    Here's an idea, 3D print your own drag strip. Announcer booth, grand stands, concession stand, bathrooms, the whole diorama. It's within your power... maybe even make Jimmy an entire trailer park... just throwing it out there.

    This looks great!
    For me, I would add/change 3 things:
    1. a red pinstripe between the gold and the black
    2. the top of the bed looks a bit unreal now in gloss back it's just too shiny, perhaps flat black would look better
    3. add some decals

  • @alansaxton86
    @alansaxton86 Před 5 lety +3

    That turned out brilliant I'm definitely impressed by the 3D printer. You are correct about the cab overhang being to long by law the overhang cannot extend past the windscreen. It still looks magic tho. 👍

    • @alansaxton86
      @alansaxton86 Před 5 lety +1

      @@carmineredd1198 no lol. I will explain I've built trailers to get them registered by law there are requirements. The cab cannot extend pass the windscreen therefore for you to make your trailer look authentic it would be better if it was shorter. Of course you can make however you choose. It was just a thought that's all - no offence intended. 👍

    You should build an entire car from 3D printing. Like a Plymouth Valiant from Duel or something, since I've never seen one of those in 1/64

    Love the new 3D printer ! I’ve never been a big fan of the filament printers, it’s just melting plastic line on top of itself - not the cleanest process to me. Most of the resin printers I’ve looked at in the past have been outrageously expensive, but I think I could actually swing the one you’re using. I’ve had ideas for prototyping product components over the years, but haven’t had a way to make them without spending hours or days in my garage fabricating something. With this I could print scaled down models in no time. Excellent product ! Keep the custom builds coming 😊

    For the ramps, you could try slots on the rear of the body, and make them slide out with stops to keep them from coming all the way out. Great work with the printer! Can't wait to see what comes from your brain, when you get more time with it!

  • @therealdeadpen
    @therealdeadpen Před 5 lety

    You could pop off some printed toolboxes (little reds and diamond plate bed boxes), Maybe some pallets to haul, firewood, or just truck bed junk. There is always this one guy that just has stuff in his bed, there are beer cans, gas cans, and other trash. Cinder blocks to put your "project" car on in the yard for the next 25 years.
    You will also be able to do body kits, reprint the bottom of the car but with chin spoilers and side skirts. Spoilers, convertible tops, interiors/seats. Getting a clear as glass print is crazy hard and requires a really good printer.
    At one point you could just make the entire car.

    Shorter cab over, storage doors to cab over, Smokies logo on front of the cab over and try heating up a needle to make the holes for the ramps then glue to L shapes to the lower deck that are in the ramps. (Small Paper clips) hope this helps

    Have you ever done this before? How about do one of these? All great ideas, but can we please talk about how 3D printing elevates modeling to the freaking next level. Can you imagine explaining to a modeller in the 70/80/90's that one day soon you'll have the ability to scratch build kits of your own design at home in a matter of hours. Unbelievable! If anyone knows of someone making these in metal I'd love to hear about it. And as always, bud you are awesome! Michael from Toronto.

    All kinds of potential. I can see 3D printing some cool 4 tip side pipes, engines with blowers, custom hood scoops, wings, smoke stacks for a lil' red wagon dodge pickup but the real goal would be wheels. We need more wheel options.

  • @Rollormotor
    @Rollormotor Před 5 lety

    that turned out sweet, very creative, I like that you can make something out of nothing with 3D printing, I would suggest moving the rear axles forward a little so the load is over the axles, this would be more realistic to actual car haulers, you might have troubles trying to turn rig like this around

  • @Stangrocka302
    @Stangrocka302 Před 5 lety

    idea for adding ramps now, use brass tubing that you would use for axles for the hinges, the rod to connect ramps to truck bed could be hot wheels axle or sewing pins. glue the brass tubing to the bed and ramps and boom. no drilling.

    You know I've got a little ultrasonic cleaner. The cars that I have tore apart I put in there and I put some denture cleaner powder in it because it won't hurt the plastic it actually does a pretty good job. I mean I put all the plastic parts in it and the wheels too strong, it actually won't hurt the car at all so you could actually throw the whole thing in there if you wanted just cleaning.

    For the ramps, instead of hinging them, why not print up ones that would just sort of sit on the ground at trailer height, then work out like a storage cubby on the trailer itself, then just color match. For the scale they might be sturdier that way too with the 3d print.

    Awesome as always !! And by the way I and I'm sure many others of us out there really appreciate your willingness to help us with out chargeing us. It shows that you have a passion for the hobby beyond just trying to make a buck all the time. Pay it forward is a great thing , and without question if there was a time in the future and you needed to we would be right there for you. Again thanks for being there for us that aren't always able to get the money together. Love your videos and talents. Yes as soon as I get can get the funds I will be buying one of your very cool shirts. Thanks again.

      No problem at all brother, the reason im willing to give those away is because I never see myself using the same model twice really. always improving my own stuff.
