Anyone doing this during Quarantine?
yep
being forced to do this cause of school? yep
her voice is the most relaxing thing I have ever heard, and she's so intellectual too.
I agree it is so relaxing and calming
16/17 of my students are Mexican Americans. They are really enjoying the book, and I am enjoying teaching them through it.
Hi Sabrina!!can you help with the book?could you please send me the activities with the answers you did with this book!!i need to read it ...and I work a lot ....I need help because in two days I have to prepare an oral exposition in my school....if you can help me...sending me what you think it could be useful I will thank you a.lot!!I don't have time.....:(
..Iam Natalia from Argentina!!
I'm 30. Read this a very long time ago for school. Nostalgic, feel good story and characters. Thank you, Sandra.
I love Sandra Cisneros' writing and how her characters are relatable. The vignettes makes reading easier for my students. They see short stories and immediately think "this is easy and won't take too long." LOL
I chose to read this book for my homework, I love it so much, my favorite book of all time and I'm thankful for the opportunity of reading it, because, indeed, it has changed my life. Thank you Sandra Cisneros for writing a book that is timeless!
weird
Fake
Hello could you tell my the story and the details
This book was one of the books I had to read in middle school, I would think it was a waste and wouldn't understand. But as soon as I got to class and the teacher would explain to us, it made me realize how much there was in this book. I really enjoyed the book at the end because I interpreted and analyzed the text something I learned that not everything is easily seen.
Im doing this for my Literature in 2020🤣
same dude, XD
Same here 😅
Same
me to its annoying
same i comment this during class
I used to love this book when I was a kid, and after reading it again I fell even more in love with it! For anyone having difficulites reading it, I highly reccomend looking up an analysis of it on Shmoop; the book is rich in symbolism/motifs and some knowledge of Latino (especially Chicano) culture is especially helpful in understanding the book. Please give the book a shot, I guarantee you'll enjoy it!
The book is very deep and very metaphorical. It has a lot of emotion and hidden meaning you need to uncover put into it. all these people who are saying the book sucked ass obviously are immature and don't have enough of an imagination to understand it.
Or maybe it’s just not their type of book, everyone has different tastes.
A mi me encanto este libro, y Sandra Cisneros es una gran persona la conoci en el tour del 25 aniversario del libro.
I think it's better to read the book as an adult, looking back on childhood. I think young people would miss a lot of the novel's point because they are still immersed in what the protagonist is dealing with.
I am learning English and this book ( mango street) is perfect for me. I am happy about it. God bless you S. C.
I loved reading the house on mango street, I read it for school but I still really enjoyed it.
I love the book and what really stuck with me about it was experiencing the beauty in even run down surroundings, and having a passion for life
who's also doing these packets at three o'clock in the morning?
Me rn
For me it was Summer Homework and I liked it so much that I finished it the day I got it, so yeah
me right now, it’s 4:26, i wanna cry
violet scarlett anyone go to opportunities?? OFL
ayy im doin it
This is honestly a good book
i loved this book
Oh my god why does everybody hate this book so much? I remember my 6th grade English teacher saying that it was her favorite book ever and telling everyone in the class to read it.
Sometimes poeple don't know what is really interesting and they say nonsense
things.
Thank you Sandra, added to a playlist...
"The House on Mango Street" changed so many lives by merely affirming that they existed. Thank you, Sandra Cisneros!
I loved the book in a lot of times I related which made me understand Esperanza and how she was feeling :D
Love the book...
Fuck you. This book fucking sucks. You mam do not know what the definition of a good book is. I suggest u should read night by Elie Wiesel. His story is realistic and it is very inspirational.
Hey Chris, u suck...just saying..
Chris Beyers ok dude, seriously... we get it. I fucking hate this book too, but you don't need to preach it to the comment section. One comment is enough, no need for the 4 or 5 comments you have made.
***** I understand what you are saying but this book really fucking sucks. This is the internet. On the internet you can voice out your opinion. I don't care if it is the least popular opinion. It's my opinion. There is so many things wrong with this book. I would rather read Romeo and Juliet (which is what I'm reading now in English Class) than this piece of shit of a book.
@@chrisbeyers491 I have no doubt the books you've read were for school and the only books you'll read
I enjoy hearing her speak
The house on MONGO street
It’s Mango but she is pronouncing it in spanish. In Spanish it’s pronounced Mongo.
@@prettybkchick6348 uh no in Spanish its pronounced m-ah-ng-oh but she pronounces mango like that because of her accent
This is the only book I have read in school I actually love. The lessons that's happened to Esperanza is something big and it shows up so many thing
THIS IS GOOD
Loved this book.
I had a friend named Sandra. Un buen encuentro. A great thank you to Sandra Cisneros.
I would Love if Mrs. Cisneros gave more information about the house where the people lived.
Thumps up if you think so.
Yes, you're right about that.
I was just 4 years old when the book was originally published by Arte Publico press in 1984.
I'll read this in class House on Mango Street all that classroom I love this book House of House on Mango Street
I'm a Mexican woman who grew up in Humbolt Park. The stories that are told through the Puertorican people and the Mexicanos there are the things, the stuff that still guides me. I am a social worker and a product of my life there.
I'm finally reading this book (i'm 23) and the introduction alone has me hooked. Can't wait to read it.
TheBackSeat The introduction couldn't be more pretentious
I found a small, tattered paperback copy of The House on Mango Street in a mental health/detox center I was admitted to a few years ago. I needed to cope with the trauma I held inside my spirit by reading something...anything distracting. This book will always have my heart buried inside its pages.
actually, i really like the book, and i like her way of writing and is not even a big book. but everyone has different opinions.... some people don't like to read as much as I do.
Dope! Had to do a full version of the book. Spread the knowledge!
The house on mango street is an interesting read that describes how Esperanza matured throughout her life although
of the book is just describing how the street is and who lives on it I also describes the general real of the street and how people outside of it precieve ot throughout the book Esperanza matures and we sea how she changes and adapts we learn what she wants to be when she is an adult and we also learn about her home life
This is a school report thing
It was very usefull for my oral presentation about the analisis of the book :))) Thankssss!!!
Gaa !!hello!! When I read your comments I was happy!!! Because I need to do what you did!!I have to take an oral examen in two days but I am very nervous because I don't have time to study a lot because I work all day long and I.have to.kids ... if I don't pass this exam I could not enter to the University...if you wish please help me telling me about the book in your own words!!thanks!!!!
@@natym7986 Please send me an e-mail, I'll try to help you. ga.jmnz@gmail.com.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book...I have no idea what the rest of you guys are talking about.
The book is a Chicago book & it is like Nelson Algren's Man With the Golden Arm. Humbolt Park Campbell street. I LOVE this book. it is a woman's book. It is a book that talks about the reality of needing a house. A woman's nest is her house. This is the story of my entire life. I love it.
shes a teacher who says "Teached" ??
English 9A CP unit 1 (activity 23)

I grew up on Mango Street and I love this book

Thanks for the homework.
00:13 The House on Mango Street explores reinventing oneself beyond cultural norms.
01:02 The narrator is often seen as the character Esperanza.
01:39 Personal experiences inspire the stories on Mango Street.
02:20 The House on Mango Street is a neighborhood invented by the author.
02:58 Manipulating time and space as an artist
03:34 The House on Mango Street speaks to young people's isolation and longing.
04:17 Navigating uncertainty and self-discovery
04:50 The House on Mango Street speaks to the transition from childhood to adulthood.
Just listened to her recording of House on Mango Street. Her voice is so unusual, I love it. I didn't like it at first, so soft and sweet, I dont think I was used to actually listening to voices like that and I found it irritating. Before I knew it she had me crying. Those who look down on this book do so in the way we ignore the intelligence and experience of children. There is a place for sophistication but there is also a place for writing like this that communicates what it has to say without any airs, with the frank honesty of a child.
When I watched this video in school, her voice almost made me fall asleep haha. Also I love your pfp. Very nice
@@addiebarr8225 haha thanks
I’m learning this in school 😃👑
It sounds like an amazing story, my teacher is making me watch it. But I'm a little more interested now that I have a view of what it's about.
im here from my LA class
I love her voice
Who is here because you just love this book
🙋🏾
+Itcouldbe Me only u
me too
I think this is a great book. It doesn't follow the traditional structure of a novel, though. It's more like a collection of very poetic vignettes. I think that's what some people here don't like about it. As she says in the video on writing, she was experimenting with genre.
In in 3 grade of my university and I have to read it well today I have the test and I just want to read the summary hahaha but don't be bad! I love the way she speaks I mean she speaks slow and it makes me understand you native English speakers are so fast! And I can't even understand what you say! Four us who are learning English it slowly way is the best option to catch the ideas! ( I was forced as well by my literature teacher!!!
She is soft spoken but very wise and eloquent
Wow I actually finished all of the vignettes from the story I did it at my school
Teacher who says "teached". Nice.
What song is playing in the beginning?
Fuck this shit we need to read this book for summer school and write our own vignettes FUCK!!
Tbh. but as a high schooler, I really enjoy The House On Mango Street.
el libro esta lleno de recursos estilisticos , muy bien :))
the story the book me encanto, and inspired me to tell my story and write
This book is beautifully and creatively written. People who comment saying that this book is shit are little fckers
The only reason why I’m here is for school but I do like the book
@dramaquuen596 can you help me out with some questions on this book?
Options for youth made me come.here lol
I read this in elementary school 🥺
iam a great fun of Sandra Cisneros
Who is watching this in 2020?
I have to write a summary of her background for my pre-collage class😭
Thank you for posting this, knopfgroup.
agreeedddd
0:26 what did she say here? Can someone translate, please? I need to know for my English assignment.
This is a really good story, its really deep and emotional I loved it :)
Same
Who got the answers though
i have to do school work on this book but i cant get a copy of this book...can anyone help me with some questions on this book?
Who is here for school 2023!!! 🎉
What does she say in Spanish in the beginning?
Let's be honest the only reason people are watching this is because of summer school....
So young and already a troll
I fucking hated reading this book in middle school
@sugarclouds61 I think there is most likely something you are missing if its a book dissected at an ivy league level. This book is what set Sandra apart at Iowa Writer's School
I kind of liked the urban legend of Mango Street.......being that Mango is an actual avenue on the North side of Chicago. Oh well :(
@xflyacrosstimex if u have a pdf or word version of book can you send it on my mail?
guys we get it were all here for school otherwise this dude with 600 subs wouldn't get 300k views with only 800 likes...
Lmaoo yes
Who got sent here from school on ELA 😭😭😭
loveball
This makes me wanna pour bleach in my eyes
The two top comments are quite conflicting.
yuhhhh where all my ofl niggas at 💯
Who else in English class rn lmao 😂
i liked it but not a lot im pretty indifferent towards it but i love the messages
@lucas6377 You could always do that instead of writing ignorant comments too.
I’m here because of school. Honestly I just don’t care about this. I rather read a book and write an essay about it than make a presentation about a writer
I have to write what I think about this boom I think ezaperaza was not smart when she gave someone give dallors to be her friend I think that if that person really want to be her friend it shouldn't have to costs anything cause at the end of the day family is all you need she had a sister but she said that she was to young to hang out with her so I think that people show read the book because a lot of people may like the book.
How can I contact this women? Sandra Cisnero, my daughter wrote a paper about you. You must read it!! She is in her senior at a university in Arkanas.
omg im always telling my teacher that esperanza is ungrateful and finally i found people who agree with me
who here for home
Adolescence is much more than trying to fit in and loneliness. However, some adolescents feel that way on the inside while outside, rebellious and disgraceful. The world is common in a male-dominated society, but its a better place if teenage girls remembered they have so much inside of them and don't have to express themselves as snappy anymore. Young women no longer fall into the hands of the famous men they love (damsels in distress). With this book being written, it will help us understand how to fit in with the world, not the people around you.
Who else here is being forced to read it for some humongous summer packets.
Yes same here I hate it , it's so frustrating.
PuppysRcute999 Hands Raised
It stings more because I shouldn't be in summer school in the first place! I mean seriously, what kind of teacher allows a grade to drop from a B+ to a D- just by missing a day where you assigned 3 chapters of TKAMB to read in a day with a 100 point test the next day! Realy!!!
Sorry, just needed to vent. That went on for a week and even though I asked to retake the tests the teacher didn't help at all.
know comment is old but me
