London Weekend Television (LWT for short) was the ITV network franchise holder for Greater London and the Home Counties at weekends, broadcasting from Fridays at 5.15 pm (7:00 pm from 1968 until 1982) to Monday mornings at 6:00. On October 27, 2002, the network was followed by a final signoff featuring continuity announcers Glen Thompsett and Trish Bertram appearing 'in-vision' to toast the departing station, and a montage of LWT presentation across the years, assembled by senior ITV presentation producer Gareth Randall.

To walk down the South Bank and see the LWT studios shut down, covered in scaffolding and ready to be brought to the ground - ITV should be ashamed of itself.

Fun Fact: Happy Monster Band was actually distributed by LWT in the UK surprisingly even though the channel went defunct in 2004, the COMPANY is still running

LWT isn’t actually defunct, it is dormant company under ITV plc.
This is a lie. LWT didn't distribute that show, it's an American programme.

It's interesting how LWT was the last ITV franchise region to operate at weekends only. Before LWT was launched in the late 1960s a number of other ITV regions had different companies operating at weekends only with a separate company operating for weekdays

I think something is up with the video because it just freezes on the ITV generic variant for half the runtime.

The sound of the lwt trumpet gets so annoying after you have heard it for the 5th time. but the logo crashing that will always be funny.

ah, nicam digital stereo. who remembers that?
for some reason when I watched this just now, the visuals stuck at the end of the last itv generic ident (the one with the Nicam symbol) but it kept playing.
I'm having the same problem too. I don't know how to fix it, unfortunately.

At 13:15, that version of the 86 LWT logo was used before imported programmes/films. 13:08 was used before networked LWT programmes on the ITV Network. 13:47 was the version used in the London region before voiceovers into often other ITV company programmes/idents.
Genisis and Solari were the versions. Solari was for local programmes.

What happened after the 1990 itv logo, all i get is a still of the lwt 1990 logo
I seriously don't know.
If you go to their Wikipedia pages EVERY REGION ITV OWNS, except Northern Ireland now has the same modern undulating ITV logo + the name of the region. Northern Ireland's station (formerly Ulster TV, now UTV) has the last two letters in same ITV font following a big "U".
Scottish TV, now STV, has a different logo and font and the station is NOT OWNED BY ITV, but still under an affiliation contract.
LWT was bought by ITV in 2002 and their 3-striped letters became their LAST logo* (in 2000 they had the letters LWT below the new-at-the-time ITV "sharp" logo.
* if you watch YT clips from their last broadcast day in 2002 they were still using the tri-striped letters with a smaller ITV1 logo from that year below, replacing the one in 2000
This is still going on at 2022 as watching it now. Maybe re post it with the missing part.

It was originally going to be Pickwick Video, but the first logo has copyrighted music, so I had to trim it out and choose a different company.

What happened to LWT?
LWT was one of several regional affiliates / franchisees of ITV (Independent Television), which on 2002 started to ditch the system and gradually bought all of their affiliates, except for STV (formerly Scottish TV), which is still a separate company from ITV plc.
ITV stations in all UK regions (incl. Northern Ireland and the Channel islands), except for Scotland, are now O&O (owned and operated) by ITV itself.
Regional broadcasting died in 2002. LWT Studios later became London Studios (I went there once for a recording of Mock the Week), but I think the building's since been demolished.

LWT was one of the companies who are part of Rupert Murdoch investments, he saved the station to hroke in early 70s, at this time the company was tried to copy the Thames programation formula and be cult and liberal like them but failed, was only Rupert Murdoch appear in England to make your programation culture and become conservative and populist, this formula become really good and give profitable business, if the IBA decided to make the franchise round in 1973 (they originally don't do because of the highest costs of colour equipments to the franchisees) LWT have probably lost the licence of channel 3 in weekend

+JontyMaster; for the life of me, I’m really hoping you just ‘like’ fonts, and have NOTHING whatsoever to do with them, professionally, because anyone - at the most BASIC level - would be told; DON’T use more than 2-3 fonts (TOPS!), and make SURE they’re all EASY TO READ.
This nightmare of yours (0:13), a ‘bouillabaisse’ of riotous clashing colours and fonts (and fonts which aren’t ‘reader-friendly’, but are usually found in’’ headline fonts’, meaning they’re meant to be used SPARINGLY, instead you’ve used so many, and have jammed them tightly together - all jammed into a TINY area, it’s UNREADABLE unless you PAUSE to read it
It’s like a cliché of what one SHOULDN’T DO!
I understand your frustration, but I believe it shouldn't be that big of a deal, and I can create my content and use as many fonts in MY own channel as I please, thank you very much :-/

The video freezes and will not play beyond a certain point. Tried it on mt TV and laptop. Same on my mobile.
Yeah I know. It's a bummer. Have no clue how to fix it but am thinking of doing an updated version of this. No idea when tho.
