Imagine your are 10 Years old, from your first day of your life your grandfather works on the case to make you a Dortmund Supporter. One day, it was a Thursday he shows up and ask you if you want to go the „Westfalenstadion“ to see Dortmund vs. at the Weekend. At this saturday I woke up very early because I was so nervous, I’m waiting till my Grandfather arrived to take me with him. At this day It was a very cold and cloudy. As we arrive near the Stadium my grandfather bought me a Dortmund Scarf, we a sausage at one of the BBQs around that area. Then he said „we have to go inside now, the match is starting soon“. After we go through the security etc we walk some stairs upwards (later that day I told my mother it must have been 10000 stairs, today I think it might be 50)as we reach the tribune and I can’t believe how many people are inside and how huge that building is, also the Volume of the crowd was unbelievable for me.I can’t even explain how it feels to me to be there for the first time with my grandfather. He has infected me with the BVB-Virus, at that day, since this Saturday in autum i dont miss one single „Bundesliga-Heimspiel“ (Bundesliga-Home Match) for the first 5 years a season ticket was my birthday and Christmas present from my parents and grandparents, after that I get a mini job where I earn just enough money to pay my seasonticket. I always go together with my grandfather till he dies, nowadays I take my son with me. We stand in the same Stadium Sector as I stand with my grandfather. I hope COVID leaves us soon and i can go to the Matches with my son.

I visited the stadium first time when i was 18 i think. Against Stuttgart. First time is really unbelievable and impressive.
When we arrived i walked against a lamp post beacause i was looking at this Temple.

Pyro isn't allowed anymore in German stadiums. Fans still do it, but the club has to pay a fine for it

and it was banned decades ago in England ( apart from lower leagues get away with it ). You get a straight few seasons ban if you let of a pyro in upper levels. Same in Scotland. Also, any flags have to be checked by the club first, it ALL has to be approved, local council have to know etc - maybe an overreaction to Bradford, Hillsborough and Heysel but maybe for a good reason.

That "ultra" stuff does get annoying after a while because often, that core is more interested in doing that stuff, than actually watching and reacting to what is happening on the pitch, which is like a divorce from reality - I think you will find many footballers will agree with that, the crowd actually reacting to the players in real time is good, it means they are really present and you feel the crowds reactions of a player makes a good touch and so on. The same monotonous stuff through the whole game, can be a bit much, whilst it sounds great and can do - just a normal crowd getting loud after a good passage of play, does also.
