Full replay from the Water Polo Arena as Australia take on USA in the classification stages of the men's water polo event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Water polo made its Olympic debut at the Paris Games in 1900. It was not included in 1904 but would be present at each subsequent edition of the Olympic Games.
In the early days, the players rode on floating barrels that resembled mock horses, and swung at the ball with mallet-like sticks. This made it similar to equestrian polo, hence its name.

That's why you will never see an obese person in water polo or many endurance sports like it (basketball, soccer, swimming). That is a sign that the sport itself requires you to be in top shape.

Many people underestimate this sport. In my opinion, this is the hardest, most tiring sport ever.

I started playing waterpolo 2.5 years ago and still have difficulty having enough experience playing and knowing when to do what, it’s really harder than it looks
Just started playing, it's hard, yep. Ok and who gave the announcer the mic? He's just saying words. Doesn't know what the fouls are, I mean, I am still learning too but he's calling out positions that aren't there, and not really following the play. Anyway, looks like everyone was having fun.
these sport ain't for everyone is the hardest you have to swim and play with the ball is very hard but it's good

So many people think that polo or swimming is easy sports. I did both of them and Im still playing polo. Its the hardest sport on the planet and people call this easy? They should feel the burn on your legs after practise.
