    lore: "The empire wouldn't dare to send their legions and be cut off from their own supply lines"
    game: rhagaea rushes directly into the desert, proceeds to lose her original territory to Garios, Monchug then bomb rushes most of the eastern half the continent and she ends up running a cityless empire while sadly pacing between Lycaron and Vostrum.

      In my game Rhagea has taken half of the aserai in the first 3 weeks of the game. The vlandians bypassed the battanians and took the the eastern portion of the northen empire in just a few weeks while at the same time overwhelming the eastern empire. The battanians are fighting the sturgians and the sturgians are fighting everybody except monchug's boys. And monchug apparently got lazy and his hordes are just sitting pretty at his borders. Hahaha.
      The Vlandians are so OP in my game, they are steam rolling everyone.

      @Pan_Z Před 2 lety +7

      It seems accurate to real life because it is. The situation here is pretty clearly based off the Roman Empire and its neighbours in the High Medieval Era. The Empire is the Roman Empire. Battania are the Rus. Vlandia are the Normans. The Sultanate are the Islamic Caliphates. The Khanate are the Avars, Mongols, and various other Eurasian nomads. Battania is bit of an exception as they're probably based off Britannia.

      I believe this notion was no doubt inspired by the Polish-Lithuanian elective monarchy. Historically, the polish king (elected by the sejm) had no military power because the nobles always checked it, but he would speak for the kingdom diplomatically. Perhaps the sturgian king is weak militarily in Bannerlord? That would be interesting.

    • @wojciechkowalski8061
      @wojciechkowalski8061 Před 4 lety +77

      @@Ethan-zt7ky Alternatively it was inspired by early Slavic tribal organization (so called martial democracy), where warriors of the tribe elected a leader from amongst themselves (but only for the times od war). However, as the authority of said leader grew with consecutive wars, he would often use it to establish a de facto monarchy, though many decisions unrelated to war would still be made by a popular assembly of the members of the tribe.
      In this context it would propably mean that one prince had managed to gather enough fame and respect to vassalize most/all of the Sturgian tribes, but he is considered to be only their supreme commander (while he tries to make this post hereditary).

      It means monarchy in the imperial sense. You see a strict difference in monarchy between Roman/Latin Europe and other Europe (namely Germanic), who elected clan heads, tribe heads, and a head for confederations (of tribes) which you might call a king. Note that England is a mixed form, influenced by French Normans who installed parts of their system onto a Germanic (Anglosaxon) base. That's why it historically has a conflict between parliamentary power and royal power.

      Basically, if we go by the world of the early 11th century, the empire is inspired by Byzantium, the Khuzait by Pechenegs/ Kipchaks/ Bulgars, the Aserai obviously stand for Iberian Berbers as well as Seljuq- Turks and Arabs, like the Fatimids, the Sturgians are basically Rus/Varangians, the Battanians may be Irish, Welsh and Highlanders (maybe even Bretons), but they look and have a culture like classical celts of the roman era like Gauls, Britons or Alpine Celts. Finally, Vlandia seems to be 'everything else' of europe, french, german, north italian, polish, english and so on, but if i'd need to specify them more, the closest to them in real life could be the french normans (the guys that conquered england and put all this french into the english language).

Julius Ceaser was a great man of the Romans, so powerful and so wise he could use the Senate to influence the minds of the people to create land reforms and armies. He had such a knowledge of how to manipulate people he could even keep the legions he created from dying. Charisma is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful the only thing he was afraid of losing was his power, which eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he told the Senate about all of his future ambitions and they killed him during a meeting. Ironic, he could save his legions from death, but not himself.

Read Act 3 and tell me it doesn’t sound like people you’ve probably met. Brutus was the most noble of all Romans, and his enemies even say this at the end of the play. Caesar turned an historic Greco-Roman republic into a fascist empire, which eventually consumed itself through endless war and strife. Death always to tyrants.

      1) a rich patrician Senate can be for the rich instead of the people. Maybe the late Emperor was forced to support them.
      2) There must be a reason the Emperor did not name his child as heir, and his wife might be an Agrippina type; a puppet master.
      3) A general would appeal to the plebian peoples, and he'd be a hero in the eyes of many, but it could turn into a dictatorship, and there were times when the Legions appointed Emperors and they didn't always turn out great.
      I think i might support the West however.

Maybe the eastern one could be a mix of chinese/japanese or even some Fillipine influences? Korean also had it's own distinct culture though and the manchu. It'd be quite interesting to see indeed. As or the troop types. A lot of heavy cavalry with a few horse archers; perhaps some medium infantry with long pikes and hell why not some early firepower? Perhaps Song/Tokugawa era inspired? There's a lot of ways they could go with there.

      @@wu1ming9shi Yeah most Bannerlord factions seem to be combinations of cultures or really abstract versions of a big culture. Maybe India could also work as it is culturally quite distinct. Maybe combining the Mughal Empire into it as well. The Chinese/Japanese one could also add in those Korean hats for lower tier units. Plenty of stuff to make an unique faction I feel. There could even be a faction in the south taking inspiration from Mali and that western-Africa region.

      But yeah I agree. as an adition to the eastern faction it'd be awesome to see some actual "Iron Pagoda" cavalry units as well. They'd look absolutely awesome! (Here's a link to what I mean by that: www.pinterest.com/pin/430023464406916007/ ) Though it may not be very era appropriate. I mean bannerlord is set between 800-1000 ad I think. Iron Pagodas first appeared during the Jin dynasty which happened actually during the 13th century. So yeah they missed a big opportunity in warband.

      Plus if you look at the map's "choke points" which is to say a region that connects through one point, the nords have the easiest land to "split" as they have the most single connectors by far.
