- In this video, I'd like to show you how to handle simple, yet tricky, hard surface shapes in Blender. It's a lot easier than you might think.

Josh - this is really really helpful. As a native Solidworks/Fusion360 design-builder, and recent apprentice operator to the kick-ace world of Blender, this workflow and attitude is EXACTLY OnPoint. Mahalo bro!
Alt+E give you the option to extrude along the normals immediately! Great vid!
Yes, as for I do, Alt+E gets used very very often
Yes! Alt + E to extrude on normals such a great tool
Phew! I modeled it - great excersize. You guys have transformed my Blender experience! Thanks Bro's!!
*Bros
i'm learning so much from you. thanks a lot!
Awesome tutorial!
thanks for your great videos budd
Most useful tutorial...i really love it👍🇮🇳
That auto-filling using the F key was new for me...
Thank you!
Great ideas for model! I did that with Qblocker addon.
Hey Josh Gambrell, I really like yours videos, Keep up :D
Thank You So Much For Give us the best tutorial :D
Can you do more upcoming tutorial about organic/subdv hard surface :D
Thanks for sharing! Any advice on how to model top curvy part of Canon Powershot PX ?
Hey, good video. For future videos i would recommend a editing soft
Cool
I watched Ponte´s video and got instant inspiration. I really like videos like this. a shame they are so short. I just love watching this stuff. thanks.
NOICE
This is great! But i wanted to know if the Topology is good as well. Is it?
Nice video, I am having some issues when it comes to apply the inset boolean, I've tried to do like you did in the video, alas it's not applied and slows the computer, when I try it with a box it works I can't understand what is happening
EDIT: I've remade all the steps EXCEPT the bevel for all the figures and then it has worked
how do you always get those rough white edges on your geometry? even on your starting cube.
i ve just been introduced to some add-ons I never heard of before (I am trainee), how much do they make your work easier, or are they worth buying? Like .. should I consider convincing my management to purchase them?
hey man what is hot key you using to toggle between face edge and vertex mode
Honesty in Blender!
Thanks you. How did you make the edge color white glow? Peoples write that you can do it in the textured effect on solid mod, but I did not find it
It's called "Cavity" ;)
@@DadicekCz, thanks, i found it: Shading --> Cavity :)
@@kriegelbaum glad to read that 😌
First noob question of the day - what are you using Josh for the quick symmetry - your speed is just amazing - thank you for so much help within the blendev community :)
HardOps
MESHmachine
Hi ,My I ask you ? which version of blender do you use ?
i need some help at 6:01 when i use shift + E and try to change crease value it makes some weird holes in the faces. if i turn off subsurf it looks just fine but again that makes it too low poly
im a complete newbie btw :D
Hey Josh, do you think if it's practically possible to model such complex shapes with specific angles and dimensions (to add another layer of challange for further practice). Or it's a better idea to switch to Solidworks for precision modeling altogether?
Kind of a tricky question but I'd really appreciate you if you could share your thoughts!
As a regular user/designer in Solidworks/Fusion360, I am learning to "let go" and extinguish the need for "5 Nines" precision while Blender'n. Meshwork is not equal to Parametric Modelers. A large diff between the two platforms is the non-existence of "mates" in Blender. However, I tend to set my units (mm, in) accordingly when I start a design in Blender, IOT capture the scale order of magnitude for the assy. Importing an STL, saved from a model in Solidworks, into Blender is cool but not super clean. Massive tessellated surfaces. But, it has its place. I tend to concept in Blender and then work in SW for an actual project that will be CNC laser cut (metallics), bent (press brake), and joined (fusion welded, aircraft rivets). Blender, IMPO, allows a designer/artist to be way more creative and explore the Art of the Possible.
@@kenw8875 Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. I didn't quite understand this part "IOT capture the scale order of magnitude for the assy", could you elaborate, please?
Any HSM Sverchok or geometry nodes vids soon?
cool video but where's the link in the description to check rio's video out?
I can't find the link to the impossible shape tutorial shown at the beginning, anyone can help me out??
czcams.com/video/2RBVj6swqBU/video.html
It's quite a simple idea that the guy used there. I think you can even try figuring this out by yourself first. I think you will come up with the same approach in the end
if your half circle isnt rotating properly you need to click the icon at the top that looks like the attachment icon in email (labeled median point). set it to 3d cursor and ensure your cursor is at the world origin. then it will rotate around the x axis instead of rotating in some weird un-useful way. side note its hard to follow any of your tutorials due to the use of so many paid addons. is there a way to mirror natively in blender? if these were advanced videos it would make sense to pay $80 in addons to follow along but this is meant for new people xD.
does the reverse bevel have a secret ? things just get glitchy it seems
By the time you set up all the conditions needed to do the symmetrize, you pretty much did the same amount of work just doing loop cut and pen tool, but there is a third way that didnt need any of that extra work.... top view wire frame, select all the segments you want the loop cut to go through and subdivide by 1.
Alt+x supose to mirror shortcut acording to this vídeo but doesnt work for me
dear how we take the job after follow all your vide tutorial
None of these shortcuts you use work. Does this have anything to do with the version of blender or some special tool?

where is imrossible shape tutorial link?i want to see
How to Smart Apply?
Ok but what about the topology ??
It is another history😄
what addons do you use for this sorcery?????
Boxcutter, Hardops, Machine tools
im actually clapping while watching this
0:40 don't u have auto-saves? '^'
i love you..
Josh: "I forgot to save."
Me: *Notices PowerSave Add-On is enabled.
SMH my head my dude.
0:24 this „impossible „ shape is done in 30sec on Plasticity 3D 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I can model stuff like that without plugins, but for some reason I just can't figure how to actually make money from it.
Dude. SAME. That is my issue with almost everything I do.
I unable to view your Blender 3D viewer too black edge sorry.
I hate the incorrect use of the word 'impossible'! lol
If the shape was impossible, it would not exist! The other video you showed the thumbnail to has the use right as it's a question: "Impossible shape?" but you called it an impossible shape without forming it as a question of its possibility!
BTW, bad form to mention someone else's video, say you will include a link to it and then not include the link anywhere! It's disrespectful to the other creator!
you are full of hatred. they are a team (professional team)
too hard and non understandable
he said would not explain the basics
Friend, if this is a tutorial, then why don't you turn on the keyboard display? The lesson is good, but no one needs it. Since it is very difficult to understand your actions and logic. If it's not difficult for you, rewrite the lesson with the display of keys.
