See if you can start to lear a game engine like Unity or Unreal. That way when you are learning you can start prototypying right away!

What will look good on a game design portfolio? I’m very curious, because I want to work as a game designer.

Try to work on a variety of games that look polished or that have cool and interesting mechanics. Get your games into festivals to see if you can get nominated for awards. Try not to just put up clones of other games.

You need to have something that looks like the type of game that the studio you're applying at is working on. For example, I used to work at Treyarch, and people only got interviewed if they had levels that look like a military or futuristic shooter. Having a 2d platformer isn't going to help you get a job at a studio that makes Call of Duty. If you want to work at Naughty Dog, you need a 3rd person game that resembles Uncharted or The Last of Us. If you want to work at Ubisoft, then you need to be good at making large, open world levels. It all depends on where you're applying at, cater your portfolio to show you're the best fit for their studio. And you don't need your portfolio to have complete games that take hours to beat, they can be individual levels.

    Hey your videos are great❤️
Just wanna ask how can someone get knowledge about gane design...
Is it like through course...or any online stuff...or just experience making and playing games....
I mean is it like study or you just get it as much as you make or play game...
    Thanks😊

I think both things are useful. Getting the theory behind game design can allow you to get an understanding of how games work but making games give you that experience of actually implement features and playtesting.
