Just because those having it don't have the platform or notoriety of YE to make the masses pay attention doesn't mean the conversation wasn't happening. There were many of us having this conversation even recently, around Dave Chappelle and the similar flawed idea he was trying to project around why certain LGBTQ issues get more attention than Black issues. Our parents and forefathers were noticing and talking about these ideas before the social media age, where getting traction on these topics was even more difficult. So don't minimize or think things aren't being discussed because people don't have the platform that a celebrity does!
