    I've been getting all my knowledge from Dave for years. He's the best person to learn from. When I need to go initiator to visco I cut a plastic straw down to 2 inches and it fits tightly over the initiator. Then I just put the visco in that straw and tape it. It's pretty much the exact same concept just a little bit more legwork but very cheap to do.

    Thanks Dave, I bought me 2 packs with your promo code. I WISH I had this when I was connecting my strobes and some timed mortars for my pyromusical on the 4th instead of holding my breath on my taping job. All went off, but this just gives the peace of mind and less hassle!

      License* it's really simple but it's not free. 1.can't be a felon 2.gotta go on atf website and print off type 54 license application 3.gotta get finger prints and a 2x2 pic plus 100 dollar application fee and mail it in and wait approx. 3 months and lastly just cuz you have a atf license does NOT mean you can buy 1.3 and light it whenever. You still HAVE to go to the city or municipalities in which you live to pull a permit to light 1.3 good luck lol

    I hope these work better than the plastic clips. Previous years I would use talons and would always have 1 or 2 that did not ignite. This year I bought mjg with visco clips and 7 cues did not go off including my finale. I was not happy.

    • @electricmatch1
      @electricmatch1 Před 4 lety

      Are you putting the visco in until you almost see it in the guide hole? We only see failures when it’s in too far. However this eliminates that issue. Just don’t put the fuse in all the way like dave mentions at the end of the video. However he didn’t have any issues, i think the .25” space is best.

    • @blue92t
      @blue92t Před 4 lety

      @@electricmatch1 yes i would stop the fuse right before the hole. Not sure what went wrong.

  • @SKINxSLAYER
    @SKINxSLAYER Před 4 lety +1

    I'm curious.. you mention you can cut the fuse on a mortar and put the wire into the tube. Since the wire doesn't dissapear as a fuse does when it burns, I wonder if that would ever bind a mortar from leaving the tube. And with that rubber tubbing on there if that got wedged between the wall of the tube and the mortar its self when it goes to leave the tube would it get stuck?? You should test that theory..

    • @jonelectronics510
      @jonelectronics510 Před 4 lety +1

      I quite often cut the QM of pro shells to a few inches above the shell and then insert the igniter as it prevents lots of paper being blown around on site. The ematch gets blown out at the same time as the shell so violently it is never going to jam, it happens way too quickly.

  • @WaxPaper
    @WaxPaper Před 4 lety

    Pretty expensive, hope that's just a "pre-production" price. I'd probably be fine with double the price of traditional initiators, since these aren't regulated, but not quadruple.
    Still, I'm glad someone's out there doing this. It paves the way for more companies to start manufacturing similar initiators, until this eventually becomes the norm for a consumer solution.

    • @alexb5766

    • @tyler558806
      @tyler558806 Před 4 lety

      Just wanted to point out they're the exact same price as their firewire initiators for the same amount and length. You may have missed that as I did at first until I saw they were 10ft per wire.

    • @WaxPaper
      @WaxPaper Před 4 lety

      @@tyler558806 It's been a while since I've bought regular e-match, but it shouldn't be more than $30 per x100. And that was retail, for just 100. I imagine buying x1000 or more should be even cheaper. You gotta remember, we're talking about pennies worth of material, here.
      I can understand this product being a little more expensive since this guy probably wants to capitalize on the lack of competition right now. It was similar for those alligator clip style initiators, back when everyone thought they would replace regular e-match. It looks like this new kind does have promise, though.
      But this price point isn't sustainable for enthusiasts... I can see one dollar per wire being an okay price in a retail store, for a guy who's only buying 20 or 30 per season.

    • @electricmatch1
      @electricmatch1 Před 4 lety

      WaxPaper price quantities will come. Remember these aren’t made in China. All the material is bought from American suppliers. The wire itself is .30 before it is even cut to 10ft length. Price online is based on consumers buying a box or 2. As a manufacturer we concentrate on moving pallets, so as it takes off it will move to distributors and be cheaper.
