Baldur's Gate 3 | If you KILL Zariel's Paladins before meeting karlach, the dialogue will change...

Karlach: You knew they weren't really paladins?
The Dark Urge: Uh, sure, let's go with that
Durge: “Wait! They were lying?!”
@@pitbullnamedcupcake8485 "How is that possible? I thought Paladin's legally couldn't lie."
Dark Urge: "Damn... Now I can't turn in her head... Or..."
"THEY WEREN'T??? Er, any good, uhm, that's for sure. They weren't any good, that's for sure. Yes. That's absolutely what I meant to say."
Karlach: “Wow! So, you knew they were fakes the whole time?”
Astarion: (Chuckles maliciously and licks blood off his dagger)
Awwwww I thought I was killing real paladins
Astarion: "I've got to kill a bunch of drooling fanatics and now the conversation steered to shorthairs, this adventuring thing is better than I anticipated."
@@TheMeanMongoose I just read that in his voice, 100% spot on
Astarion: They were Fakes?!
@@lockskelington314Sisko: "It's REAL!"
Confronting the paladins with a real Paladin of Tyr has special dialouge where you can call them on their bullshit and demand they tell you some Tyr religious thing every paladin should know.
😂😂 real "tell me all the songs from the band if you're not a poser " vibes
@@xNephilimxXx that’s if you play as a bard 😂
@@xNephilimxXx "Uhh, 'Smite the Wicked' "?
"It's 'Wickedly Smitten', get it together!"
The Good Ol Rite of the Left Hand. I swear Tav is just making shit up and that is a classic Tyr-Worshipper Joke.
There's also another version, I think with a cleric, where Tyr himself tells you they're lying.
Yeah, but then you miss Karlach's adorable rage laps.
It's adorable now, but absolutely heart breaking near the end of your storyline...
Lol my first game she did that and Gale only had 1HP and didn’t get out of the way in time 😂🤦♀️
(2nd game I used a fireproof potion on everyone beforehand)
And the Friendly Fire.
Haha yeah, though I hadn't healed Shadowheart after the Paladin fight and she got killed by Karlach's rampage lol. Thankfully we already had Withers so didn't need to use up a precious revivify scroll.
@@elenalizabeth 1d4 fire damage killed the wizard
Karlach is just a Spicy flavored Cinnamon roll.... A giant flaming teddy bear
I always pick up her Clive bears at camp and put them in her inventory, and have a whole stack of them in her inventory with all the other stuffed animals by the end of the game. There is a new Clive at every campsite 🥰
@@IlaMedlin Yeah, I pick up every stuffed teddy bear (that doesn't explode, lol) and put into her inventory
Well, some one at larion needs to make her canonically collect stuffed animals and she names each and every one. (Autocorrect slapped me with Marion instead of larion)
"Please tell me i found you before those so called paladins of tyr did!"
"We killed them and ate their livers"
"fuck's sake..."
''haha got you, didnt i?''
Karlach: "So you knew they were fake!"
Tav: *looks at the camera like Jim Halpert*
I got one wildly different from this. She got hyper happy, effectively going "WHOO-HOO! That's Fucking amazing!" and I don't know why it was different.
It might be depending on the character alignment
Same
Sometimes i get wildly different dialogue from characters even if i do the exact same thing. One time i forgot to save after talking to Astarion about his vampirism and died so i had to go through it again. First time i got pretty normal dialogue. Second time, Lae'zel said some pretty sus stuff, something about "offering her flesh" though i can't quite remember.
@@pubblicazioniacaso9357 But, there's no alignment system I thought-
Yes sounds very good stranger (its my 12 playthrough and I always choose to be nice to you darling)
I love how innocent Karlach is, just assumes that DUrge knew they were fake paladins and exacted justice.
Oh Karlach, never change.
Karlach: Wow how did you know they were fake?
*Flashback*
Cyrel: Would you like to trade?
Me: [Accidentally click] Actually this is a robbery!
Cyrel: Have at thee then!
Tav: "...I have Tourette's."
"Wanna help me kill them?"
Options:
1. You mean like.. again?
2. Way ahead of you...
3. Done. Next?
4. You're not by any chance mad that I already took the honors?
Its fun how you almost can see the face of virtual the DM through Karlach, freak out a second then improvise something on the run cuz she actually didnt expect you were pure caos.
Karlach: "Oh, so... Thanks for skipin my quest. Its not like i was setting up a cool fight with nice character development after... Anyway we are friends now i guess, lets go get cure or something"
I love how Karlach doesn't see the potential issue with you killing a group of people who were very well disguised as innocents
To be fair they weren't disguised very well
(Arrive at a building slathered with blood...) Well hello we are uh Traveling Paladins... Yes that's it and... Don't mind the mess
If you're a legit paladin of tyr bro starts faking an injury in an instant dispite clearly being fine, or you can use speak to the dead to talk to the toll keepers the killed. Plenty of ways to expose them with out meeting our darling barbarian
Karlach is my favorite companion by far. She just radiates abrupt chaos energy but in a fun way.
She's both sweet, kinky, strong and lovable
Also, she's the only camp character that is loved by everyone else.
"Wow, you're very insightful. You knew they were servents of Zariel the whole time"
"Sure, lets go with that..." *Said the Drow Paladin of Talos flipping a coin to see who lives or dies... and totally didn't just hide the coin flip when interacting with Karlach*
Karlach: How'd you know they were fake
Tav: How'dawha now?
There's a corpse in that cabin and if you use that dialogue magic to talk to the corpse, you'd know they signed contract with devils. Then you can confront the paladin but that will trigger battle. Since he's a little bit too tough for a level 3 squad so I climb to second floor and snipe him from there.
I feel for the people who just went straight for killing her the first play through.
Probably not a lot but you know theres that one guy missing out that hotness
On my first play through I believed the paladins at Tyr but got suspicious when I was able to walk up to Karlach and initiate dialogue without her attacking. It also helps that she looks similar to the peaceful tiefling refugees living a few miles away.
Yeah on subsequent playthroughs, I always kill them first because it's just a lot easier to be able to set up your squad around the Paladin guy and then jump him immediately. He hits like a truck when you're only level 3 so getting the jump on them makes the combat waaay easier. If you bring Karlach, they're basically already alerted and you don't get a free round to set up.
Oh yeah, having Anders the A**hole one-shot my Tav AND Shadowheart IN THE SAME ROUND I can definitely agree that he hits like a truck. That was embarassing
I was able to kill one without alerting the others, then my bard, and astarion snuck in through the second floor, and waited while karlach walked in the front with shadowheart. Astarion, and my character did massive damage from sneak attacks.
Dude still one shot both of them on his turn, but that wound up being his ONLY turn.
I love how she just trusts you after you tell her you murdered them for no apparent reason lol
You're a go-getter. I like that.
Karlach is always helpful 🔥
i expected her dialogue to be like "Cool you killed them already! how'd you figure out that they were evil? ......you knew they were evil, right?"
I ended up doing this in my first playthrough without even intended to. Found the outpost, smelled a rat, made the whole place blow up. Gave me Gale's scripted death scene too. That place was BUILT to asplode.
Me and my friend accidentally started the battle when we were too busy talking to realise what we clicked.
Thank you speak with the dead
Its best that way , 2 barrels and then loot the place at your legure
Karlach: So you knew they were lying about being paladins! That's amazing!
1. (Deception) I certainly knew they were faking it and did not murder them without reason, yes.
2. _Wonder what her infernal heart looks like and how it would feel in your hands_
3. There's a difference?
4. I'm sorry I took the joy of killing them from you. I will try to make it up later.
5. (Speak with Dead) I can make them talk again. Maybe you can take out your frustrations at them like that. You can even kick them a bit, if you want to.
6. I figured they were Paladins of Shar or something. Real shifty vibes.
I thought you were supposed to kill them; I just thought it was a tricky fight. Turns out I was a man down.
I did this last playthrough. I was hoping she would ask what tipped my party off that they were servants of Zariel. In truth, I had Astarion listen to his own dark urge and bite Cyrel as she came out onto the balcony.
I love that "Take Faerun by the short hairs", is basically just "Let's take this place by the balls"
That's the old saying, when we weren't as crude I guess to outright say balls lol
Another variation is "take them by their short and curlies."
Cool, but I wanna meet my cinnamon bun beforehand
karlach is my love
'There's a lot of them and just one of me' is something a barbarian would never say
I think she was just using it as an excuse to team up with some folks, she was quite lonely after all!
@@FrostyFyreespecially considering she's a war veteran and they're just a bunch of regular human thugs
By this logic, most barbarians never live long enough to level up. Barbarian doesn't automatically mean "extremely dumb" ;-)
@techpriestessmicaela8441 yeah, Anders’ smite on tactician difficulty will one shot almost anyone 😂
I killed karlach on my durge play through I will never forgive myself. Tbf it is the most evil act ever so totally in line with durge but still 😢
Impress Karlach by killing the paladins first
Or have her go with you so you can see her burn the place down after they're dead.
Always a tough decision on multiple play throughs. I always like to impress the girl am trying to romance. But watching Karlach rage is funny.
one bit of story i still question. if he infernal engine causes her to burn so hot no living organism can touch her, how does the parasite live? is her skull shielded from heat or something?
magic. Ethel specifically states the tadpoles been corrupted with Netherese magic. The very same magic keeping the tadpole from turning you into a Mindflayer.
@@slugman7070 well the netherese magic is whats keeping them from doing what they are supposed to and shield them from extraction, only allowed to morph its host at the signal of the elder brain when told to by those holding the stones of the netherese crown.
now it wouldnt be farfetched to claim its got built in elemental protection but from what was specified it is likely not the case.
Yeah did this before finding her. My Drow Necromancer doesn't like Paladins. So wasn't. Problem for me lol.
Karlach looks so great here. I loved her face. What I don't get is after some point, she suddenly develops the facial rings and I can't stand them. I wish there was a way to get rid of them. I prefer her purer looks as shown here.
Did you by chance take the subclass Wildheart for Barbarian? They get piercings depending on what animal you choose but you can cycle them regardless of chosen beast which also includes not having any piercings at all. They give you a chance to change it on every level up I think.
@@ethicc_ Okay, that may have been it. I'll double-check. Thanks!
I did not meet Karlach at all on my playthrough, is it worth to meet her?
Karlach is great! ... and heartbreaking. Yes, totally worth it.
Karlach is one of the best friends you could ever ask for. She gets attached to you and all the companions and is ride or die. She just wants everyone around her to be happy and will do whatever it takes to make that happen. In terms of pure game mechanics, I built her as a Berserker Barbarian and her damage output is insane. The amount of attacks she can do with normal attacks, frenzied strikes, and enraged throws lets her mow down entire groups of weak enemies, or burst down 1 beefy target to a sliver of health. You can also spec her into Wildheart Barbarian for more utility but I mainly use her as raw damage and damn does she deliver.
why cross progression doesn't work from pc to ps5?
I think it was mentioned in the patch notes is because of the modded saves people have been doing
Might only work with save files that don't have mods in them. Cause obviously that save file you synced from PC to PS5 is gonna be looking for mod files/configs which are not possible in PS5
It works as long as you don’t have mods running, because PS5 doesn’t have mods so it doesn’t know what to do with that different mod data.

My second run thru I did kill them first. On the first run thru I killed Karlach before she got into melee range, no dialogue, just magic missiles and arrows.
I didn't like Karlach at first due to her hugeness, oddly-colored skin, and the fact she's on fire, but this really is a case of falling in love with a personality.
I kill Karlach everytime
Why tho
