    I purchased 4 liners for my 8 foot cage so I can switch between them when it’s laundry day. I just washed the first set today and the vinegar really helps get gross scents out. We used vinegar/water solution when my dog was a puppy if he peed on the carpet and it worked like a charm. My skinnies love the liners!

    What laundry bags do you use? I make sure to brush and spot clean before putting the liners into a regular mesh laundry bag. This has helped to prevent a lot of hair and debris from getting into the washer...however I am worried about heavier debris that is unseen getting into the washer over time. I have looked at a couple of pet washing machine bags but the reviews haven't been supportive.
    Thank you for your help and I absolutely love your products! It's made my life so much easier and the ladies are way happier and cleaner because of them. :)

    Please consider making bigger sizes! I need a 2x5 C&C liner and I wanted these, but unfortunately, 2X4 is the biggest size

    • @GuineaDad
      @GuineaDad  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Samii :) Thanks for checking out our video! Because GuineaDad Liner was made to be extremely absorbent, once the liner gets too big it does not wash as well. After experimenting we decided to make the 2x4 as the biggest. Instead of having one big 2x5 liner, I found that having 2x3 and 2x2 is easier to spot clean as well! If you make 2x2 area dedicated kitchen area and put the hang the hay box on that end, you can clean up all the hay by taking that smaller liner and slide all the waste into the garbage can. poop is extremely easy to clean with the electric sweeper I often show in our videos :)

    The way I dry them is to put them in the dryer, no heat and tumble for 30 minutes. This also helps to collect any excess hair sticking to the liner if the washing machine didn’t get it off. Then, I’ll take them out and hang them over the bannister to air dry.

    • @aaronjevons5530
      @aaronjevons5530 Před 2 lety

      In my experience any heat, even low heat causes them to shrink.

    • @GuineaDad
      @GuineaDad  Před 2 lety +1

      I think that's a good tip. How I do it recently is I just do low heat dry to not fully dry as well. I take extra care in rinsing out thoroughly too. Sometimes remnant detergent heats up faster and damage the liner. I guess the key is to not overload it and use largest load or bedding setting when washing to do that.

  • @JS-xv7jf
    @JS-xv7jf Před 4 lety

    Ok soooo, these are awesome and make cage maintenance and cleaning a breeze. BUT over time by following his instructions with cold water or even the soak method simply doesn't work. I've tried it all. And this is the solution that passes my nose test! On warm water setting or go ahead and use cold but there is shrinkage with any warmth at all, I pour a hearty scoop of oxiclean, a generous splash of vinegar, all clear detergent measured out, and a little bleach. This is for the liners and other fleece pieces I use. I do the super wash extra rinse cycle on heavy duty setting. I dry my fleece, and hang the guinea dad liners up. It will take about a day for them to fully dry. I had found putting them on airfluff only no heat works too. These things are great but to get the barnyard guinea pig smell out each time you wash them, you really have to do more than suggested. Otherwise it just kept building up. Borax might be useful although I haven't tried it yet.

    I want to try these liners but I’m confused... wouldn’t the cage start to smell right away once they start peeing everywhere? I tried using fleece blankets for one guinea pig (not from guineadad) and his cage started smelling bad after a day of having fleece bedding. How do I keep the smell under control before I wash the bedding once a week? What product do I use to “spot clean”?

    • @gabbgabbzz
      @gabbgabbzz Před 3 lety

      There’s actually not a smell when they pee because the second layer absorbs it so that way it doesn’t smell. I have 2 piggies and I wash my liners every week. So far I haven’t gotten a smell.

      @havenmorrison7463 Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, you may need to wash it multiple times so that it will wick water/ pee into the inner layer.

    Can you wash the 2x3CC liner by hand? Would that avoid some of the shrinkage?

    Hey so I'm considering buying your liners.
    But I don't have a dryer...
    I do have a line outside.
    I don't know if you you know but how long do they take to dry straight from the washer?
    Why is it bad to hang them on the line? If it's just fading that's okay by me.
    Also, if you leave them unwashed after being used, for a week does that damage them? (I.e could I go down to the landremat every few weeks and do a big wash and dry)
    Thank you in advance!

      You can air dry, but should do it indoor away from direct sunlight to prevent possible heat damage. I used to do that too (do it in loads) in Chicago, and didn't really do anything to the liner. However, I can see that pre-soak would help a lot if the liner is old.

    what about washing them at a laundromat with commercial machines? there's no option to separate the liquids i.e. vinegar and detergent. Can you put them at once?

    • @GuineaDad
      @GuineaDad  Před 3 lety

      Yup, you can put them together. My current machine also does not have the separate compartment after I moved to an apartment in Las Vegas. You can also wash them in commercial machines - in fact they are supposed to be stronger and better.

      Is that like a mesh bag to capture the hair? I've heard some people use that to success as well.

    I have a question, if I use the fleece, do I still need to add a litter box under the wheel or no?

    • @GuineaDad
      @GuineaDad  Před 3 lety

      Hi! If you use GuineaDad bedding there is no need for you to use other beddings (aspen, shaving or etc.).Unlike regular beddings, our GuineaDad Fleece Liners are made up of three main components; the top fleece, bamboo blend fill, and waterproof backing. The moisture-wicking top fleece is made from polyester, it is designed to dry quickly to keep piggies feet dry! Our bamboo blend fill is super absorbent, anti-bacterial, and natural! The natural bamboo properties help absorb moisture away from the top layer and also help minimize odor buildup and the bottom of the liner is a waterproof backing made from polyester. This layer keeps the moisture in the bamboo layer and off your cage floors! If you go with Guineadad liners there is no need for other beddings because it is washable and reusable. 🤩
