    The Spectacle factory is my go to Opticians. First class customer care, a sense that every customer is an individual. A wide range of frames and lense choices, that can be tailored to individual requests. I know this personally as Robert has performed miracles, and given me the spectacles that I always dreamed about. I have tested his products around the world, in the African Bush and American desert. They exceeded the performance I expected and have never let me down. This is why I choose The Spectacle factory over any "High street" chain. Its not about the price, it's about the quality, the fit and the durability of the product that counts.

    I am always honest because my goal is to find out if my new glasses can be repaired & how much it will cost. By being honest I never had to pay any fees.
    Transitions peeling while washing it with fragrance free clear soap. Lens popping out of frame while running on a court. It took 5 trips for the store to finally get it right. I brought in a scratched lens to be replaced with a new lens. They did not replace it & still tried to bill me for it. It took 3 months to finally get replaced.
    Unfortunately since my optician retired every store I've purchased from the lens craftsmanship has been poor. As stated above.
    I now purchase from online. The most expensive online is not necessarily the best. I spent hours watching videos like yours & eye doctors to determine what lenses & coatings I need. Thanks for being so passionate about your job.

      Thank you. I don't blame you heading online when you've experienced bad service. I personally think our industry is plagued by it. I've always aimed to provide world class service in our store and I like to think that's why our customers keep coming back.
      Thanks for the comment!

    I found this just this evening. I have been thinking of going back to school and have had a growing interest in Optician jobs. It definitely sounds like something I could do, as I love working with people and helping people. I've always enjoyed time I've spent picking out glasses with opticians, as they are so friendly and knowledgeable. I want a career that I can become fairly confident in my work while also having things to challenge me from time to time. I have to find out what schools/programs are available for where I live. Do you have any you recommend? Is it better to do something in person as opposed to online for this type of work since it's so hands on? I live in the US. Thank you for this video! I'll definitely be checking out more from this channel.

      @@thespectaclefactory Thank you! Unfortunately, most states it appears no prior training is needed for this job. No certification required. There aren't any schools in my state because of this and pay isn't great.

    Can discuss lens thickness (if you haven’t made one). For those of us with heavy prescriptions. What are some options to get thinner lenses and what are the best frames to hide the thick lenses.

      Pick smaller lenses. I'm -6.75 and -6.50. Trust me. It works. 😁 I used to pick large lenses thinking it would help my peripheral vision. But after suffering pain from hurting ears and face, I was ready to sacrifice my peripheral vision. After all, I'm not a commando or a hunter. I don't need peripheral vision.

    I had Hoya Advantek glasses break while cleaning them with cloth at work. God they were so amazing. But discontinued.
    The optometrist fixed them but I assume that’s why they were discontinued.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Před 2 lety

      Great design! We also had a few pairs break, but most didn't within 3 years. I think they were discontinued simply because they didn't sell many.

    “It’s clear that you drove over them in a dump truck”, that really tickled me! 🤣 I have a relative who is very presbyopic. After one bad experience at a well known high street optical, he swears blind that his £5 drugstore readers are sufficient. 🙈 If only I could convince him to see someone like you; to show him what he’s missing out on. 😏

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Martin. A lot of people are put off nice glasses by their experience with bad glasses, which is sort of counterintuitive but I can understand how he feels based off previous experience.

      He is from Britain.
      I don't know how much he makes, but here in the US if you start as an apprentice it starts at $15/hr, when you get the certificate the pay increases to ~$20/hr, and when you get the Optician License by the state you start at +-$30/hr.
      I think the money is good. You are not slaving away at a warehouse, or working fast food.
      Also, the career is short, so you don't have to spend years in college.
