One of this games biggest flaws is the lack of leader locked cards, in my opinion. Every issue we’ve seen throughout almost every format is the over-generalization of this games card pool.
Yeah. We’re seeing more leader locked cards for the new starters so I think Bandai is realizing that too.
I do think some generically strong cards is good for deck building and versatility though
It's gonna be nice having at least 1 set with a diverse Meta in the west.

here is the question i don't think many ask. if X gets banned whats the next deck that everyone moves to and becomes the next deck to get banned. its card games and there will always be a best deck when you are competitive. i agree law is out of control but thats usually how "good stuff" decks works.

black maria honestly idk what this card does i have been out of the eastern meta for a month or so due to life but im sure im about to google it and my brain will glitch out.
no im not saying these changes will fix anything and i don't want errata's in the game because then things get messy but maybe these things should be going through a bit more playtesting before coming out. im older and been in card games for a long time so i stomach painful metas but i believe the game should start looking towards the future to kind of redirect things like this from happening for so long. some set of cards should have come out in 08 to kind of counter law not increase the highroll. I agree that a lot of the oversight and failures of this meta could have been avoided with some more thorough playtesting.
It’s not the worst meta in the world but I think most ppl are a little annoyed cus it seems like it was pretty avoidable.
@@FudelioTCG funny thing is i don't ever think its the worst meta. things get stale for sure and the best deck gets found and it gatekeeps a lot but i like what they are doing with the game. read black maria and that card is a scary look into the future of this game.
yeah for as bad as OPTCG seems, it could always be worse and is still fairly easy to play slightly off meta decks at locals and stuff.
But yes, they need to be careful about making more cards like Maria...
People be complaining about Law while I've been complaining about Enel. When Law gets banned, people will just split between Enel, BY Luffy, and Lucci and then one of those three will get banned. I think the real problem is not locking cards to typing. Imagine if EB01 Cavendish doesnt require a supernova leader, every green deck will run 4 cavendish and 4 restand Laws. Thats just how it works. If a card is generic with great effects, people will splash it in their decks. Why is the new Saka "bad"? Because it is typelocked to Navy. In future sets, they will start typelocking cards and then the leaders with those types will be "broken" leader that will get their cards banned. Ive seen this is all card games. Generic are busted, and top decks that are typelocked have broken typelocked cards.
Yeah, we’re seeing them leader/type lock with all the new recent cards so hopefully that helps.
I do also think the new Sakazuki is underwhelming, effect-wise, too
But we’ll see what happens. Hopefully Bandai is seeing where they screwed up. I do feel like a few generically strong cards are also necessary to give room for deck building though.
@@FudelioTCG I think they can create typelocked or leaderlocked cards that do the same thing except for other leader/types. This way you can control which leader uses the card. Example the new black maria couldve been typelocked to animal kingdom or bigmom. Then have another card that does black maria's effect but its for kid pirates only. What would have happened is, RP Law wont have that in his kit but it will make other players explore other purple decks. Either way it is going to be hard to balance because even in the show, the newer villains and character developments are waay overpowered compared to when the series started.

I don’t know…I’m excited to play Bonney in op07. I’ve had a hard fight against lucci pretty much exclusively and even blue doflamingo I currently run about 50/50 against r/p law with my Yamato deck. I make people quit on the sim quite a bit that are playing r/p law. I will say it IS a gnarly deck but like saka it isn’t unbeatable.
Yeah not unbeatable for sure. Honestly, in OP7 I think there were quite a few decks that could stand up to Law and the meta was much more diverse. It’s OP8 where things get a bit more one-sided :/
@@FudelioTCG that’s fair. I’m trying to play some of the op08 leaders but everyone keeps quitting so I can’t get a solid test on my builds. I haven’t played a r/p law with op08 cards yet.
A leader ban is basiclly just an errata anyways. If they do what happened to saka then law will be banned when they are ready to hand out the promo version thats weaker

Before anyone lacerates me, let me preface this by stating this is only my opinion.
In OP07 ideally there should have been a nice harmonic menage a trois where Law plays well against BY Luffy, Lucci plays well against Law, and BY Luffy plays well into Lucci. Instead what we got is a circle jerk where BY Luffy beats the shit out Lucci, Lucci can beat somewhat beat Law, and Law just beats the shit out of anybody. Of course the obvious choice for the meta cucks is to play Law. Can it be easily fixed without a ban? Just release another EB set to even the scales. Is it that fucking hard?
Honestly, that triangle you're talking about did exist in OP7.
Yes, Law was a little bit above the rest, but Lucci BYL and Law all played into each others' strengths and weaknesses and left gaps for other leaders like Bonney and Enel to shine as well.
OP8 gave Law too much power and now it's messed up the somewhat balanced meta we had in OP7
The way the meta is atm if you ban law it dosnt seem like the game will get more diverse.. it will be 16 black or yellow instead
just ban Black maria is that simple, don't need for law ban
Yeah that is one of the tricky parts of the whole situation right now.
Trying to somehow nerf and balance law could help with that, but they have to at least do something.
i mean there always gonna be a deck that just kicks butt lol like play with r/p law or dont because your right its not fair for those who grind and learn the deck and then just because everyone can complain emergency ban? like nah just play the meta out how it is its sucks but imean thats just not fair to people playing the meta who want to compete then people complain and boom ban lol like this problem is in every card game lol play the best to be the best sucks but thats life
Yeah. I don't think ppl are complaining that there's a BDIF right now, I think they're more upset that it's become such a big gap between most decks and Law.
Having a competetive game is good, but if the general player base can't enjoy the game, it starts to tank sales, which in turn hurts prizing, which hurts the competetive level as well.
But competition and healthy competition are two seperate things in my mind. I don't want One Piece to turn into some sweaty game where ppl are just playing the same 2 decks to win a regional and no one else is enjoying it. Bandai could do better to find a balance, IMO.
I think banning cards from leaders is a potential reality we could face. Not a bad solution. Black Maria is turbo'd though. Just ban that card.

The only people defending rp law are rp law players... everyone else knows that $#!+$ broken
I understand if ppl like the leader and have fun playing it, but it's getting to the point where it's becoming a problem for sure.
Stop crying and get better
