  • Can you make fine woodworking with cheap wood from the big box store? I try it. I make a shaker side table with cheap wood from Lowe’s for 18 dollars? How do you think it turned out?
    I show you how to make a tapering jig which you need for the characteristic tapered legs of shaker furniture.
    The side table is available at

    Thanks for a great video 👍. Didn’t over complicate anything as everything was explained thoroughly.
    End result looks great!
    Also have to give props on music selection! There aren’t too many YT videos that I watch that I can truly say that about! Lol.
    You music selection was on point with your video! Subscribed!

    Nice work. Easy, cheap and looks great. And pocket hole joinery is a perfectly acceptable choice, especially when they're hidden.
    PS .. Just my opinion, but I prefer shop sounds to music in woodworking videos... but at least yours didn't have me with my finger at the volume button the whole time!

      Thanks for the feedback. Still new to CZcams. Trying to figure out editing, sound, all out it. Surprisingly tough to find your own voice and style.

    Do you have measurements for the tapering jig? Whats the name of the hardware used at the adjustable end of the jig? Thanks!

      The long pieces were 3”x 24” but you could go longer or shorter. I used a 1/4 -20 threaded insert with a correspondingly sized bolt. I prefer the threaded inserts that are zinc and use hex keys for driving the insert in. Stay away from the brass ones with the flat head driver top, they break easily.

    No guard on your table saw or jointer.😬

    Cool, how long did it take to make?

      @andrewshotts  Před měsícem +3

      Not terribly long. Let’s say 10-12 hrs total but I only worked on it a couple hours a day.

      Nice project. And… even if it’s made out of construction grade material… the moment you turn your own pull on the lathe it becomes fine woodworking. LOL
