Conan the Barbarian - Grant Me Revenge! (1982 HD)

- Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

Subotai isn't no pushover. He's a great warrior in his own right. He stayed with Conan knowing full well he probably wasn't coming back from this fight. A fight that is not even his to fight. Subotai is the ultimate bro, only matched by the likes of Sam Gamgee. Everybody ought to have a Subotai or a Sam in their life.
A Subo-sam if you will?
Croms Valkyrie blinded 1 guy. Subotai took out 10-20 warriors. If you want that sweet revenge, I know who I would pray to.
I am someone's Subotai 🤨
Everybody should also be a Subtao or Sam for someone in their life. It's easy to appreciate a friend who will die for you but harder to be a friend who will die for someone.
Conan praying at that moment makes perfect sense. His whole life boiled down to this battle, the odds significantly stacked against him & Subotai. Gives me goose bumps to this friggin day...
Conan is a good role model to aspire to. I had a tough upbringing and all I thought of was, "my will cannot break." Conan teaches strength in the face of adversity. He was and still as an adult is my hero.
Crom cares not... carry on.
Same here
You and me both brother!

No other film I have ever seen has even come close to capturing the essence of this movie. It lives, breathes, has a soul. Perfection.
Yeah, best description
This is the movie that made me an Arnold Schwarzenegger Fan. I was 5 years old when this movie came out, and he had me believing Set and Thaddeus Doom were real! His Pronunciation of Crom, and his warrior and Samarian mentality was Awesome! This is thee greatest prayer ever!
The beginning of this clip is one of the best demonstration in the cinema history of how cinematography, action and music work together.
no one noticed back then but that Conan and the Rock Hercules were just the first of the anti white remakes
Yes. Excessive dialogue not needed.
the graveyard scene in the good the bad and the ugly as well
Very Lawrence of Arabia in that regard
The whole movie is a timeless masterpiece.
Milius purposely minimises Arnold's dialogue throughout the film due to his thick accent. Then, ironically, the few times he does speak he comes out with some massively quotable dialogue in this prayer and the "Crush your enemies ..." answer.
Great film.
Which is bizzare since I've almost never had a problem understanding him since I was a kid.
Yeah the dialog is minimal in this movie and I think it adds to its scenery and mood. This isnt a movie about witty dialog, its a movie about the harsh lands, the base senses and the push that drives a man on a mission and those loyal to him.
His accent is also good as it isnt american or english
@@soakedbearrd The dialog is so minimal that Conan and Valeera talk to each other ONLY ONCE in the entire film
The music in this film is some of the best ever composed and that goes for the sequel to. Basil Poledouris is a genius.
Conan: "CROM ! Blah blah blah blah".
Crom: "..." (minding his own business)
Conan: "Blah Blah ..then to hell with you !"
Crom: "What ?"
You have no ear for it.
I find this to be one of Arnie’s funniest line.
Conan:"You heard me, Crom"!!!!!
You gave me a genuine laugh with that. Thanks fam!
I laughed so hard when I read this. Thanks, you brightened up a sucky day. 😊
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women...
That is good.
In my opinion best movie ever. I still love this movie.
The most badass prayer I have ever heard
It's literally dear god, give me what I want, or go fuck yourself.
Excalibur and Conan, I can see them over and over
I never like the actor that played Arthur. Literally every other person in that movie was perfect, Max Von Sydow, Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart, Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson, the guy who played Lancelot, even the fuckin extras were awesome, but the dude who played Arthur just didnt fit. Other then that, its a perfect movie. Oh... and Conan is completely perfect.
This is the scene that every RPG player wants in a game.
There's a MASSIVE fight in Dragon Age Inquisition, one of the DLCs, where it's seriously 4 vs 30+ enemies. The music for it is incredible, but if they'd played this during the same fight...oh yeah.
Was thinking how this would all look as miniatures
I remember doing push ups as a kid in front of the tv watching arnold kick ass! Kids these days need a guy like this to look to for masculine badassery
but... i thought men were supposed to be like the ones in the EPIC Gillette commercial... no..? XD

Whoever directed this film knew what death by heavy melee looked like.
ffp08 that would be John Milius
@@nickbarber3315 Aka if he'd not gotten sick, we'd probably have had the damn King Conan movie 10 years ago.
I misread the OP post as "death by heavy metal".
Given how this film is, i dont really feel that far off the mark.
Melee indeed. Milius is highly underrated and sadly unappreciated. This is art. Film, light, props, actors, the weather, the sun and sand ... not a computer in sight. And it looks fantastic.
And John Milius was also the inspiration for the character of Walter in The Big Lebowski.
Probably one of the best epic scenes of whole cinema! It refelcts perfectly the harsh life and fights in awesome Robert E. Howard short stories!
Lardon2 as epic as the Terminator being lowered into the furnace would you agree
Indeed!
One of the best film scores ever
Up until this point, in the 'present day' of adult Conan's life, the snake cult have seemed pretty effete and strange. Not at all like the armoured horsemen who killed Conan's family and people. But in this showdown, here they are, dressed in black and riding under the same standard. For the first time, Conan really is fighting the enemies he remembers, exactly as he remembers them.
Luckily for Conan, the years lounging about having orgies and rallies seem to have dulled the snake cult's edge a bit. They got slack, and Conan's never been sharper.
A warriors path of down N out to laugh & cry later or pray for revenge !!
I never thought about that, pretty cool
Stay jacked or get clapped - Conan

Lol
Well said. The perverts in Hollywood and poor politicians have a resonance here.
That... music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Basil Poledouris was the composer. We'll not see his like again.
Epic
He sits enthroned with the gods now.
Without doubt, greatest film score of all time - along with Miklos Rozsa’s score for ‘Ben Hur’. These great symphonic scores that transport us instantly to different ages and eras - ages of ‘high adventure’ as Mako tells us at the beginning - will never be composed again in this historical cycle.
Some rap guy rapped over this it was epic for many reasons
I was 7 years old when this came out. I was raised by t.v. & MTV back then. I remember when I watched this on t.v., we did have HBO & Cinemax probably around that time. But this movie became my favorite for some reason. I have it on DVD now.
I was 9 , classic movie
Back in the 80's. Late night regular t.v. they didn't censor. I tapped this off a regular chan. The good days!
Praise Crum🙏🙏🙏
For some reason , the only reason is that it is AWESOME ,lol and the Father of all fantasy movie from that point on
@@willyswagon57 only the father of the good fantasy movies
Conan the Barbarian had such a huge impact on me as a child I still consider it the strongest driving force behind my life - no mercy, no pity, vengeance & revenge...
The most Underrated Movie of all time! The Pain & suffering he went through, the hardship, the Music alone was Oscar worthy, Costumes, the sets this was one bad Ass MF Movie period!Arnold Schwarzenegger best movie he has ever done in my opinion!...
That should be the new style of praying:
"Our father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name...but if you do not listen, then the HELL with you. Amen"

The king of the sword and sorcery era. Long live the king.
Something about this really speaks to your soul, I feel my ancestors blood stir when I see and hear this. I know they fought in battles and saw the enemy horsemen coming...it's great for working out to.
The Atlantean The Riddle Of Steel!!!!!!!AMEN!!!!!!!
Same feeling here
There are battles enough to fight today too brother.

This whole awesome battle scene. Just amazing. Love this movie. A solid fuckin 10

This particular music piece is engaging af.
Basil Poledouris's Conan soundtrack is a masterpiece! This movie's score is one of my favorites.
You can listen to the whole soundtrack on Spotify if you want
BillGunslinger Indeed. I have it on CD from Varese Sarabande for about 20 years, never gets old.
Oh and by the way... Spotify hasn’t got the full album. But YT does. 👍😎

I didn't know that
Gonna listen to it on CZcams someday

this one and the one in 13th warrior are the most epic prayers I ve heard...

Can't express how much I enjoyed reading the comments. True Conan passion!!!
Once great men lived here... giants, gods... once, but long ago. And yet, one last time, the mounds are witnessing one last epic showdown, two against many...
Still the best Conan film to date!
Basil Poledouris' music really KILLS!
Best speech ever
Thank you for including the words in the description. one of the greatest speeches in any film.
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women"!

That soundtrack! Love it!
Something about Conan feels like a lost history...men fighting against the snakes for freedom against the Draconian empire 🐍🤔

Kill all the fckng reptilians they have now Freemasons and illuminati.
Ahh this is from that DVD version that left out the chorus. All the music is missing that hauntingly powerful chorus and it's just not the same without it.
What DVD version was that? That sucks!
I think it's the Blu-Ray version. I don't have it. For anyone that doesn't know what I'm talking about, compare this video to czcams.com/video/RBMY3VV5AMA/video.html. How did they let this slip past them?
Curiously there is ONE second of the chorus in this video, @1:24. How that survived but the rest didn't is beyond me.
Yeah I caught that as well. The chorus is fantastic. To remove it is a travesty.
mrsparkle001 It’s still just as powerful without it. I do remember that from the VHS copy I had back in the day. Doesn’t bother me though. A few little gospel chants that were removed aren’t enough to make this score any less amazing.
The music was SUPERB!!
America needs more of THIS in its cinemas.
"Grant me revenge, Jesus! And if not, to hell with you!"
If I had learned this prayer in Sunday School, maybe I would still go to church.
Psalm 144 Of David. Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. O LORD, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him?
can't forget the impact of this movie when i first watched it! Amazing!

Conan the barbarian.
I share a very unique connection with this movie. This was the first time I saw a movie in theater, I was just 4 years old. I still love it. One of my favorites of all time....
I get goosebumps whenever I watch this.the music is just perfect.easily one of my favorite movies ever.
No more this kind of movies and such impactful dialogues..wow..
This is great movie, great actors, costumes and music. I've bought a book or two about Conan long time ago. Arnold and secondary actors is great, there wasn't a mainrole everything was in a balance
This original movie is Kickass but they need to do a sequel where CONAN becomes THE KING BY HIS OWN HAND,to finish the story as ARNOLD is getting Old, That would be EPIC
Arnold and JEJ and Lopez and Davidson and Sven Ole Thorsen rock, it can't be denied. But I've got to give it to Basil Pouledoris... what a f*cking score!!
Amen, brother. 😎
I have always loved barbarian movies.
This is how you make movies into classics
The music...😍😍😍😍😍
"All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important. Valor pleases you Crom..."
Guess Crom was not pleased with General Custer and his Men.
I think Crom sided with the Native Americans that time! If you care to know why I'd feel that way about that particular situation, go back to 1868. In a meeting with a certain tribe of Native Americans, Custer made a treaty (a written promise), to those there that he would never turn on them. He was told by the Native American Chief that was in that meeting that, if he ever broke his promise to them, that he would die for his treachery. He must've forgotten his promise to them...and he paid for that broken promise with his life!
@@ronaldshank7589
Wait, which Tribe was it that General Custer met with in 1868?
From what I know, the Tribes that attacked Custer that day at Little Bighorn were the Sioux and the Cheyenne.
@@Elsupermayan8870 I'd have to go back, and do some research on the subject, but I think it was the Cheyenne.
@@Elsupermayan8870 I went back, and checked what had happened. This is what I found out:In 1868, Custer had given his word to Stone Forehead, a Cheyenne Chief, that he would keep a treaty that had been proposed, and that he would never break the treaty. However, he broke the treaty that he made with Chief Stone Forehead, and ultimately, died for breaking the treaty. Get this: Apparently, Chief Stone Forehead had warned Custer what would happen to him, if Custer broke the treaty. Custer didn't listen, and, as I said, died for it. Immediately after his death, a Cheyenne woman shoved two awls into Custer's ears, in order to prevent him from hearing well in the afterlife. Native Americans take being lied to as a Cardinal (Very dooming) sin and offense!!!

Dino was an expert in languages as well. For Ax in Mongolian means brother. So 2 brothers standing back to back, shoulder to shoulder.
Brother means in Mongolian Akh Tüü.... or Akh Mini... I'm Siberian... it's the same word, because our uralic-altaic language.
@@unknownmf2599 Other Versions of Brother yes like Big Brother. However Brother in Mongolian is Ax. Siberia so the Russian Federation. Mongolians may use the Cyrillic alphabet and The latin Alphabet. However the true text and writings of this Culture is Bolor. Not the Uralic-Altaic Language. Mongolians are genetically closer to the Indian nations LIKE THE Sioux and Apache for example than the Han Chinese.
@@simonbraybrooke4140 I'm Siberian... aka Mongolic people. And we are Uralic-Altaic. Stop erasing our history and true facts.
