As others have said, this is a move coming from the EU, forcing standardisation of cables. A good move, like you said. Apple actually fought this tooth and nail because 'it limits progress' which is obviously horse manure. It just mrans that if a new standard that's actually better comes along, like say usb-c was over micro-usb, brands need to share these standards with each other and convince each other, or work together to create them in the first place. Which is exactly what happened when apple co-developed usb-c.
Apple are just salty that this makes it harder to sell premium addons.
Yeah then why haven't we adopted the metric system yet. ???
I do not recall when I last charged my Airpods case with a cable. MagSafe is so convenient in the nightstand.
It's just part of the strange Apple world that they used their own cable for so long. There are still enough special cables for watches and flashlights and so on. Every cable that you can do without is progress. So a good thing.
So if I have airpods pro 2 already before the usb-c there really isn’t much of a point for me to switch to the usb-c charging case 🤔
I can't believe I am finally lightening cable free, I have been waiting for Apple all usb-c devices for so long. I bought the 15 Pro max and Airpod Pro 2 usb-c. No more lighting segregation.
I’ve done the same but then my company phone is still a lightning cable 🙄
Let me save you all 6 minutes - the only change is a USB-C port versus lightning.
Thanks
This isn’t accurate and it’s kind of fucked up to lie and ruin the video.
All he said was cable nice, tested for dust resistance, and can be used with unreleased headset so basically useless info
This isn’t accurate
Wrong, the most useful feature is conversation awareness.
Love it man, stoked to pick these up and toss all my lighting cables in a burn pit🔥
Ha! Seriously though, I wonder what the environmental impact will be from all these lightning cables and accessories being tossed!
Can you test the airpods pro in this new case will they charge and work.
We want do replace any rubbish lighting port.
So essentially, a switch to USB-C and nothing else of any significance !
Better waterproofing too, but is it worth the $250? Probably not
The apple website makes it seem like you get way more listening, and talk time with the new ones? Anyone know?
TLDR: USB C is the biggest difference.
Plus USB C version has Dust resistance & if you use it with vision pro headset it can play audio at very high bit rate.
Good video but if you own an apple watch and use the charger it doesn’t change the amount of cables so its the same
thanks for the IP explanation it helped my choice
Hi,
Does the latest Airpod Pro (2n Generation?) still support the functions of hearing aid (mild to medium loss)? Any improvements in the hearing aid functions over the previous versions? Thanks.
I'm not entirely sure but I think it's the same as the last generation.
I'm still using gen 1 air pods pro. They are dying every once in a while..I use them all the time. I'll have to save some money for the new AP pro 2
I would change my recently bought pro 2's with the new pro 2's just for getting the 24bit sound, if it would play that bit-rate together with my iphone..
I'm really curious to how they are able to do that.
@@tomwebb10 apparently it seems that they're only able to that together with the upcomming vision pro's because of the H2 chip, which would enable 20-bit (and not 24), 48 kHz lossless audio
@@Pablosan73.75k for lossless isn’t worth it lmao
@@ultramasterultra5724 jep, totally agree x’D
If they can do it with Vision Pro why not also Apple Music? Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro have had it since 2022 as well as other brands! @@Pablosan7
So I have a question. I have the last gen AirPod pros with the lightning case, will those work with the usb c case? I’m trying to have to only carry one charger and one charging cable. I don’t need to upgrade the actual AirPods they do exactly what I need them to do and I’m happy with them. I just need the case to simplify everything. Will the last gen AirPods Pro work with the new usb c case?
I wondered the same. If I pop my lightning airpods into my USB-C case they don't seem to charge or sync with the case. I wonder if there's some sort of pairing process that I'm missing?
The USBC port on the air pod pros 2 is smaller then the iPhone. My c cord for my phone would not go into the cport on it.
Huh? It shouldn't be. They're the same exact port.
Is it possible to use only one earbud in the ear while the other one is charging and change between them?
Yup
"...while I'm listening to a podcast sleeping." Pretty interesting podcast, eh? :)
I'm not good with silence!
I do like the new cable.
Hey, thanks for teaching me ip rating. Now I know 😄
This airpods 2 is excellent… I get my one, my first airpod and I love it… I did the unboxing, if u want to check, you're welcome
I noticed that the 2023 version is cheaper than the 2022? I’d really like to treat myself to some new airpods pro gen 2, but I don’t know which version i should buy? Do they differ in terms of sound? If so, i’d like to know which one has better noice cancellation and overall is worth the cost
I’m trying to find this out too. There must be a reason they are cheaper right? Did you find anything?
@@maltyduck no unfortunately not, im still unsure on which i should buy during the holidays. I think i might just ask the employees at the Apple boutique.
So the main purpose of headphones/ear pods is probably for sound and clarity but it seems like there’s obviously no change at all apart from a new cable and a device practically nobody would buy or own or use .Great 😂😂😂
can you replace the airpods pro 2 2022 (lighting) case with the airpods pro 2 2023 (type c) case?
I tried that and it seems there's some kind of pairing required. The earbuds make a strange beeping sound and they won't charge in the wrong case.
@@ChaseTheSummit thank you for this 🙏🏿
I am so thinking of Upgrading to the USB C AirPods Pro 2
Better noise cancellation sounds good for me
"Apple has finally admitted" ... ahem Apple was one of the companies who DEVELOPED USB-C. They know it's good.
When they introduced Lightning they said it would last for about 10 years - now the EU wants Apple to switch so there you go. Having said that, Beats (owned by Apple) has had some groovy USB C earbuds on the market for a few years now so this is old news.
So the greatest "innovation" is USBC which has been around for over 10 years now. Good job Apple!
I just got it due to type c charger
Guys, (not you Dave) please stop mentioning the lossless support feature with the Vision Pro. The Vision Pro is not available and lossless has been around for ages with 2yo earbud models
3:00 I think he starts to get to the title/point of the video.
best part is forgotten. apple is using a new CODEC inside, lossless with the futur vision pro.
I do mention that in this video. It would be nice if that codec was also supported by other devices like iPhone / Mac.
So basically they’re the same..
the tattoo says in Greek: I miss you
There’s tons of new audio feature too
Those are avialble on the older models as well!
Is there adapter lightning usbc?
I'm sure they're available but there isn't one in the box.
I’ll be buying these as previous two Sony 3/4 battery kept going bad in one ear so thought I’d try AirPods for the first time
It’s 48kHz, not 48,000kHz
Worth an upgrade from Gen 1?
That depends. How much do you value carrying one cable for everything?
So does the iPhone 15 pro support lossless audio with these new buds?
No
So basically i have to wait for iPhone 16 to use the lossless option 🤦 because iPhone 15 doesn't have the h2 chip to support it
No.... it's the new vision pro that's getting lossless... not the iPhone. At least not yet.
How did they perform for you in terms of remaining connected to your smart TV if the TV is anything but an Apple? Why does no reviewer ever mention this? If you change channel, pause, FFW, rewind, or anything that momentarily interrupts the sound output of the TV, when you resume, no sound from the Pro 2s. Didn't happen with previous Air Pod versions, doesn't happen with my Sonys. Google it. Happens with Samsung, LG and other smart TVs. Known problem since release and all firmware updates. This problem is never mentioned in YT reviews?
Probably because most people don't use Airpods with their smart TV.
@@derpyllama1857 derp, I can say with certainty no one is using Airpods Pro 2 with their smart TV's, because if the TV isn't an Apple, they don't work. But it isn't for lack of trying as a google search easily reveals. Lots of complaints about this.
I have pre ordered them and I am hoping for significant bass improvement, if they have same bass as the previous ones, then shame on Apple.
They're the exact same earbuds.
@@ChaseTheSummit oh man. Thanks for the reply
@@thetruth5672 Is it too much or is it not enough bass for you?
@@steambuddyv7034 too less when compared to Bose and Sony
Is the same bass just retune them when you rec I’d it
i get new one
The Lightening version has a H1 chip and the USB-C version has the H2 chip.
Bullshit
not true lmao
No. The ones I just got from Costco which is a lightning port has a H2 chip.
Naaah, I’d rather take a cheaper lightning version lol
I really love your videos!
Say USB type C one more time 😂
USB-C
your tattoo says i miss you in Greek
Correct
u Should do more research when posting the video. There is a new EU-directive that charging should be done with the standard which is USB-type C. That's why and only why apple has switched and haled with the transition with their most popular product, the iPhone. It's not a goodwill thing. If they could they would online use lightning when possible. The reason iPads and computer switched first is because usb-c can transfer data at a much bigger rate
Nice tattoo. Nice greek phrase.
This could be 2 min video 😅
Want to be my editor?
They didn’t admit, they were kinda forced by EU which want to limit electronic waste etc. 😂
they werent forced to do it this year, they could have delayed it till the iphones 17. Learn the basis s before typing nonsense
@@الحد thank you for lovely reply. They could wait but why wait until Dec'24 when the law will come into force, when it was already much expected also from clients. So it's not like they discovered this great solution... There was no point in delaying.
@@malgon007 what im saying is that apple wasn't forced in the sense of making the USB c coming to the phones, it was just the matter of when they would do it. Apple already had leaks of USB c even before the EU law
@@الحد they were forced .. you need to admit it
@@الحدthey literally were forced. they would have never done it if they could have
Are you Greek?
μου λείπεις 😅
Apple didn’t tell the thru
It’s the law in the EU EUROPE
The EU had to force Apple to use the UCB-C!
Shitty airpods after the warranty was gone it’s barely working. For that price one wants em to last more than just 1 year
So……absolutely no difference, none that matter at least
