When I was in 5th grade my teacher, Mr. Tucker had us read this book. Our school was a charter school and a lot of the kids came from low income families. Mr. Tucker reached out to Sandra Cisneros and actually got her to visit our school and our class! She read a portion of the book to us. She also spoke about her writing and answered questions about the book. This book always held a special place in my heart, along with that teacher.

Having to write a book report for a College class (Children and adolescents literature). I was excited to find this book in my daughters things, This is a great book! I read this when I was in middle school, and love how it was one of the first books in its time that I could relate with. Thank you for the audiobook I can listen while I am in traffic :)
