In this tutorial Bobby G and I are going to show you step by step how to record and mix rap vocals in FL Studio from start to finish. We start start off by explaining the main types of microphones and which one you might need to consider buying. After this I will talk about the audio interface which is equally important as your microphone. This is the main component of your audio setup. Then I will convince you why buying quality cables is very important for recording vocals. The next step is room treatment. I will briefly cover this topic and talk about why you maybe should consider buying a refection filter. After this Bobby G will show you step by step how to record and mix rap vocals in FL Studio from start to finish. Make sure to download the FREE Vocal Chain and FREE Vocal recording Template! A big thanks to Bobby G for joining me for this video.

31:30 the sidechain option is only a freq trigger reacting to the whole freq spectrum, its still reacting to the lower frequencys
Thanks for the input/knowledge! I appreciate it 🙏
Thank you for this🙏🏿
I see this bit word everywhere but I don't understand what it's for are you able to explain? I saw on FL it had a 32 and 64 bit so obviously I chose 64 but I'd like to know why it's better or worse
How can you reverb but still be clear because I tried it in my one song and it wasn't as successful as I expected. I could show you what I mean if you want.
It’s the CPU bitrate, in 2023 all software is 64 bit. So just use the 64 bit version
Watch a lot of reverb tutotials and try to unterstand every aspect of it! You will figure it out
dope🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
thanks 😍
😊
oh i realised now that you used a beat that also a Polish artist used on his song its called otsochodzi - pojebane stany
The sweater look nice 🔥
haha thanks!
Great 👍 video
Thank you 🙏
Wow so crazy this song
That’s Bobby G!
I appreciate it king 👑
Please keep in mind when he is talking about your vocal being at minus 12 to minus 6 decibels is is talking about PRE-fader. You can youtube this if you aren't sure what I mean. Basically, your meter will show you what you input level (sound source that is going into your program) is at, or it will show you what the sound source level is at when it leaves your computer (really, your mixer's master out out, and the individual fader tracks themselves)
thank you
We got you 🙏🙏 thanks for watching
thanks a lot
Thank you for tuning in 🙏
i think when it comes to ribbon microphones you should just try before you buy. Some people sound really good with that warm sound it gives but I personally like the way i sound on condenser microphones. i haven’t found a dynamic microphone yet that i like my voice on.
Does that depend on the ratio of tremble to bass your voice has?
good vid
✌🏻
❤
thx
🙏🙏🙏
Sharing all this sauce for free! Thats gotta be good karma
Hahaha I hope so😂
@@SeventhBeatsTV well actually having you do 5 steps to get the download doesnt make it free thumbs down for lying
Nice cam fr
This vid was helpful. Have one question tho. Why not use bussing and sends for your delay and reverb? Almost everyone seems to recommend not putting reverb and delay on the same channel as all your other effects??
Do what sounds good to you! Like I said in the video, I just prefer the drowned out sound of the reverb on the vocal, without side-chaining it through busses and sends. At the end of the day mixing is about what you want it to sound like
Hey Booby G and Seventh, i have a Question : While Mastering the Vocals, we dont have to connecting the Master channel with the Vocal Channel Right ??
Nope! In this case just connect your vocal channel to the master channel
What way the exactly vocal chain for the Shure SM7B? Did you use a Fetheat or cloudfilter?
No Cloud-lifter or any other vocal chain used in the video, just the SM7b going straight into a Focusrite interface.
For the original vocal recording of the song I used a Røde NTK going into a WA-12 500 Pre-Amp and then into a simple Focusrite interface.
Can You plz Making lessons about mixing and mastering
Sure!
bro can i ask something,? if the room is not treated, what is the good volume of the mic in the Audio interface? like what oclock is it good to set?
As long as your input volume is around -12db in your DAW you’re good
While you recoding with the auto tune , does the effect print on the vocals?
Nope, because the vocals are recorded on another vocal insert in the mixer. It’s just for reference.
dude i’m stuck where he’s on the mixing channel. i keep trying to record and it’s recording over the master and the insert 1 (REC) track… please help.
If you don't manually select your input channels, FL will record over the master. So you have to manually select an input channel before you start recording.
hello, it doesn't show me the input signal of the FX channel even after connecting to the REC channel, and it's probably because I have monitoring turned on directly in the sound card, right?
What’s up Skopi! You have to connect them the other way around; so the REC channel goes to the FX channel. And the FX channel goes straight to the Master channel.
Do you have any input signal on your REC channel?
what drivers is that Multi output device?
Is it for absolute beginners?
The first sentence describes me no cap😥😥
We've all been there brother
This is educational thanks
Love bro ❤ you’re welcome
can't be Download Vocial chain plz help out Bro.
can someone help i downloaded everythimg and updated FL but if i open the Recording Template FL Studio + Vocal Chain it says i need the plugins how do i get them ?
The free plug-ins are linked in the description! Some of the plug-ins require a purchase however, you can easily replace them with a similar free plugin and apply the same theory
💯💯
Hi dude! What mic did you use in this video?
Hi! I'm using the SM7B by Shure
Keep in mind the song was originally recorded on a Rode NTK, ran through a Warm Audio Pre. But the video audio was recorded with the SM7B going straight into a Focusrite interface.
How to do the peek reduction at 31:18 without the fruity limiter,
im not in FL i use ableton
@@AliSoomroMusic You can use any Limiter plugin!
Great f*cking video 👏
Love bro ❤
what template do you start out with?
Check link in description
So if I’m recording in fl using a vocal preset can I still mix?
Yes, absolutely
@@BobbyG077 how would I go about that? Bc I make music and it sounds good in the car, Bluetooth speakers, and AirPods etc but when I play it on my iPhone speakers it sound distorted and muddy
@@yaroplan3t You can tweak every plugin individually, just as you would without using the preset
What kind of mic do you have
In this video I use a Shure SM7b. In the original recording of the song I used a Rode NTK
my vocal kinda clear but when i apply some effect there are some bip noise, it very small but very noisy, how do i fix it
You have to find out what’s causing the noise, my guesses would be:
- Interference from your phone being too close to the mic. Try setting it to airplane mode.
- Noise from your computer running too close to the mic.
- Cable noise, try switching out your microphone cable and see if that fixes anything.
- Noise from your pre-amp, mic or interface. Make sure your vocal is coming in at around -12db to -6db in your DAW. Try playing around with the gain on your interface or pre-amp to make sure that the noise your hearing is not coming from any hardware in your vocal chain. Hardware will always have some noise in it, but if you’re recording at -12db to -6db you shouldn’t be able to hear it.
Let me know if any of that helps and if you found out what caused it 🙏
@@BobbyG077 thanks a lot man, really appreciate it, you so kind dudeee !!
How long should the beat be while recording?
Long enough to record to, if you wrote 100 lines to record then the beat should be long enough to accommodate that. If you plan to freestyle the whole way through you could just loop the beat however long you’d like it to be
legenda em pt br. PLZ
Why are al those plugine that expensiveeeeeeee
You can do the same things with other plugins! These are just my preference

Yes sir! ❤

What’s the perfect LUFS for all streaming platforms
There is none really, since all the streaming services have their own recommendations.
AstroWorld by Travis Scott is around -4 LUFS. A lot of Drake’s music is around -8 to -12 LUFS. But Spotify recommends -14 LUFS 🤷♂️
I wouldn’t worry too much about it
@@BobbyG077 Thanks a lot. Do you know why my music sounds bad when I use it to make a video on TikTok?
@@BobbyG077 Astroworld -4?? But if I switch from YOSEMITE to any other industry song they all sound the same in volume but different LUFS. How?
@@tyyleerr that’s cause the streaming services & radio all compress them. So on Spotify every song you hear is -14 LUFS.
@@tyyleerr There’s no way for me to tell why it sounds bad on Tik Tok really. I suggest googling their ‘best practices’ on uploading music
Easier way to find BMP. Click the tempo and click tap. Then just tap with the beat and it will find the tempo.
Yes! Also a good method
You number ane😊
Force à toi 💪🏾 avec ton petit accent français 🤣
Much love! PS: L'accent est hollandais ;)
@@BobbyG077 autant pour moi 😁
why does my soundcard sound far away like the sound uís stuck inside the speakers
Have you tried it with different speakers and cables? That might help to find out what’s causing the problem
And how to lower the autotune. I find it to much can I have less?
Yes, ofcourse! Your Retune Speed determines how fast the correction takes place, lowering it works similar to a ‘wet/dry’ knob for the AutoTune effect.
If you want the AutoTune effect to sound less ‘robotic’ you can use the ‘Humanize’ knob.
There’s a lot more to the Plugin than this, but this will give you a basic starting point
❤️

(HELPPPPPPP) How can i record doubles without hearing my voice in the mic but still be able to hear the voice in the recording
Make sure the vocal you want to hear is linked to a different channel than your ‘REC FX’ channel. You can then mute the ‘REC FX’ channel so you don’t hear your voice while recording. But because the vocal you want to hear is linked to a different channel you’ll still hear it.
Does 100$ mic different from higher
truthfully, any mic ranging from $70 - $100 will work. i personally use a blue yeti and it is good enough. you need to consider the different types of mics (condenser & usb). with a condenser mic, you’ll need to get an audio interface since it uses an XLR cable rather than a usb that plugs directly into your PC. the advantage of using a condenser mic with an interface is low latency.
really a brickwall low cut? I think it's too much. I never do that and I have great recordings
Good call. On our follow up video (out now) we explained using a brickwall could possibly cause resonance, making it roll off a little bit can prevent this 🙏
doubles?? that you recordes isnt that just adlibs?
