    Banning him is a bit too much. He just cant have 8 copies of the same card (Gordon, Raise Max) when the other decks only have 4 copies of a card. At this point they should reprint Black Maria and make it be exclusive to Animal Pirates and either ban Gordon completely to limit it to 1.

    • @FudelioTCG

      I'd be willing to let them try errata/banning other cards first to see if it helps, but I just have a feeling he's crossed this line of being manageable and will utlimately get banned in order to save the future meta and player satisfaction of the game.

    Had a conversation with my friends the other day about this, and on paper he should be incredibly inconsistent. But since he can run 8 copies of gordon, 4x kid blocker and pudding (same role in improving don efficiency) with black maria on top of that, he has so many different cards he can draw that effectively serve the same purpose.

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah at this point it's like he has his own search engine in how many cards he draws.
      He is less consistent than Sakazuki, but he's more powerful overall IMO, so it evens out (or Law is even just slightly better)

  • @patriciocarrasco7641
    @patriciocarrasco7641 Před 2 měsíci +2

    I've always thought that Law was poorly designed, he does too much for too little since the start only losing don (for purple, not a big deal), but also, his ability doesn't make sense for his colors, only blue bottom deck stuff aside of him. Adding Black Maria is too much not becuase of what allows him to do (that takes all the risk and reward of the game that had left), but because Maria is a card extremely broken too. 3 cost is not enough for a big removal, but is high enough to avoid the small ones, 2k counter means that even if you don't play her you have a strong card in hand, and her ability doesn't even risk her by resting her. she does too much without any danger. She should had been leader locked, but even with that she at least should have to be rested to use her ability

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci +1

      yeah, i also always thought it was weird that only Law got this leader effect that was completely untraditional from his colors.
      And ur right, there are so many things they should have added onto or taken away from Maria to limit her efficiency, it's just crazy lol

      Black (Lucci, really...) is one of the only decks that have a shot against Law. But at the highest level right now, we're seeing that it's still not enough. If Lucci was a little more consistent or could search stage, I think it'd be closer to a 50-50 MU or slightly favored for Lucci in OP8, but then Lucci would also be busted, so...

    Thanks for the video!
    My take is either Ban Law and do the Saka thing and give us a less strong version. Either make it cost -4 Don or require a target should fix it.
    The other option is to ban Black Maria and Gordon (Pricier one) to limit his reduction effects and free activations. If they have to run Otama, their mirror match is much worse.
    My main though about Law is that it's like Saka or Nami. So good at what it does it means you can't print anything that the deck would play or it just goes in and makes the deck better. Law possibly being the worst for this since any Red or Purple cards of costs 4 or less have to be designed to not be better than anything currently in the deck. Also, makes power reduction effects harder to design. Ect. Ect.
    More than anything, if Bandai does do something I hope it's synched between east and west and we don't have 3 extra months with the stuff.

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci

      thanks for watching : )
      Yeah I agree, the problem with not banning the leader is that he's just a ticking time bomb and then they have to design less powerful cards treading around his leader ability, which can hurt the game as a whole. Red's already a color that has been dying for the past 2-3 sets and they could use some help lol. But Law would just take advantage of that most likely.
      And yeah I hope they sync the bans this time. I wanna see what that would look like.

    A few options to out law in check :
    1.choice restrict black maria and reiju with Leader law so they can't be played together in the same deck Thus nerfing the consistency and don ramping.
    2. Limit maria and Kidd blocker to 1 to hit don ramping consistency
    3. Choice restrict Gordon and max

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci

      those could work
      I think if they dont ban leader, Maria cannot be playable in Law, and they should ban Gordon so they only have access to 4 of the gordon/max combo and it's the cheaper card so ppl wont have to spend money on gordons

    Either ban law, or give him the sakazuki treatment, nerf him. His ability is too much, don manipulation, power manipulation and bottom decking, hes essentially 3 colors. What they can do is either force him to bottom deck in order to play a card (prevents him from spamming board). Or allow him to spam board without effecting the other player’s board.

    • @FudelioTCG

  • @kamikaze.33
    @kamikaze.33 Před 2 měsíci +3

    I've always been outspoken against jumping to ban cards. I was probably one of the loudest people against banning Sakazuki originally. But Law genuinely feels to me to be even more oppressive than Sakazuki ever was and I can't defend keeping him around.
    He HEAVILY restricts future card designs and wraps the entire game around him. People keep talking about banning Black Maria, Gordon/Raise Max, Pudding, etc... but instead of banning/restricting half a dozen other cards (cards that are NEEDED in most any other purple leader just to be viable, like Black Maria), if they all share a single common denominator that makes them feel broken (i.e. Law), then it makes FAR more sense to just ban the leader...
    Banning is such a slippery slope and I really, really don't want Bandai to ever get too ban-happy, but I personally will make an exception for banning Law. And honestly, it really saddens me too as Law is one of my favorite characters and I don't want to see this deck go as his other leader card struggles in the meta (although maybe it just needs to be revisited 🤔)...

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci

      I pretty heavily agree with this.
      The problem with banning a bunch of non-leader cards is it detracts from all the other players who would have used them and can hurt the community more than just banning a single leader.
      IMO, this is just a failure on Bandai's part for not having the incredibly small amount of foresight it took to notice Black Maria was broken lol.
      On top of the small buffs they slowly gave Law over the past few sets and Gordon/Raise Max situation.
      They need to do better about realizing such obvious things like this and then hopefully they won't have to ban another leader for a while.

  • @carlosortigosa8841
    @carlosortigosa8841 Před 2 měsíci +3

    In my opinion, it should get an errata. It must be mandatory to return an opposite character in order to activate his ability (I think this is the biggest problem). And the activation cost has to be 4 dons. In a gameplay where you get 2 dons every turn and Law being purple makes it relatively simple to recover from the don's loses.

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I actually kinda like the idea of him needing a target to use his effect, but that might make leaders like Yamato impossible for him haha (which I wouldn't mind...)
      4 don might be too much, but that could be another workaround

    • @kamikaze.33
      @kamikaze.33 Před 2 měsíci +1

      Other than the fact that they have shown historically they don't like doing full on Erratas for those kinds of changes, I agree the cost needs to go up and/or the threshold of power an opponent's character needs to be should go down. But if they're going to do anything at all, they only thing I can imagine is going the route of Sakazuki and banning this leader while simultaneously releasing a promo version of the new "errata'ed" leader with a much more balanced effect.

    • @carlosortigosa8841
      @carlosortigosa8841 Před 2 měsíci

      @@FudelioTCG I think having him returning a character is the best way fix this leader. A lot of games where you manage to control him are simply won by law because he can play a Kid and Killer or a rush Zoro for the final blow practically at no cost. If Bandai forces him to have a target to activate his ability automatically makes him less dominant.

  • @brockfg
    @brockfg Před 2 měsíci +1

    I think if the deck should be hit, one of the first hits should be Shachi and Penguin to 0.

      It would be a good card to hit bcus of that, but definitely that alone is not enough.

    Law needs to be banned flat out. It would be unfair to ban the characters that make him strong because other decks would essentially suffer for R/P Law's sins in a way. The truth is, Law just has easy to use and unfair mechanics. No deck should be able to remove while countering Black's trash mechanics, throw out rushers for free, run 8 of the same card for 1 don removal. run several amazing blockers (Shuraiya, Sanji, Kidd, Queen, and Killer), while having a lot of 2k counters, while also having access to Reiju and Queen to reset his hand, while also having Black Maria to patch up his 1 weakness. Let that sink in, in OP08 R/P Law can get up to 10 don which means he can swing a 6k leader, 2 kid and killers, throw 1 gordon/max to remove a blocker (or throw down 2 to lower another blocker instead of swinging 6k), and then -don to throw out another kid and killer for another 7k swing or throw out a sanji/shuraiya blocker and turtle. Then you proc Maria to get your don back. If you argue against banning this then you're the issue.

    • @joestar222
      @joestar222 Před 2 měsíci

      Law wasn’t this good until recently..and you’re mad because of removal of a board piece with at least 3k? Law wouldn’t normally be able to take down say a 6K blocker but now it’s broken because of cards like raise max and Gordon! It’s absurd you’re allowed four copies of each. Leaders shouldn’t suffer a ban because of support they get! If saka wasn’t banned in the East I bet they would be contending for best deck. Sorry folks it’s intended and designed to sell product decks will continue to evolve 🙄

    • @AnimeALX
      @AnimeALX Před 2 měsíci

      @@joestar222 That's exactly why a leader should get banned. It is the mixture of support and the ability that makes it ban worthy. Yes running 4 Gordon and Raise Max is dumb since they are the same card but it would be even more dumb to allow 8 copies of gordon/max in other decks and not in R/P Law specifically. The easiest thing to do is just ban the deck and just because a deck gets banned doesn't mean it can't be unbanned down the line, it just needs to be banned for now until the other colors catch up. If you're mad about it then complain to bandai about making better cards for Blue and Red because Green, Yellow, Black, and Purple are thriving in the OP08 metagame.

ST04 Purple Kaido can also counter you by just letting you set up your board and then wipping them out with 10c kaido if you don't have a sabo in hand. Too many variables makes Lucci either feel decent or too strong. yes there are times where Lucci has full control with his tempo but OP08 released a lot of strategies for going wide with Kalgara, Moria, and Drum Kingdom/Chopper spam, as well as R/P Law, not to mention the new 9 Big Mom that can disrupt your blockers. Lucci is fine honestly and still is up there but definitely can have really bad matchups with other top tier decks and Yamato can just use Hordy for a final push if you cant consistently stop her swings. i believe that you are right about bandai banning law leader eventualy, but also i feel kind cheated...i will explain why: law as leader is not broken..none said he was broken when he came out...everyone said sakazuki was broken because of his consistency....what makes law kinda broken is his support..cards like reiju, killer, black maria made the deck exremely powerful. ....they could ban some of those cards but at some point they would print sthing else very good for this deck and then here we go again...so instead of banning every red/purple good 4drop card, they just gonna ban the leader....the thing is that there are already cards that oppress the rp law, especially black decks..i have lost many matches against black just because they always have moria, a super broken card that none dares to admit it was wrong to ever printed...also we have yellow...enel is way too broken for a leader...triggers aside which are very annoying, yellow is able to take back tons of life and with enel that kind of abuse is extremely powerful...i dont see anyone badmouths him though...at the beggining of op08 i played sim and law was unbeatable...thats not the case anymore...the meta adapted and now i lose at least1 third of the matches...that never happened with sakazuki...until his ban, he was the king of the game...even now rp law doesnt have that consistency...so why people ask for his ban and why i feel cheated? because everyone suddenly want to play it since its ''broken'' but its a very expensive deck so the easiest thing to do is bitching about that...i paid a good amount of money in order to have this deck since op05 where it was just a fun deck, and now im gonna get punished because bandai didnt leader lock some cards...im really sad about the whole thing..shame

      I know ppl can adapt and learn to beat the BDIF in OPTCG, but we're seeing nothing but RP Law winning at the highest level all across Asia atm, so I'm going to defer to that over anecdotal evidence or even locals, etc.
      I know ppl love the leader and spent months of time and money building the deck, but it's Bandai's fault for putting ppl like you in this situation in the first place, so they should be held responsible for that and do better to notice when a card as busted as Black Maria is going to be too good for a deck that was already considered BDIF in OP7...

      I personally feel like the problem is less to do with the cost in Don!! (there will always be ways around that for purple), but rather the threshold for what he can bottom deck should be lower IMHO, like 2k, 1k, or hell I even think 0k would be acceptable and very achievable for this leader while making it far more balanced. 3k is just such a VERY easy power to get characters down to...

      yeah i think that was lack of foresight on Bandai's part, they could have made it harder for him at the start by lowering the power lvl requirement

    Anyone who thinks law should be banned has never seriously played a tcg. They'll just cry about the next deck that's good.
    If anything is an issue it's black maria, not law

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci

      Law was still BDIF in OP7 before Maria. I'm all for them trying to balance him in other ways first, but it's clear that any red or purple card that will buff him could immediately put him back in tier 0 territory.
      And it's not ppl crying about a leader, it's noticing that he's gained too much efficiency and wanting them to change something about it.
      Ofc it'll happen with the next leader that gets too strong, but that's the way it goes.

      @@FudelioTCG these results were not like this before maria. Was law good? Yea, bdif? No it lost to lucci same way it lost to Saka. Black maria is the problem card obviously

    I think the problem is Black Maria making leader eff basically free and even rewarding with more don after. The leader actually took 4 sets to get broken unlike Saka which was at the top from the very beginning

    • @anonzed2101
      @anonzed2101 Před 2 měsíci +1

      This is only because Bandai refused to print any good generic red support in 04, 05, and 06. The leader effect was ALWAYS the problem because removal on leader is too efficient and limits future card design

    • @JeffDarkspawn
      @JeffDarkspawn Před 2 měsíci +1

      You cant blame new powerfull cards making law broken. That way you can never design good cards because X leader abuse them. Meaning we come to a point bandai needs to keep RP law in mind every time you create purple or red cards.

    • @FudelioTCG
      @FudelioTCG  Před 2 měsíci +2

      i do kinda think that the real problem is Law himself and that getting rid of Maria would only postpone Law beoming broken again.
      Saka had all the tools he needed from the start, so it's not as much of a fair comparison, and we saw what happened when he got Tashigi, Moria, etc

      @@JeffDarkspawn i see that’s a better argument, but I think even being one of the strongest decks in op07 it wasn’t as problematic as in op08 even though it had most of the resources he needed (card draw, power reducing, don ramping and counter power). Even in EB01 I’ve been able to shambles for free but i needed specific cards simultaneously to do so, and BM does that by herself. I think even blue croc would be powerful if he could don-4 and then don+5.
      I see being a problem potentially limiting 4 costs from red and purple colors, but what else could it potentially use that he doesn’t already have acces to?

    At this point I'm also clueless about what's going to happen. But banning a leader is crazy. I think bandi made a card without thinking about how broken it could be for a leader though

    I dont understand why people worrying about law when yellow is just better in every way. They have cards and lottery themselves into a deck full of triggers and those triggers literally steal the game away even if you play properly. Deal with yellow first then we can reexamine law

      Enel had a good run at the start of OP7 but has been almost non-existent in these CSs and big tournaments for OP8 cus Lucci and Law are better.
      There's no way you can look at the data and tell me yellow is more broken than Law atm
