They are Suffolks. They are born black but their fleeces turn white as they get older.

Every time I think I might want to learn to shear I see big guys like this and change my mind! We have the shearers coming next week.
Shearing is enjoyable generally if you enjoy working with animals. The smaller you are the more you have to focus on technique, core strength though it can be a maters of getting through days like these. Talk to other female shearers before being put off. The hardest sheep you will ever shear is the first one. Not the biggest one…

Those are some big braw hoggets. You expect them to look less square & chunky when they're sheared but no, still bloody big sheep.

Its always when you’re least fit you end up struggling with these flocks. They are bad enough when you are in the swing of things. Ease the weight and off they go 🤦♂️
