Based in Aberdeen, Grampian Television was founded as the ITV franchise for the North of Scotland in 1960. Grampian went on the air on 30 September 1961. It was bought by the parent company of STV - the Channel 3 broadcaster in Central Scotland - in 1997. The name Grampian Television was retired in 2006 and the station is now known on-air simply as STV.
My next logo history will be on Virgin Video. - Zábava
"Scotland the Brave" is the tune that runs through all the earlier idents, but notice that in the first one, it is counterpointed with "Crimond" ("The Lord's My Shepherd").
Good video Jonty! Grampian's idents from 1969 and 1985 are my favourites. Looking forward to the Virgin Video LH video.

The 1969 heavenly jingle ident was my favourite
I have two favourite idents from Grampian, being the 3rd ident and the animated version of the 4th ident.

1:54 Grampian showed a monochrome version of that one at the end of a Laurel and Hardy film (I forget it’s title and whether it was standard for other b/w films).
Do you know Selena Quintanilla-Perez? If you don’t, I’ll tell you her story. She was born in 1971, born to parents Marcella and Abraham. In 1980-1981, Selenas dad created a restaurant but it didn’t go to well, Selena and her siblings (Suezette, AB) were in a band with her called Selena Y Los Dinos. Fast forward to 1989, she released 5 albums from 1989 to 1995. In 1992 she married Chris Perez was which the guitarist for the band. And In 1993-1994, she met yolcaca saldivar (the woman to killed her in 1995), on March 31, 1995 she died cause of yolcaca due to a gun shot. Selena was only 23 years old, wanted to have a family. And if your a Jennifer Lopez fan she played Selena in the 1997 movie Selena. And I’m 2020-2021 Netflix released her story “Selena The Series”

Grampian started colour broadcasting in 1969? Oh wow that's amazing hahaha 😂
Grampian actually began broadcasting in colour in September 1971, to coincide with their 10th anniversary. Colour broadcasting was an expensive undertaking for the ITV franchises, and the smaller companies, such as Grampian, took longer to transition compared to the larger companies, which had done so along with the move to UHF in 1969.

Not only that, but the second one, showing the logo zooming in as the word GRAMPIAN forms, is a little bit ATV-esque as well. Obviously referring to the original Zoom ident.
