Humanity's salvation began in a small Georgia town, where Joseph Seed heard a voice. "Save as many as you can. Whether they wish to be saved or not." Joseph preached the coming Collapse, recruiting misguided souls into the Project at Eden's Gate. As the cult grew, Joseph moved them to Hope County, Montana to settle New Eden, becoming known as "The Father".
In Montana, Joseph befriended local priest and Gulf War veteran, Jerome Jeffries, coercing his congregation to join the cult.
Joseph's siblings, the Heralds, then recruited the rest of Hope County.
John, a ruthless lawyer, secured land and converts using blackmail and coercion.
Faith, the pacifist, spread the Father's message of salvation.
Jacob, the military marksman, locked down the county with modern weaponry and upgraded aircraft.
When Jerome objected to their methods, the cult beat him and left him for dead.
You are the Deputy Sheriff dispatched to arrest Joseph Seed, but you'll find yourself surrounded by an army of cultists. Navigate the Montana wilderness, recruit resistance fighters like Mary
May Fairgrave, whose father was driven to suicide by the cult. Or crop-duster Nick Rye whose plane could come in handy. Or a giant bear because video games. Together you'll save Hope County in this "work of entertainment" definitely not inspired by today's politics. But you’ll probably just go fishing with Hurk instead.

But even then I really don’t think at least in the far cry universe that the gov would care all that much. Specifically cause if you do a quest for a returning character from far cry 3 he becomes chief of staff and just say “Oh well good luck.”
If this were to happen in real life, the National Guard would immediately be dispatched.

too be fair there is a imminent war going on (WW3 to be exact) and a nuke actually went off in Moscow (as can be heard by a radio message)
on this scale, yeah, they'd send them in after the atf and local law enforcement don't come back

Also the reason for the nuclear warfare in the bad ending was because of the different countries fighting, you can hear it on the radio in the end of the game

@@RusSherop Yeah, because the other scene is shorter and ends before the nukes happen, and the fight with Joseph goes on for like another couple minutes.

I know, the other female options are weird, like grace is badass but she kinda boring, jess is just weird, and Adelaide has Karen energy. Mary May would be really cool

The big iconic church in FarCry5 is from my current town Merritt BC, Canada.
It is true.
They came up here with 3d cameras, electronic measuring devices ie. Lasers.
They took photos of every angle possible. Coolest thing ever to see a church i drive by almost daily in a game.
Best part? Its in front of a highschool. Across the soccer field. Kind of inspiring for kids in the school.
Its also where they shot some of the scenes for the commercial. Just read it now.

These kinds of videos are just to start off the plot of the game before playing but doesn't spoil anything.
You forgot that he left Georgia because he was suspected of murder and kidnapping. But still great!
Outlast 2 was inspired by the Jim Jones cult. I'm sure this game was inspired by the Waco cult in Texas.
Branch Davidian. I don't know enough to know how much of a threat they really were. I do know there is something wrong with the idea that in order to save those children, the US had to kill those children by burning them alive... That scandal alone should have made Bill Clinton a pariah.
I’m from the Waco area. The event is considered a massacre by most locals. It’s still living memory for a lot of people here.

"Bribed the government" is kinda unspecific. I doubt the cult reached far beyond that valley or county and into higher levels. The intro more specifically mentions "the cops", without being to specific as to what level. But "the cops" seems to refer to local law enforcement in that context.
We then get to see or hear that Nancy, the Dispatch operator, is part of it, which may be what they referred to. But it is also apparent that the Sherriff and three other deputies and the "external" (federal) Marshall are NOT bribed or part of the cult. Not sure how big that particular cop force is and if more exist beyond those captured or sent there.
There's no mention of the dog

Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, i use it. The guy with plane takes too long to kill somebody, it can take 10 seconds before he gets to fire the minigun and in that time you have killed them. Even the pets kills faster than the plane guy.
I think he forgot to mention that the legal reason the deputy is there lol, it's somewhat important to the lore as it ties in with the live action short film

I tend to think she's a surrogate for either an actual sister he had who died when he was a kid or his daughter who he put out of her misery after she nearly died in the car crash that killed his wife.
The girl we know as 'Faith' was a drug addled drifter with a fractured sense of self and no self-esteem... easy enough for a sociopath like Joseph to turn into whatever the hell he wants her to be... with or without the drugs... but the Bliss is certainly a drug unlike anything she would have ever experienced before turning up in Hope County.

Far Cry 5 lore is a big nonsense. Why don't he just pick one of these planes and fly outside to return with national guard? Just like the Marshal suggested at the beginning

They did not have any anti-air guns. By the way how the hell no one outside the county did not notice missing FBI Marshal and deputy? I mean game did not convince me that they were really stuck there. Felt like a forced plot.
