I love seeing vids with fan created ships because sometimes it makes me realise what needs to be improved in the future :)
Landing gear was never really made in detail as we didn't render the ship on the ground. I thought that it would have about 6 or 8 legs on the bottom that would stick out just enough for the ship to not land on its bare hull. The trapezoid dark elements near the bottom rear would be good spots but as I said, nothing was really made.
Hey man that's awesome you commented! I love your work I've seen it for a while now but haven't really got into fan ships. Glad you liked the vid and the viewers seem to really love it so maybe I'll make it a regular part of the channel
And yeah I almost called the trapazoid things the landing gear but thought it would be flat and wide enough to work without. It was amazing that you can see all these details and that they seem functional as you look around the ship.
Actually, those spots look to be where the treads were to start with, I could see the Jawas just making then retractable for landing or something.
I really love the design and think the idea of space fairing scavengers is an awesome concept. I feel that this would be a perfect ship for a smallish pirate crew and I can see it slowly getting more and more upgrades as the time went by until it eventually, much like the Millennium Falcon, became a state of the art hunk of junk.
This would be an awesome kit bash model to make.

Imagine Them shooting back with ion cannons/blasters who are harmless to humanoids yet quite *stunning* for droids
That's why it would be a crazy shootout, idk how anyone can miss though with those circle beams of stun energy
Then just have one organic sneak onboard and take the Jawas out. To be really evil, wear armour that makes you look like a protocol Droid or similar humanoid shape, they'll keep hitting you with ion guns and you'll be unaffected and peg them, while they're wondering why you don't fall.
p.s. Ion guns? Those would've been useful against the CIS.…

No, the TRUE endgame would be much more scary... to the imperials here. If they had been able to carry on, they would get more jawas, more parts, more crawlers, more engines... and just keep slowly building bigger. Soon they would steal PROPER manufacturing equipment too, beyond what their foundries alone can do. And tractor beams. And proper mining and refining equipment. Does a vessel containing all of these sound familiar, perhaps? It is known as the *WORLD DEVASTATOR,* and it is quite possibly the TRUE ultimate weapon of the Empire of the Dark Hand. Think that, except its a bit less reliable, and is composed of all of jawa culture and creativity.

Jawas do seem like a natural choice for flying space junk around mining asteroids. And for flying space junk around pirate asteroids.
Jawas could even salvage derelicts found drifting in space, making them spaceworthy with whatever kitbash parts they can obtain.

I imagine this thing as being always one failure from a massive explosion, balancing right on that knife-edge of always being bodged and duct-taped back together slightly faster than it goes wrong. And that gives it a certain personallity that I like.
I can imagine these space Jawas finding the remains of the battle of exegol and going completely stonks.

The amount of detail that all the Star Wars vehicle's and weapons have is astounding. It really helps to create a more realistic story and it just wouldn't have been as good if all of these thing's were oversimplified.
Edit : I think lucas knew his audience would be very interested in finding out how it all worked.

It’s such a good design it perfectly turns the sand crawler into a freighter. I really hope this becomes canon or atleast mentioned in some EU book.
Well, there are fanon ships that made it either to Canon or Legends, I don't see a reason why this one wouldn't make it into official continuity

I guess Jawa scavengers are also Jawa hoarders, greedy and territorial and clannish, so I guess this hybrid vehicle idea makes sense.
But it still seems like it would be a whole lot less effort to somehow obtain a proper spaceship from a spaceport.

Would love to see a small Planetary Defense Force fending off a pirate raid. Would be cool to see some not well known or seen ships in action.

Could almost see the rear end being the star drive section. Detaching or being dismantled as the crawler section goes about it's on-planet business.
Then returning or being reassembled when the Jawas wanted to move on.
Unlike a lot of fan-made ships, this one seems like it could easily be canonical
I doubt it would of been possible with their devious nature, but it would have been really cool if he hired all those jawas for his shop.

A fleet of these could probably strip everything in an area (like the remains of a major space battle) completely in a fairly quickly like army ants or locusts.

wow never thought id see jawas giving someone such a run for there money before I mean my goodness. also could you imagin an entire clan like a large one that had like a half dozzen of these. or had a raiding variant to do there pirate raids, a living variant for the clan people, and a building one to make stuff. imagin a fleet of jawa ships good lord.
That sounds terrifyingly logical, or as a certain pointy-eared science officer of another famous starship would say, "Fascinating." You could have one massive clan or several clans all living together in a fleet of Starcrawlers, traversing the Outer Rim and selling all manner of goods. The largest Starcrawler would most likely be their version of a flagship, and then you would have your raiders/merchantmen, your civilian vessels for living, and of course your spacefaring foundries for building and maintaining this sputtering, rickety fleet. You could have several of these fleets traveling around the Mid and Outer Rims, rarely ever traversing into the Core worlds unless they have something that they know the other species will pay a lot of credits for. They could also have some kind of giant swap meet or flea market in space. There really is nothing stopping them from doing such a thing
That's pretty cool. I don't think the normal reactor could power the additional systems though, especially engines and hyperdrive. It would probably need a second (or replacement) power source.

alright this is kind of awesome, this is the first time ive heard of this but about a month ago me and my friends started a star wars dnd session, and i made a space fairing jawa, but needed a similar backstory but without this ship i had to come up with my own, instead in my story the original jawas to steal a ship had taken a zygerian slave ship and the clan flew in this thing for four generations of jawa until the start of the clone wars when it got shot-down and was irreparably damaged, and thus starts my jawas session as he is off in search of a new ship to commandeer to rebuild their clan
A self repair ship that makes what it needs slap a sheild on it id use it

It would be cool if the front section still opened, but instead of a boarding ramp it was a sort of mouth that took in debris and scrap floating in space. Like after a space battle had occurred, one of these ships would fly through the wreckage and take in any parts the jawas could use, almost like a space basking shark.

It would be cool if Jawad made this better by making the landing gear treads, so it could work on land and in the skies. I can imagine a scenario where a sand crawler would be attacked, then it just retracts the treads and flies off.

Darth Vader aboard the Executor use the tractor beam to capture a misterious ship after an encounter with the Rebels, stormtroopers inspect the entire ship but found nobody. Then many reports of various systems around the Executor being sabotage start to come in. Vader order his soldiers to find and kill any intruder, knowing that the crew of the misterious ship is responsable. After an intense inspection they found nobady, but the super star destroyer systems were still being sabotage. Then Vader and the officers hear sounds from the walls, "the ventilation system" Vader says "but there shouldn't be anyone small enough to..." suddenly a voice is hear "Utini". After many years, Vader felt the fear invade his body and knew that there was no escape. The officers asked Vader what his orders were, but he just said one thing "we're all going to die"...
Cool ship - neat idea - I approve of Space Jawas.
Thing is, that would be a easy ship to take out, even if it was working properly.
Just fly underneath or behind, as long as you stay below the horizontal, and they can't touch you. And without shields it couldn't take many hits. I imagine a ion gun would short it out pretty fast considering how unreliable the electrics would be.
And it definitely couldn't outmaneuver any similar or smaller sized ship.
Ironically they probably would have fallen prey to some real pirates pretty soon, and that junkyard operator could have hunted them down and taken them with little more than a hyperspace equipped snubfighter if he'd studied them.
Just ion the ship and let them use the escape pods, or if you're feeling homicidal blow a small hole in the side and let the atmosphere vent.
What would be interesting is taking the parts foundry, fixing it up a bit/upgrading it. And installing it on a proper working fully functional ship, like a CR-90 or a YV-929, or something bigger that it wouldn't take up all the space inside.
Or just get a Starfleet ship with replicators…

@@bluerobin2982 the vanguard. imagian a venitor exempted using its entiranal space for generators for more weapons and firepower. I have like a dozen versions of it without a relally final verson. one had it having 4 penta heavy turbolazers at the back of the ship. 2 on top and 2 on bottom.
another had 20 quad heavy turbo, ion, and lazer cannon. the 20 turbo would be where the heavy turbo lazers would be on the regular with 5 on each side, total of 10 on top and 10 on bottom. there would be 3 for each group that would be behind each other but would be the front one at a low height and the back ones higher in order to fire over each other. then the other 2 per group would be close to them simplary but going off to the side. like the belitor and its quad turbo lazer batters but opposite direction. then the 20 heavy ion cannons would just have them most likly 10 on each side of the trenches. then for the 20 heavy lazer would have 5 on each side of the hanger opening thing (on the vangard it would not open) and about in the middle. then there would be 2 super heavy long range ion cannon where the command bridges would normal be. and the command brigens would be in the area in the middle ara between the towers below. the man metle are around the core . the comand brige would be there. And there is a few more but i think this is good.

A glorious idea.
This is essentially what happens all the time in a game called "Space Engineers." You make something, let's say a rover, but then you need it to perform different roles. What do you do? You retrofit some thrusters onto it and turn your little red rover into a little red freighter.
This video ended up inspiring me to turn my rover in Space Engineers into a star ship, something that has become a "signature trick" of mine over the years. I make shit fly that was never supposed to

When I heard the 30 astromechs I assumed it would be a sucker trap with them all pretending to be captured and then open fire once taken inside, having some sort of restraining bolt override hidden in their design.
But then you could also just load gas canisters inside the droids as well and remote detonate or use a timer to fumigate the little bastards on the ship.
But a full on assault using the one thing Jawas are good against with their ion guns … astromechs?
That would be cage match material, he should have installed cameras on all the droids for the likes.

It is rumoured that the original sand crawler could fly and land on the surface of a planet and then drive around looking for iron ore deposite's , however thry could not take off again as they weigh to much ,and this is why they were left behind on tatooine where the indigenous jawas eventually moved into them .

Starcrawler is a cool ship, cool band too.
Plot twist: If not for their unfortunate end, they would have basically ended up slowly accruing more jawa crew members and more parts, effectively turning the Star Crawler into a less reliable version of the World Devastators. ...But eventually perhaps just as terrifying. More crawlers, more foundries, and soon stealing parts from manufacturing facilities and other fun things too. Yes. Perhaps the end result could have very well been the World Devastator: Jawa Edition.

TBH, the Jawas would probably be the only xeno race the Adeptus Mechanicus would likely recruit, seeing as both Jawas & Mechanicus have a intimate & romantic fetish for technology.
Not only that, but imagine a clan of Jawas that cybernetically enhance themselves as well as use the tech they salvage to reverse-engineer & create all-new tech. That would be awesome & would make me fear for my life as well.
