his point about slavery was about how they were mentally enslaved which is why they didn't revolt. the same way people are mentally enslaved now and don't revolt they just keep working shitty jobs and going to school for years and years only to get out and can't find work. his brain works too fast and his mouth can't keep up with what he's trying to say, which is why his sentences don't make sense to the average person. a very common problem for really smart people. when you think of a genius you don't think of a businessman who speaks really well and can persuade anybody to do anything. you think of a socially awkward guy who rambles his sentences and trips over his own shoes. that's what kanye is. i love how ppl love to discredit "celebrities" saying they're just "celebrities" but honestly it takes a certain level of genius or creativity to become a big "celebrity". celebrities can be chosen people in fact i think they're the main ones who are chosen people that's why God gave them the life where they would be in the public eye and can be a huge influence. just like anyone who goes through a spiritual awakening he's gonna be all the way right about some things and all the way wrong about some things. anyone who has experienced a spiritual awakening knows that you go through a point where you thought you had it all figured out but it was just the middle or the beginning. i'd say kanye is in the beginning. and if you've never even had a spiritual awakening or even know what the hell that is, then you honestly have no right to judge this man.

Kanye West is now starting to become dangerous because he's giving these super racist people that black dude who agrees with them. He can have his opinion and we can not agree with it, but saying SLAVERY WAS A CHOICE is just factually incorrect, that's not opinion. (In my opinion) If you watch the interview it talks about economic empowerment, freedom of speech, thought, etc. He rarely spoke about trump he doesn't even know the policy that trump stands on. He is starting a conversation because a great quote that Kanye made me think of was "Free education is abundant, all over the internet. It's the desire to learn thats scarce"
That is a huge statement because most of the community isn't evben watching the interview just judging somneone for their thoughts. This man has 300 acres of land if thats not motivation for young black men i dont know what is.

How is Kanye "broken"? He is a black man in America, has made over a billion dollars, overcome drug addiction (hopefully), and it still able to make music, speak his mind, pursue his companies. I'd say the opposite of broken. The function of the critic is often to drag artists under the bus when they become too powerful or start speaking out.

Imagine if Kanye were to say the stuff that women and females go through such as deadbeat boyfriends or husbands, rape, the psychological and emotional and physical stuff they go through in the workplace or went through before finally having the courage to speak up about it, physical and sexual assault are choices, and domestic violence and abuse are choices. NOBODY would anybody support or try to rationalize his "free speech" then. Plus his career would be over. Just saying.

you sound like you think you're smart for saying slavery was not a choice? his point is fairly obvious (especially when he aligned himself with candice owens, that who had that victim-victor spiel) he feels black people have it in their heads too much today, which if public discourse and social media is anything to go by, he has a point. you have to read him so shallowly to truly beleive his intention is to blame slaves for slavery and that it's. at least as an exercise allow your mind to consider that he's trying to push the conversation forward and empower his brothers and sisters the same way everyone else in the 21st century is empowered.

Stating that slavery is a choice, when considering the present day state of many Black folks, especially those in the inner-city and poverty stricken environments, one could say he has a valid point.

If they didn't choose to be enslaved, as you say, then how are you then suggesting that because the institution of slavery lasted for so long that it was in fact a choice? This pretty much makes your statement invalid. And if you're gonna say that you're referring to mental slavery, well, how would you know whether or not a free or enslaved individual is mentally free or not. You can be in bondage or in an undesirable state and still be woke.
Furthermore, whether or not someone "chooses" to get free or stay enslaved gets trumped (no pun intended) by survival. Posturing as if those who "chose" to stay enslaved were unwise or less courageous is foolish. Whether it was a conscious decision or not to stay enslaved until the right opportunity came along, how many of the millions of folks that survived enslavement do we owe our existence to? You or someone you know may very well be a descendent of someone who "chose" to stay enslaved, but lived to see not just another day, but also see their families grow as well.
