    Good video. Couple of points to make. When putting the mastic on you want to have one neat continuous line of mastic, that means no gaps and no large blobs just a nice neat continuous line. I noticed when you put the window in it showed and access squeezed out onto the paintwork. This was because of they blobs this you don't want so one continuous no gaps line. Second clean the van surface with acetone before putting primer on helps to remove any oil or wax residue. And third as you did, place the bottom of the window in first as it's easier to get it positioned right this way, if you try to place all the window together a chance you don't quite get position correct. Also have a fire watcher while cutting lot of sparks about and have a fire extinguisher or bucket of water handy just in case. Regards

  • @teeth2k
    @teeth2k Před 4 lety +2

    Another tip I’d recommend is if you have 2 people get one to offer up the window before you primer it and from the inside draw with a pencil around the window, that way you will get a great line to primer to and add the adhesive too that way standing a better chance of not having leaky windows,
    Ps make sure not to block the window drain holes

    another great video, thanks. Looking for re-fit one my sliding door window next week as the current one has a corner sticking out. Do you put much pressure on the window when pressing it in place ( I want it as flush to the van as poss

    • @GDUBTV
      @GDUBTV  Před 4 lety +1

      It should sit flush, if you're removing the window check it before refitting to make sure it's not out of shape. Also check you've followed the inner skin as tightly as possible, any excess metal could prevent it fitting properly👊🏼😎

    Cut the corner radius first and you will not damage the panel as much and will end up with a neater job. Got to hand it to you tho you get the job done. Good video ..

      Thanks pal, I should have used a hole saw, would have been much easier! If I do it again I will, but have done quite a few this way, but makes it a bit harder 🤣🤣

    i have the same sliding window, the company who fitted mine didnt fit a bloody rubber trim so it just looks a mess on the inside

    • @GDUBTV
      @GDUBTV  Před 4 lety

      Yeah you can carpet trim over the inner edge if you've got the time to, I went for a rubber trim to save on time.

      @@GDUBTV Wish i would have known as i would have told them to do the same. even after carpeting it will probably look like a balls up, the window is straight but from the inside the sliders aren't, is yours the same?

  • @lurcho101
    @lurcho101 Před 4 lety +2

    Good effort on fitting the window, maybe should try using a flap disc to clean rather the file as that looked hard going?
    Also just wondering if you have looked into the new camper van rules? And thinking about doing a video on the subject?
    Keep the vids coming enjoy watching

      @OllieUK22 Před 4 lety +1

      @@GDUBTV Agreed, it's the best review I've seen but still leaves questions unanswered. Any refusals since the new rules appear to be based on the ability for law enforcement to identify your van as a camper, so 80's swirly graphics required;-0

    • @GDUBTV
      @GDUBTV  Před 3 lety

      It prevents any current or static shorting any of your electrics or sensors. It’s just a precautionary measure. Probably loads of folk that wouldn’t bother, but it won’t do any harm!
