This is such a GREAT piece of music that every version of it is SOOOO EXCELLENT. From orchestra, tuba, sax, guitar, bass to Emerson's twisted keyboard treatments, Mancini truly wrote something universally hypnotic, exciting, funky, threatening, around just a one chord song with an 8 note riff.

I loved these three boys so much and always will. Only three men, who could create a gigantic hurricane of great music. So powerful! In this they have remained unmatched. And what do we have today, compared to then? Lots of junk! At least we older people from the 70s era can make comparisons. I would say the technologies have improved but the heart and soul of the music has lost a lot.

I want a time machine to go back to the time when music was AWESOME !!! Recorded on August 26, 1977 at the Olympic Stadium, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, album released in 1979. Similar to most live albums, In Concert featured fan favorites of previously released material. However, "Peter Gunn", ELP's take on the classic TV themed song, was never published on any of their other albums (a slightly edited version of this live recording was included in the compilation The Best of Emerson, Lake & Palmer of 1980 and published in certain countries). ELP often opened with this song during the Works Volume 2 tour. The group hired an orchestra of 70 musicians for some concerts on this tour, but ultimately had to fire the orchestra due to budget constraints that almost bankrupted the group.

Musical Greetings from Kassel, Germany.
Supremely excellent!!!!
Saw them at Wembley in 74 and loved them before and loved them ever since! sadly Carl Palmer only remains!
After , my friends older brother turned me onto ELP , I was hooked ! The three of us , got to see them at the Spectrum in PHILLY ! Now that was a Show !
I remember listening to this song as a 3-6 year old. I had my own little cassette deck with loads of various cassettes my parents "borrowed"me xD. Anyways, i stopped listening to it, but 8 years later i found it again as a piece for bigband, and today, 10-13 years after heaving my cassette deck i listened to this cover again. Just some reeaally great work!
I saw them live in Nacogdoches Texas in 1978. Best show I had ever seen.
