So Im a middle aged man that was forced into the security field after the covid 19 pandemic of 2020 abruptly shut down my personal business. Forced to deal with the reality of losing my business, I made a pivot back into security work for the first time in five years. Understanding that I’m behind the curve in terms of firearms and combat experience, my goal is to seek out knowledge that will make me a better guard while also helping to prepare myself and family for today’s uncertain times.
My hope is to rise above the everyday typical stereotype of a “security guard” by putting the same efforts I have into being an entrepreneur into being a professional. As I learn, I’ll also share with others in an effort to help them become “atypical” as well. I have a seeking heart, but all of this information could very well one day save my life. I’d love to colab on a podcast or something, and would love any of the guards reading this to check out what I’m working on. All respect to everyone here, especially the amazing sister in the video.

Don’t use a level one holster for the gun. You’re gun can be easily taken away during a fight if you’re using that. Get yourself a Safariland 6360 level III duty holster.

Your magazine should always face the same way for muscle memory reloads. In a stressful environment having magazines that are all facing different ways each day is going to make reloading difficult. Just a helpful tip

Hello Gary from Grindelwald Tasmania. Security guard and Glock 17 FDE (Flat Dark Earth) licenced gun owner, experienced firearms owner. May I please reiterate that your demonstration of loading a Glock 17 had several discrepancies. Firstly, you shouldn't release the slide with the slide stop. It eventually damages the spring. You should pull it back with your free hand. Secondly, there is nothing wrong with tapping the fully loaded magazine. It ensures that the magazine is correctly seated. Please trust me, I have been a security guard for 25 years and a gun owner for 20 years. I know what I'm talking about. Good luck and thank for your demonstration. Please stay safe and protect yourself.

In a pressure situation keeping your magazines stored in the same orientation (with your rounds pointing downward) can save you from fumbling around potebtially trying to load it backwards... which could save your life.
Also... if you're just loading 3 magazines, charging and holstering, your weapon, you only have 29+1, not 30+1.

You want to slap or force your mag in when reloading or loading your weapon for the day, I've seen many times where a mag will drop out when its not locked and seated properly when you go to draw the weapon or if you have to fire a round. It will fall out, there is nothing wrong with putting force or hitting it with the palm of your had to make sure that mag is locked in the weapon correctly.

    • @handled99
      @handled99 Před 4 lety +3

You dont need to "slap it". Just push it in the mag well, hear the click, then slightly tug on the mag to make sure it is properly seated.

It’s a slide stop not a release. Also slam the mag in to ensure it’s seated. If you don’t there is a possibility that the mag catch is not locked when you draw your weapon and the mag falls out in a self defense situation. Highly recommend a level 3 retention holster with a hood for a extra level of security. The slide lock can be used for a release if your week hand is injured. Also train at the range with weapon manipulation. Would also suggest a WML (weapon mounted light).

Are there daytime jobs where I could still come back home to my son after school? And if you only had 10 rounds in the first mag, by chambering it and then dropping it out, you still end up with 10 rounds right? I have heard that it’s easiest to carry a hot chamber (carrying one ready to go without needing to charge the handle and cycle the action to chamber a round) if you
    1. Use 10 round mag to load one in chamber by cycling it from your mag while loaded.
    2. Unload mag only, by dropping mag and insert another round into your mag.
    3. Load mag into hot chambered gun with 10+1 in the chamber!
If I missed something, and when you cleared the gun, If you then added another round to make 11, I’m sorry for the mistake ! Hope you stay safe.

You both need a lot of training. You’re gear is NOT set up correctly and OC spray (IS) non-lethal. Learn use of force continuum. Also, the way your (Sgt) dry fired his weapon is simply careless. You never squeeze the trigger of any firearm unless ready to engage a threat and you especially don’t do it with live ammunition around.
How to properly clear a firearm is making sure magazine well is empty, then visually check the chamber and then racking the slide several times with finger OFF trigger. Then you may proceed to load a magazine into the magazine well, rack the slide and chamber a round.
One of your comments, you stated you are in no way a professional. Well if you have police on your uniform and carry a firearm, then you SHOULD be a professional and well trained.
Not trying to bash you, but this video is embarrassing in terms of lack of training. I have 12 years experience in law enforcement position myself.

I'm a former security officer and I eventually achieved a degree in criminal justice. This was a very professional quality instructional video that you made. You would be an awesome instructor.

No hate at all. But FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.... please don't ever put your cable lock through the barrel. It should go through the ejection port and down the magazine well and lock below the gun. Nothing should ever go through a firearms barrel except for rounds down range and cleaning equipment (when used properly). If you damage your barrel you risk losing accuracy as well as functionality.
And I'm sorry you live in a city/ state with gun restrictions. In VA we use the original 17 round magazines. So with 3 mags and 1 in the chamber we have 52 rounds.

Mag pouches should be in front of pistol for low ready mag changes.

  •  Před 5 měsíci

Baton is a lethal weapon and should be on the lethal side.
Oc is non-lethal and should be on your non lethal side.
Hit that mag in its a gun use it like one. Stop with all the extra crap.
Index finger should be infront of the mag when loading. Store your mags in a way that your index finger is on the front of the mag when you pull it out. Use your finger as a guide. Slam it in there. If you do a tac-reload with a full mag you will not seat the mag properly just by gently pushing it up when you already have one in the chamber.
Also your badge should be on your gun side.
Do yourself a favor and get some more training.
    Stay safe!

Red Lion 718 .... Thanks for the love hun and yes you can have two different SPO license as long as they are for different states. But if it’s for the same state you can only have one armed SPO license and one SO license. Hope this answered your question.

This cheap duty belt set up will get you killed.
There was so many mistakes in this video but the 2 main things are you need to invest in a triple retention holster instead of a cheap ass paddle holster also that baton holster is cheap and should not be moving around like that and you are supposed to have a inner Velcro for your duty belt that you put the belt keepers on. You don’t put your belt keepers on your normal everyday belt that’s not what it’s used for idk what company you work for but they should have informed you on these things but besides that you seem pretty ambitious and ready to work that’s good 👍🏽
