Thank you Sean . Right now i have the number one record in my country . All because of you Thank you !! from #Tanzania 🇹🇿🇹🇿🇹🇿
This video made my mixing 10x better. thanks forreal!
Thank you very much for your tutorial and please continue doing your tutorial. God bless you.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH , VERY CLEAR ADVICE. QUICK AND TO THE POINT.
Thanks a lot for your incredible tutorials !!
never approached my mix this way i normally just blend in a 2nd take off the lead but I love this trick and will try it my next mix. thanks for the tutorial bro 💯💯
no problem!
thank you for the information. much success.
great Stuff as always Sean !!
To be honest I loved the way it sounds as a pure distortion. It basically adds a double compression.
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Brilliant distortion/saturation tip - thanks a lot man!
sure thing!
That's literally what tube amps do, you just do it by hand with plugins and mixing. Awesome.
A lot of Carolina references! Dope artist 🎨
Great information! Thank you!
sure thing :)
Awesome bro !
I hope you will post more tutorials in Logic Pro X . One small thing, it really nice if you show tutorial how to mix vocal with autotune - pitch correction (30-40% for autotune)
Thank you very much !
So helpful. Thanks!
:) you're welcome
I USE TO RECORD, AND I LEARNED HOW TO DO THIS THANKS FOR THE REFRESHER COURSE, AND YOU EXPLAIN ON SOME GOOD POINTS! THANKS BRAH!
+Keith Diamond no problem!
Q: on the vocal did the artist record vocals separated cause I see a stereo wav block for vocals are you did a mixdown to put both voc together and did you put the distortion on a bus for the entire voc are just one of them and then mix in with other voc acrodenly to give fuller sound
mehn,this dude is too good!Nice stuff,Sean!!!!
:) appreciate it Peter
You are the man
🤜
Hey Sean , another great video. I notice that you use quite a few waves plugins on vocals, but I don't see you using the cl 76 and cl2a for vocals. I thought those two were a must for pro vocals. Is it just a preference thing?
I use the 76 and 3a quite a bit, just not in this video :)
I think that automation would be much better sollution in this example, you can't just compress till its flat, but still fan of your tutorials
Automation is very useful but not practical to regulate dynamics entirely in most cases. It depends on the style of vocal and the sound you're after. For rap vocals, an upfront heavily compressed sound is desirable but not to the point it sounds squashed or flat, which this mix was not. Thanks for watching!
Hello Sean I just watched your How To Fatten Up Your Lead Vocals Thanks for sharing this it's a big help. Sean my question to you is can you blend in the distortion trick with R&B, and other genre beside the Rap genre.
Thanks,
Tony D.
I have seen it used in other genres aswell
First off, Thanks for posting all your tutorials. They are all AWESOME!!...I've had a question that I can't find the answer to, maybe you could help...Is it a good idea to record main rap vocals with a shure SM7b and backup vocals with an akg c214? Or should I stick to just 1 mic for everything?
The sm7b and c214 are both nice sounding mics. Why would you need to record backups with a different mic? If you get good results that way, then I would say keep doing it but it's not necessary. You can process the backup vocals differently in the mix if needed. Hope this helps!
nice
It looks like the beat is clipping. That track sounds legit!
Love it! Quick question, how do you record your screen while talking and also playing audio?
+Chris Jayden I'm using camtasia
Great video man. Thanks for taking your time and showing us some secret stuff. God bless you.
My question is which ,,waves plugins" can do the exact same thing like your ,, Gain" plugin.
I'm asking because I use Fl studio. I ain't got Gain.
do you mean making the signal mono?
+Sean Divine yes. I mean a plugin from waves that can change the master channel to mono. You said in the that we should always check the mix in mono when mixing
+Sean Divine yes. I mean a plugin from waves that can change the master channel to mono. You said in the that we should always check the mix in mono when mixing
try the s1 imager, if you set width to zero that will be mono
+Sean Divine thanks very much
Is there a free alternative to this Rack 5 VST?
If I want to teach something too, what program do I need to record the daw, me and allow people to hear what I'm doing?
I’m going to add saturation too. Is stock saturation in Ableton?
Should I master the instrumental prior to the vocal mixing?
I have a question why I see many people recording a sound they recorded on mono but not stereo what is the difference between mono and stereo please an answer!
Thank you for replying back to me. But i cant't find the downloading link. Can you help me out, please?
Hello Sean Divine, nice tutorial and great tips but I was wondering why you did not have a gain stage plug-in on your tracks? just curious?
There's no such thing as a "gain stage plug in". Gain staging is a technique of setting the input and output levels on each stage of your chain.
other tutorials eq first then compress, I've even seen dressing first then eq, compression again. seems this way is even more in your face. what is your opinion on
eq/compression which is more likely To go first
Subtractive EQ->Compression->Additive EQ
Rize X Great formula
from where can i get the waves plugins
Hi Sean, thanks for this tutorial.
But Sean, can i have access to download some of these tutorials you are sending to some of your friends?
I am really finding it very difficult to watch all of these on the INTERNET .
Please Sean.
Hi Ibrahim, the tutorials on my website are downloadable
So can we download a micpreamp
can you do a video on mixing adlibs and how thin the vocals have to be so the adlibs have room to sound really clean and in pocket
+Malik Harris yea man, I'll try to get that up for you soon!
+Sean Divine thanks man i watch your videos all the time and you made my creativity expand to heights i would never think as audio engineers also i see that adlibs go from left to right in some songs
✔
which of logic's own saturation plug ins would you recommend for someone who doesn't have the one you used in the video?
Hey Yakiraw, you could use the distortion or also the bitcrusher. Here's a video on a trick to get tape saturation with the logic tape delay - czcams.com/video/IWyN1W8IGek/video.html
What are the benefits of using the de-esser after the compressor, instead of using it before in the chain? Thanks!
you use it after compressor cause the compressor is brining up the S:es
man how do you get the track to sound so clear and crisp? My tracks are lacking that 😢😢
J & A Productions a lot of it has to do with the recording being good from the jump. if you have a shitty source, mixing wont help. the saying you cant polish a turd really is true.
its no video on actually setting up the signal path and setting up and going from preamp to compressor
stay tuned :)
how come my recorded vocal graphs look so much smaller? did you bounce in place after adding some compression or effects? I notice that if I set the volume of the mic too loud I get a lot more ambient noise.
you can change the size of the waveform - it's in the top right hand corner of the arrange window
Like!🎧👍💥
🙌🙏
can you make a video about reducing room noise without acoustic treatment???
GODSON Official Music Noise gate? noise remover.
lol yeah of course that works i just wondered if he knew another way
GODSON Official Music I didn't know, I'm still exploring mixing. try downloading audacity, it's free. and look up tutorials of how to suppress room sound.
GODSON Official Music I like using the limiter on the compressor too. but like I said I'm just exploring
GODSON Official Music bro, I've experimented with enveloper and it works
u ever use double compression? had someone show me this method b4. instead of one heavy compressor. doubling up on a lighter compressor for vocals? any opinion on it?
occasionally, yes. it's more to add color from the different compressor. no rules in mixing :)
Sean Divine that makes more sense than that OTHER tutorial. he uses same compressor twice. but his claim is more control over comp eq? i guess?
Which mic was used here?
How Do You Stack The Vocals So That It’ll Sound Like One Take?
consistent delivery and then the way you layer / mix the takes will help them be cohesive
Great video. What is your ratio on this song?
I think for the actual release the vocal comp was ~ 5:1
Sean Divine thank you
How this track named? I like it :)
+Hip Hop Rap Trap Beats & Instrumentals www.youtube.com/watch?v=QriUO...
How do you open the audio card panel?
J. Sandoval you don't need to worry about audio card panels wtf you need a audio interface a studio microphone with xlr don't worry bout non else
I've watched a few of your videos & I've noticed you never really eq out a little around 250... 500.. ect. on the vocals. just wondering why
I do that pretty often actually, it just depends on the vocal / mic sound
+Sean Divine okay okay thanks!
how much do you charge for mixing and mastering services?
seandivine.com/mixing
What mic do you recommend for very good quality vocals?
what's your budget?
£250
Rode NT1 or Shure Sm7b
LIGER NATION m-audio white nova?
what microphone you use??
for the video or the song?
for the song
great tutorial man! what mic was used to record this song?
shure ksm32
what mic do you use?
for the tutorials or the song?
Which microphone use?
This one I used the ksm32!
Thank you Sean my record hit #2 on billboard because of what I learned from you. The video is on my page called "BOO R U EVER SATISFIED
Niiice Bobby! Congrats :)
Bobby Washington We all know that shit ain’t hit #2...
lmao
Bobby Washington 40K views on billboard?? C’mon man we’re not kids
Yo, What up with the stereo vocals tracks ......................KRiS says wick wick .......
dual mono
Another option is to do subtractive EQ on that synth riff because its too bright. Itd probably sound better downsampled.
give them burgers if you want to fatten up your lead locals
Clipping is never good...not in the tracking phase or mix or master phase
tracking phase... never good... in the mixing phase, I wouldn't recommend it but it's not necessarily bad either. As long as you know what to do pre-mastering :)
C'mon bruh you want us to believe that you did no processing on them vocals before you played it? Shxt was already mixtape ready lol wtf
no processing, that's the dry recording.
