some morons like David Wood would bring verses which say Allah's word cannot be changed out of context in opposition to these claims. Now what you will find after entirety of the Holy Quran is that those scriptures were to Man as guardian but for His last revealation He Said "And I will be it's guardian ". And that is true and proven, see videos of this channel about it like on Birmingham's Quran parts found. Hoping you will read The Holy Quran entirely and also view the Bible and Quran in a scholarly view and decide you Path of Life (Bcoz Islam is more than a 'religion')

Hi Paul, I always wondered what you could do if only Arabic was your mother tongue, and I understand the frustration that results from understanding the meaning of a word without grasping its essence, it is an ongoing dilemma for me with my English language. So please accept my humble contribution in explaining the essence of the word (muhaymen). If you consider the meaning (dominant) this will be easier than the foot note you read, examples:
Haymana on the trade of the country …… dominated the trade of the country (this is past tense)
Politically muhaymina state …….politically dominant state ( this is current situation)
Muhaymina share … dominant share ( this is current situation)
The strong boy yuhaymino the weak one…. The strong boy dominates the weak one (this is present tense)
In the Quranic context is means dominating, controlling and preventing it from going astay.
    I hope that was helpful.

Al tahir Ibn Ashoor senior theologian and expert in rhetorical aspects of the quran was a graduate of zytouna mosque (university). he is the author of famous Tafseer Al Tahreer Wal Tanweer. the resulting work of his 50 years in the field. Truly a treasure. I refer to it regularly.
The Quran 3:75 mentions, from among practicing Christians and Jews those who are very honest to the extent that you can entrust to them big amount of money and others whom one cannot entrust money not even a penny. In the same context of dishonesty there are honest Jewish and Christian groups and dishonest groups. In page 293 of his Tafseer of The Quran 3:79, Al Tahir Ibn Ashoor says after mentioning Jewish twist of the Torah in 3:78 which is a type of tahrif, Allah went on to mention the tahrif that the Christians had. Twist is a verb that should be in the past but The Quran brought the present tense to mean that the manipulation is on-going. End of statement by the author.

First, Paul, thank you for the videos and a unique way of connecting 'pixels' for the larger picture. It is a pleasure also because your videos are a great guide to right literature.
I'd like to make a short contribution to the topic, although I'm not a scholar or theologian, and with full appreciation of Dr. Ataie and to his extensive knowledge and experience and to the many fresh facts he presented that mean a lot to me.
So, beside of aspects that Dr. Ataie analized, maybe there's intention of The Holy Qur'an of letting the Christians to have rulings or judging upon themselfes on the basis of their scriptures they have are connected to the principle of not forcing anyone to religion (Islam) and to also Islamic principle of allowing other traditions/religions in Muslim state to establish their own courts or judges for especially private, contractual, business and family matters making a system to resolve disputes among the members of their comunity (in this case Christians). This system of separate parallel legislations was, as far as I know, used by the end of Ottoman empire, and it is pretty unimaginable in a modern standardized western law systems formed in a one-size-fits-all manner. Logically, there is a question, why the Qur'an is specially mentioning gospels of the Christians if the own-ruling-right is a more universal right of nonmuslims? Maybe, the message is what Dr. Ataie said (especially about an invitation to critical examination) in combination with the message to Muslims not to forbid or not to discriminate people (Christians) who are committing obvious shirk out of all the best intentions, maybe it a mercy to Christians as I understand and to some Christian priests who are considered to be nearest to Muslims because they are humble.
I hope things I said make sense, and that the real meanings aren't lost in translations and understanding because I'm not a native English speaker, nor I speak Arabic.
    Wish you all the best.

*Clement of Alexandria* (2nd century CE Church Father) in his book “Paedagogus”:
“We must avoid any irregularity in the type of garment we choose. We must also guard against all waywardness in our use of them. For instance, *it is not right for a woman to wear her dress up over her knees,* as the Laconian maidens are said to do, because *a woman should not expose any part of her body...* I should like, too, not only that it be *forbidden them to expose their ankle,* but also that *it be made obligatory for them to wear a veil over their face and a covering on their head.”*

“Further, the man and woman each must come to the church dressed becomingly, with an unaffected walk... *Let the woman observe this further practise: Except when she is home, she should be completely veiled, for her appearance will be dignified only when she cannot be seen.* She will never fall into sin if she always keeps modesty before her eyes, and *retain her veil,* nor will she lure others into an occasion of sin by baring her face.”
In conclusion, the earliest Christians (ie truest to Christ and his apostles’ message) had more in common with Muslims than most modern Christians realize. 🙏

The meaning of “Mutawaffi” (‘take in full’) is discussed in the exegesis of verses 3: 54-55 (page 76; Mariful Quran vol. 2 by Mufti Taqi Usmani). If you search for the Ma'ariful Quran tafsir on google you should be able to find it on an archive link (all 8 volumes)
I further recommend the tafsir of 4: 157-158 (page 622).
Although the substitutional hypothesis is widely accepted by Muslim scholars from the earliest times, including explanations of the verse from the famous companion Ibn Abbas Ra, who seemed to have understood it as substitutional, which suggests to me this was the idea held by the companions closest to the Prophet PBUH.
Regardless, I can understand the swooning hypothesis. But the “rapture hypothesis” that is proposed by Ustadh Ali and similarly written about by various recent Orientalist scholars is really stretching the verses' meanings to propose this hypothesis. E.g. One question comes to my mind, if indeed Jesus PBUH is on the cross and before his physical flesh dies, Allah intervenes and there is a rapture of his soul, how is that different from death? Because in death everyone’s soul departs the body and all of this is by the will of Allah (as in Allah’s intervention). And if indeed he died on the cross and yet Allah saying they did not kill him nor crucify him sounds like one of these Obi Wan Kenobi moment - “from a certain point of view” - type of verbal gymnastics. No one can do anything to anyone except by the will of Allah.

the view from islamic point of view at least when i first read it seemed to suggest another one was crucified to look like him, while jesus was ascended unharmed and untouched and another was made exactly like him, gospel of barnabas holds this view even most likely a forgery has a story wich no other has last chapters are amazing story really can hold up logically but ofc its a theory like 4 "canon" gospel they speculate too cause they didnt see jesus

I realized you can get tafsir of Ma'ariful quran (by Muft Taqi Usmani directly on quran.com), here are the links:
      - Surah Ali Imran verse 55: quran.com/3:55/tafsirs/en-tafsir-maarif-ul-quran
      - Surah Maidah verse 157: quran.com/4:157/tafsirs/en-tafsir-maarif-ul-quran
There are many theories for the substitution hypothesis apart for Judas - fully explicated here - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_views_on_Jesus%27_death#Substitution_interpretation
I would caution against using the synoptic gospels or acts as sources, as we cannot verify the sources with any accuracy. They wouldn't pass any isnad (chain of narrators) or matn (text) verification test and would be straight up classified as fabricated (mawdu) according hadith sciences. These texts served to propagate a certain christological position. So, we only accept that which falls in line with the Quran as that is direct revelation and authentically preserved. Same goes for the hebrew bible (TaNaK).
