Jack Antonoff Breaks Down Music Production Scenes from Movies | GQ - Zábava
hearing Jack talk about an artist's relationship to the "industry" was surprisingly refreshing.
Fame.
so the girls finally let jack out of the basement
Its only Taylor actually lol
@@anisanurraudah8383 no he's worked with lorde, and clairo lol
Meanwhile lorde, lana and taylor 👁️👄👁️
GIRLS CAN'T LET HIM GO HE'S THEIR BACKBONE
Love how he gets lost in breaking down the actual musicality of the different scenes it’s amazing to see someone so clearly interested in every aspect that’s going on
@BP calm down, let someone admire someone else in peace
@BP no one said it was difficult, but it’s nice to see passion :)
he spilled SO MUCH about that songwriting credits and artists’ relationship with the industry thingy in such little time
Jack Antonoff is wildly talented and I'm very glad to see him here. Go listen to his bands Bleachers and Fun, if you haven't. I think between them he plays every instrument and role possible.
And STEEL TRAIN!!
And red hearse!!
Bleachers what a band
entropy with him and grimes
Yeah, you're missing out if you don't check out Steel Train.
It’s crazy to think that 12 years ago I sat in this dude’s tour “bus” and played him my band’s ep and he sat and critiqued it for 30 minutes. Then an hour later my band opened for his band. A night that will always be up there for me. Jack and the rest of Steel Train are nice dudes. Crazy to see how big he’s gotten on the production side of things.
10 years ago I handed him my EP outside of a Jack’s Mannequin show in CA. To this day I wonder if he listened to it 🧐
What happened to your group 🤔??
@@elbensvibez that's awesome! I'm sure he did!
@@jasonstehlick452 And how do you feel about that? Do you think y'all could have been on a major level if y'all all stuck together?
*P.S - I'm a music love and listener. I don't hear the music, I listen to it, so I'm most definitely gonna check out the link you attached* 🔗 💯 🏁
@@riversider2506 I feel good about it. I have a great family and career, so I’m happy. I definitely wonder “what if” some days, and who knows, maybe we would have gotten somewhere. Music will always be an important part of me. Cheers!
The swears that do and don’t get censored in this clip are all over the place
I was wondering the same.
They should’ve showed him “Let it Shine” (Disney Movie)
Antonoff is one of the masters of his craft and I could listen to him talk about what he does for hours
So glad that he's getting the recognition he deserves on his own because his music genius is so incredible
he produced folklore and melodrama. he's basically my favorite musician lmao
True that.
NFR! Supremacy
Laura Sisk engineered folklore and melodrama.
Jack: Nothing is a coincidence, nothing
Swifties: WE KNOOOW *starts crying*
*L.*
Factsss
Lmao, if there’s anyone who has the industry wrapped around their finger, it’s Taylor swift.
@@eternalending as she should💅💅
@@eternalending Taylor Swift is The music industry
*This man deserved a life time achievement award for producing august alone.*
So glad he brought up producers trying to get songwriting credits when they didn't write the song!
I don't know why, but this man's voice makes me feel really comfortable.
u should then def check out his music w his band “bleachers”
Antonoff saying "Jesus and Mary Chainy", for me, is priceless
the only man i respect
Why 🤔?
YES
That's sad
I think he means producer wise
exactly bestie
i wish they'd get him to react to the scene in pitch perfect 2 where anna kendrick started making a beat with the launchpad 😂😂
enjoyed seeing Jack talked about something I’m just getting into lately, the production of making music :)
😊
The more I hear Jack speak so passionately about music, the bigger my crush on him grows
I wholeheartedly agree 👀
GQ really managed to persuade clairo, lorde, taylor, carly, lana to let him out of the basement huh
that's some high end ability
0:10 the damn beats pill in every rap video 6 years ago 💀😂
fun fact: this man has 2 albums of the year: 1989 & folklore (as a producer)
He would have had another two AOTY albums if the scammy was not such an idiot, I am talking about melodrama and NFR were robbed
Now midnights
4:56 - Brian Wilson uses the earphones that way because he's deaf in one ear.
i can watch this all day. he is genius, cant wait for "take the sadness out of saturday night" album ❤️🔥
As a swiftie who watched all the "making of a song" clips and the whole folklore and evermore productions, I could already guess the first thing Jack was going to say after that Pitch Perfect clip was "kalimba is nice".
I love him, he’s absolutely fascinating
2:58 No wonder Scooter is now also credited as writer on most of Justin’s songs.
This was my favorite one of these I've watched. He's so honest and thoughtful and engaging.
nice to see jack's finally out of taylor's basement
Ive had a crush on Jack since his Fun days onwards to his Dont take the money MV.
Now that I know how much of a geek he is, I think I am genuinely in love.
this was sooo entertaining, i love watching him talk about music because you can see how passionate and how much he knows about it. Jack Antoff the only man ever
imagine if there are instruments or music production things with him in that room that he can mess with as examples while he talks about all these music production stuff. it would be soo cool! (i'm a total music production noob as you might see in my comment but I know what's interesting)
Very much enjoyed the album Sling from him
jack my religion, you produced a lot, a lot of my favorite albums of all the time
Laura Sisk is the vocal engineer behind Jack's beats
I imagine all music in a sphere so it is amazing to hear someone say it like that.
He is the goat. I saw him live front row and his energy was absolutely crazy
This is incredibly insightful, thank you
I'll buy whatever you're selling, Jack.
Jack: "there's no such thing as a coincidence 👁️👄👁️" 11:51
I wish this was longer, maybe make a part 2?
why is he not aging at ALL
Us Bergen County dudes are like vampires.
Jack Antonoff is supremely talented!!!
Bleachers is one of my favourite artists rn this was so cool to watch
One of the best producers in music working today.
just the bleachers production alone makes him credible to do this
as a professional engineer, hoooollllyy $hit so nice to hear someone talk about the "you should be happy to be here" exploitation line we've been fed.
Its crazy how GQ pick 1 producer to breakdown these scenes and they pick jack antonnofff❤❤❤❤👑👑👑
jack antonoff and pitch perfect- my worlds colliding
Ok why did they bleep him at 11:05 when seconds before they didn’t bleep anything?
Yeah I don’t know. Either they did it for comedic effect, or their editors aren’t very good and only caught those swears because they were more obvious, lol
Such a sick video. Thank you
More content like this please
im so inlove with this man
"when an artist you like starts to chase something...its a very sad feeling" - Jack I wish you'd revist Nate Ruess and fun. just one more time man.
Jack! Loved his insight
I thoroughly enjoyed this
Okay but is fun. Finally going to make their return
unfortunately, don’t think so :(
check out his project the bleachers
I love this guy so much
This guy has handled this incredibly well. The perfect level of not blaming others too much, accepting the outcome and being driven to do better.
Tried out the sleighbells thing right away, can confirm is cool thanks Jack
I don’t think I will ever understand the hate that he gets. He seems good at what he does, that’s why he/we’re here right. He also seems sweet, doesn’t seem pretentious, no frills, and he looks like a guy you can have a convo with, and just be yourself. Besides, I really like someone who can laugh at their own jokes/thoughts like they’re going crazy, because me too.
So fascinating and enlightening. I was a fan before and more so now. He should do a Ted talk “so you wanna be in the music industry…”
Love that he references Jesus and Mary Chain
i totally see Taylor and Jack talking about music and the iNdUstRy for HOOOOOURS over 3 bottles of wine!
I would loove to hear that conversation
This man is my hero
It’s Jack 😍
Bleep at 00:37 but not at 2:44? Great job, GQ. You’re the industry standard.
They showed Love and Mercy but Jack doesn’t talk about The Beach Boys music production and how it shaped music we hear today?? Man…
Jack: Nothing is a coincidence, nothing
ALSO Jack: *aggressively tries to brainwash me into buying a remote control without a TV*
great dude
love him
When will GQ make a video for a Teacher Breakdown? No love for the teaching profession?
I went ahead and made my own video because they haven't yet.
why did they not use the part where beca uses the pad in Pitch Perfect 2 !!!
omg i love him
CZcams constantly recommends me GQ videos I couldn't care less about. I have been playing guitar for 20 years, I'm a mix engineer, and I had to stumble across this one by clicking on the GQ channel to see what new videos they had. Well done CZcams algorithm, you idiot.
Would have loved to see a reaction to Inside Llewyn Davis 😊
this man is a genius
I think I’m in love with him
YES KING
JACKKKK MY MANNN
I love his shirt!!
Hoping the "More Cowbell" SNL skit is in here. 😉
Jack is the best
Jack is one of the most talented and lovable people in the Industry
that dog. RESPECT.
I thought it was really cool how he had a cameo as a producer in the reboot of high fidelity
the best
King antonoff

The song “suave” that was mentioned by destinee Reneé is fire. A must production great. Her voice fantastico. 😊😊😊‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✨✨✨✨✨✨check it out “suave”

legendary human being
thank you jack for the free therapy
I would trust him with my entire existence
King Jack
words cant describe how much i adore this man, his talent is exquisitely crazy
cool video
So grateful for his comments about being an artist in the U.S.
We need "Fun." back
I like that they censor the cursing in the clips, but he cursed at least as much as the clips.
