Further on that, some alternators are more complex to replace than others, so when the aftermarket unit fails, the suppliers will take the old unit back, make you wait the required amount of time for a credit (while charging you for the replacement), and then refuse to pay the labor for fitting the second unit. This is why I only use genuine or Japanese etc branded electrical items.

How did the price compare between the two? I'm finding more and more genuine stuff reasonably priced compared to aftermarket.

Rob where was a that aftermarket alternator sourced from? Can we not rely on our usual aftermarket suppliers?
