- If you were to make James May his dream sandwich, what would you include in your recipe? Lucy and Rachael made an attempt - fish fingers vs grilled cheese. Which one would come out on top?
- Zábava
Lucy is slowly turning into James with each passing video 🤣
Someone in the comments section of a previous video suggested that if Clarkson, May, and Hammond ever retire from The Grand Tour, Lucy should be considered as one of the presenters if it were to reboot
But Lucy isn't growing a beard
@@xaraxen Who knows what the future may hold?
just like Kaleb turning into Clarkson. Hammy's still Hammy tho.
@@coryman125 Who knows, what the future May hold?
James May is, simply said, one of humanity’s greatest treasures.
that was absolutely adorable. You can tell how much james cares for his employees, and how much they care for him.
Have never seen Lucy so glowingly happy on camera before. That is the face of TRIUMPH!
Overall a really enjoyable episode :)
We need an _"it's the greatest invention ever"_ compilation

... of 1978.
So did Lucy give the 10 pound back for the win? :P
Gratest
Lurpak spreadable butter, invented in 1903.
The chemistry is really developing and they found a combination that works! Lucy snide and sarcastic, Rachel demure and dainty, James the old sensei.
diverse as well. cheese eaters and non cheese eaters
Rachel is not dainty !!!!
@@procatprocat9647 not exactly, but she’s certainly the softest of the 3
@Jay how much did Rachael pay you?
@@howdareyou41 .. blessed are the cheese makers ( or eaters )
James: That's not really cooking, is it?
Lucy: I'm cooking the fish fingers.
Rachel: *leans in* From scratch?
*TOP TEN FOODTRIBE BETRAYAL*
Shut up Jams
and a bit earlier:
James: "...it not being a large kitchen"
Rachel: "or indeed a kitchen"
The combination of both those remarks really got me.
Can someone share a timestamp for this one?
@@markgonsalves really? you didn't make it to 0:46 by yourself?
These two girls completely absorb the weird James May ways to live, all the talk, the moves. It's lovely
I'm the same age as James (minus a few months), and I know what he means about Lucy's sandwich. I ate a lot of fish finger and chip sarnies in the 70's (but not both together) and it takes me back to watching Saturday night TV in the mid 70's. It's nice to see Lucy smile, even though she was trying hard to resist :-)
that breadsabit soggy tho itinit ?
What's funny I'd make fish sticks sandwiches with a slice of processed cheese and then toasted like a grilled cheese so both of these sandwiches together.
Pink Floyd
@@jayhom5385 those are fish fingers, not "fish sticks"
Ive never added fried potatoes to a sandwich, thinking about it...thinking.... Nope not doing it!
James would be the sort of man to make a cheese chutney
C H E E S E
Um that would be me so let's hope he tries so I can replicate it.
Maybe a gin chutney, a nice little tie-in with one of his other ventures?
CHEESE chutney.

Rachel: *puts effort into her sandwich*
Lucy: *slops some frozen fish fingers from a microwave oven on someone else's fries and slathers it in ketchup*
Well we all knew who was gonna in. "It's the smell, texture, and ambition of 1978," so of course, she won.
It's like when James bested Gordon Ramsay in fish pie.
James May Man Lab, season 1, ep 1 provides the answer
It's because James was hung over
It was a toaster oven, you Philistine.
Sometimes simplicity is better
That was so much fun! James' reaction to Lucy's sandwich was an absolute classic. You can tell that sandwich touched his soul. Now I want one.
Lucy smiling???? Has to be the best video
She's understandably chuffed, James is NEVER so effusive in praising their efforts.
I love that James works so well with these young women, and has fun with them in what seems to be a really genuine way, without a hint of creepiness. A lot of men his age just can't clear that lowest of bars and I'm glad one of my childhood faves does it.
Can you blame him
Yes exactly this
James is warm and avuncular while still delivering soft barbs... it's pitch perfect
@@michaeleaster1815 I think he gets away with his little jabs so well because he pokes fun at literally everything, including himself
I'm sorry what? James a childhood hero? Why do I feel you drive a brown car?
why is Lucy's awkwardness so relatable?
and yes, as something of a chip expert (I just eat loads, it counts lol) those chips do look nice
Thoroughly enjoy watching these 3 friends working together. They’re brutally honest, but respect each other. Well done!
I'll give it to Lucy - she knows her audience 😂
I'd give it to her too.😜
I'd have to go one better and give it to them both. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lucy brown vs Rachel hogg
referee james may 😅😂😂😅
I would also give it to her
Yeah, you can't go wrong with chip and fish finger butty.
We are all so proud of Lucy today
Honestly this chemistry is absolutely fantastic. Love how well James has adapted to this format. All three of them are integral to these videos.
"Lurpak started in 1901, as a combination of several Danish dairy farmers to create a common brand for butter to increase sales."
Just amazing to be back in the bunker, please do more of these
What did Rachael do with the cheese nubbins? As I have learned from James it is polite to offer the bits left in the Mouli grater to those nearby.
You have to leave them out for the brownies that do the yardwork for you, or they'll get mad and pinch the baby
There's something with Lucy and James that just works.
Well, he raising her on how to use the oven and then giving out pocket money, man's adopting the staff!
There is a great chemistry between James and Lucy. However, when it is James, Lucy and Rachel together, it’s just awsum. I dunno what it is, but it’s a great and entertaining watch.
Basically the next best thing to James, Jeremy and Hammond or James and Yujiro.
Well Rachel and Lucy are fit and cute when interacting with James.
Lucy has a pretty smile!
That kitchen sink sandwich is singlehandedly the most British food I've ever seen
But here in Australia chip sangoes and fish finger sangoes have been a stable diet for centuries.
"From the Box?" Is the best reply I ever seen haha I was laughing so hard
That’s the happiest I have seen Lucy on FoodTribe! Well done!
Lucy has learned a lot, she is way better now; Rachel on the other hand is as cute as always.
Is Lucy's puffer jacket still hanging on the Ferrari's mirror?
I thought that was Rachel's?
We're more alike than one might expect because those grilled cheese and fish and *fries* sandwiches scream rural America and they just felt so delightfully familiar. And then Lucy going and saying she usually first microwaves the fish just completely sealed it. That was so rural American that I'm surprised Richard Hammond didn't pop in, lol.
It really is!
I have literally never heard of anyone ever making fish stick sandwiches letalone putting fries on bread. Y’all are whacked with that.
But yes, the most basic sandwich ever, the grilled cheese, is popular here too.
@@junghunt8645 Do you live a very sheltered life? Because fish stick sandwiches are definitely a thing. Fries/chips on bread is more of a British thing, but I grew up eating fish sticks (or fingers, as some call them) sandwiches and still eat them occasionally now. And I'm from a state that's smack dap in the middle of the US.
I don't know, cheese is lovely, I eat it often with my grandad along with a few nice beers; however, my grandad despises melted cheese and I love it. As soon as we saw the fish finger sanga... we knew it was the winner. My grandad chuckled at the "if it doesn't stick to the roof of your mouth" comment from James, I couldn't believe how relatable it was. How can one Bloke be so eccentric to the point he smokes a pipe and refines the flavour of his own gin yet is still able to relate to those who work hard, play hard, and eat hard?
I think james is relatable because he wasn't born rich. He grew up eating trash like the rest of us, he earned his wealth and refined status but still has a love for the lower cheap lifestyle.
@@moniquesantrifcer1447 James May is like that rags to riches guy who hasn't really realised that he's become wealthy. And he's all the better for it. Out of the big three, he's the one I'd rather spend a day with.
I love Lucy her chemistry with everyone else is amazing
i can't figure her out which is interesting
@@sherifmourad79 Bought up in France, middle class former media student.
She seems kinda depressed lol
You must be terrible at judging atmosphere. As already pointed out by other comments, it’s quite frosty between Rachel / Lucy. Very obvious they don’t like each other.
@@Jamal_Tyrone thx, that gives some perspective ...it might be the french upbringing that's throwing me off
I like that Lucy said the fish fingers are great for a hangover, then later said she makes them all the time. ;)
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Guessing she is hung over a lot... 😁
That was enjoyable Lucy letting her guard down and smiling was great
I could pretty much watch May do anything and feel entertained.
This thumbnail is hilarious, two young ladies looking in admiration as an old guy eats the perfect sandwich
This video really shows how cool James is.
I just love seeing the three of these folks together!
"Or indeed a kitchen." Ha ha. "Feels personally attacked." Priceless. I really love the teams you've put together for FoodTribe and DriveTribe. And the collateral channels. Such nice stuff..
I love seeing James, Rachel, Lucy, and the rest prepare these amazing concoctions. I love this channel so much. Thanks to all involved.
hahahha Lucy went for the easy win !! That definitely looks like it would cure a hangover.
I couldn't help but smile with this video!!!
First of all, I love both sandwiches, and as uni is about to start, I will soon be making them myself.
Also, I love the dynamic between all of you. Lucy so obviously pleased with herself, Racheal dissing James' favorite kitchen gadget, and Ben chucking in the corner !!!!
Lovely bunker video. This is my favorite series!
The moment I heard Branston Pickle I figured Rachel had an advantage. And then I saw that fish and chips sandwich and fell in love.
"Lurpak Spreadable Butter created in 1901 of course" is the quote Lucy was looking for 😂😂
1903 and you call yourself a man of culture
@@Condor-uc2lw Technically it was made in 1901. There was an episode of FoodTribe where they did this fact check

I believe they found that it was first marketed somewhere in 1903.

James influencing Lucy to smile more 😂 😂 what a lucky girl. She can work with James May!
I can watch James May count stars all night all day long and not get bored.
What an enjoyable 12 minutes...well done, Lucy, Rachel..................and James
I've never seen Lucy this expressive
I enjoyed the show because you all seemed to enjoy yourselves, keep being genuine to who you are and the quality of the content will always be gold.
That little smile of Lucy's was everything. She genuinely cares for James approval!
I enjoyed this immensely due to its unique form of chaos.
As a kid going to a catholic school a long time ago, during lent we would get fishfingers on a bun instead of hotdogs at the tuck shop. They were the absolute best and have been a big fan ever since.
Fish fingers, toasted bun, sweet and sour sauce on top of the fish fingers, preferably La Choys. You are welcome.
The fun in this trio is growing with every video. Thanks to you all
James displaying utterly saint like levels of patience in thhe face of muling self-indulgence!
james and lucy sharing their ocd
If my 38 years on earth has taught me anything, the chippy is always shut
Ours definitely is as the couple that ran have retired and one of their brothers (I think) is taking over. Two weeks down, two more to go.
@@Elwaves2925 there no greater taste than British fish and chips
I think it's because a lot of chip shops still have 1970/80s style opening hours. We've become used to 10am-2am, 7 days a week kebab shop hours but the humble old chippy is still 4pm-9pm Mon-Sat, with maybe an hour or two for lunch.
Mr. May laugh is something to enjoy.
The laughter helped turn my evening around, much thanks. Yes, I will have to try both of those sandwiches. Due to the fact of living in Wisconsin USA. Wish me luck, besides the cheese anyways lol
It’s like watching two daughters who just want James to love them

I'd like to be around for that

I mean she's a 20something year old english girl, of course she does
You should check her freezer and if it's filled to the brim with fish stick boxes you know the answer.
This was so much fun. Loved it. Great dynamic between you three
"The chippy's shut" *everyone recoils in horror* that may be the most British moment I've witnessed.
James May laughing makes my day every time!
James May is like a wizard who's travelled through time just to entertain the new era. But really he's been spreading his wisdom across the land since the 1600s.
Hail King May
He'd make a smashing Timelord, that's for sure. Just imagine him in the role as the next Doctor.
They genuinely make me so so happy
Thank you for existing, Mr. May.
If you had told me James May would one day make an entertaining cooking show I'd have asked if we're talking about the same James May.
Definitely going to try the Lucy special
"Itchier cheddar" is my new favorite phrase.
Great seeing Lucy getting more on camera and getting more comfortable! It's awesome!
Two of my favourite 'at a moment's notice' foods in one competition. I am fairly sure I lived on cheese toasties for several weeks in 1978, was out of work and money.
The crispier you can get the fish fingers the better, in my opinion.
I like how Lucy has developed rappers-arm when summing up. As seen from 11:30 onwards...
Great video! Immensely enjoyable. As a child of the early 1980s, Lucy's sandwich brings me feelings of nostalgia. I think James has the year spot on at 1978, because the fish finger sandwich felt like it had it's moment in the sun a little before my time. Fish fingers are on the shopping list now. Great job everyone!
I'm going to try both of those soon, they look great. Love the team, you're all great
Great episode… the whole gang sharing and enjoying a meal. Keep making more please. Try Burgers, Hotdogs, and Ramen Noodles episodes. 👍
Ramen noodles episode
A fish finger sandwich requires the obligatory patting of the top of the bread though (it's a crucial finishing touch). :-)
More of these types of videos please. I want James to judge more food battles. It was nice to see the three of them making jokes and competing,
I do quite enjoy these sandwich topic videos. Reminds me of my childhood in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
3:07 I love watching and hearing James laugh, he's got a genuinely contagious laughter that never fails to cracks me up.
The man in Japan episode w the statue best personifies his laughter
I love his laugh as well - I always go back and rewatch those bits!
I'll give the fishfinger sandwich a try.
A very fun video! Great to see all 3 of you together! USA
Loved this! Keep it simple!
These three can make the mundane quite interesting
Glad to see you back in the bug out bunker kitchen doing non-sponsored videos
I just could watch James do anything. I hope they know just how well these 3 work together, it's not the food it's them together
i like the chemistry between james and lucy; she's like the daughter he's never had
"the smell, texture & aspiration of 1978" 😆
now I know what the year after my birth smelled like...at least in the countryside of England
Rachel pulls out the Mayo
Everybody in 1903: confused screaming
In 1978 my closest Chip Shop was a village, not in a village the village was called Chip Shop, not very near a larger village called Chillerton, neither of which had a chip shop! It was an 8 mile drive to an actual chip shop that closed by 7 pm. Needless to say we didn't go to chip shops very often.
That said, my Dad grew our potatoes, my Mum cooked chips using a mix of pork and beef lard, and once in a while threw in a lump of dripping for added flavour. I don't remember ever eating fish fingers as a child, but we had the best chip butties on the planet.
Now I live in a country that serves whole fish (mostly fresh water not salt water) grilled, doesn't sell fish fingers at all, makes bread that is a little too sweet, and thinks french fries from McD/KFC are chips. But I've lost 5 stones since moving here so... 😄
I guess i'll be adding both of these to my to-do list!
First the S+V crisps with chippy chips which was great and now these!
You can really see how amazing James is in front of the camera. I love his solo programmes on subjects like toys and dictators cars etc.
Man, as an Aussie I've never done a fish and chip sandwich or even a chip sandwich or anything like that... That looks freaking delicious. I'm a big fan of cheese toasties though, so I think I'd like either.
Really?
I'm watching this at 23.00
Bollocks, I'm salivating and I'm not supposed to eat anything this late.
Especially sandwiches like these, which I would consume by the dozen...
James May, the sandwich critic we never knew we needed 😂 absolutely love the videos 😊👍🏻
I want to see James eat a penutbutter and cheddar cheese sandwich XD
F perv...
Lucy went even further up ijn my estimation when she said "Rachel and I" and not the ghastly "myself and Rachel". Someone who speaks English properly - fantastic. And so much confidence in front of the camera.
Pretty funny episode, and seeing James praise it like that is making me want to try Lucy's idea. Also, this was worth the watch just to see Lucy smile for once alone.
That was excellent. Many thanks you all.
