+amorambre - I agree that Cisneros was wrong to refer to Selena as "a bad role model". Selena raised money for charities , went to schools to talk to children about the dangers of substance abuse , and was an advocate for victims of domestic violence . She sometimes performed for free , proving that she truly cared about her fans , and not just their money . She once paid three-hundred dollars to have a vet treat a rabbit that she accidentally hit while driving . Selena loved everyone , and treated them all eaqually , irregardless of race , culture , etc. , and never refused a fan's request for a photo or an autograph. She was a complete lady on stage and off , both in her language and in her actions . For Cisneros to claim that Selena was "not a good role model" , based solely on the fact that she occasionally wore a particular article of clothing during her performances , is beyond ridiculous . Could it be that she is , in fact , envious of another Mexican-American woman whose fame eclipsed her own by far?

See, here's something that bothers me about what she's saying about teen pregnancy; she has said in a documentary that she doesn't like Selena, & one reason that she gave was that Selena dresses promiscuously. But Selena used to go to high schools & even said in an interview on a TX TV station that the best way to avoid an unwanted pregnancy is not to have sex. It's ironic because it seems the two ladies are almost saying the same thing, only Selena's message is more conservative & Cisneros has accused her of being promiscuous through her dress.

ppl need to be taught to seek solutions from God, within themselves and their peers/family instead of going out in the streets sayingto the government we need funding for this, help w/that, in other words, to stop acting like the victim--even when you are because the reality is most ppl are victims of something.
