  • @knivesinedc
    @knivesinedc Před 3 lety +62

For anyone curious, this is the official range qualification setup.
    Stage 1 15 yards 6 rounds in 30 seconds
    *6 standing position
    Stage 2 7 yards 14 rounds in 45 seconds(includes 2 reloads) (load 6, 6 and 2)
    *6 standing position
    *8 kneeling position
Stage 3 7 yards 6 rounds in 10 seconds (any position)
Stage 4 7 yards 12 rounds in 25 seconds (includes reload)
    (load 6 and 6)
    *6 strong hand unsupported
    (reload and switch hands)
    *6 weak hand unsupported
    Stage 5 5 yards 6 rounds
    *3 rounds in 4 seconds (2 stages)
    Stage 6 3 yards 6 rounds
    *2 rounds in 3 seconds (3 stages)
It is 50 rounds total. The shots all need to be in the A zones of the target, which is within the ring marked with a 7. It is not standard practice, but my instructor was a former sheriff's deputy, and therefore had us practice speed and tactical reloads. It is highly advisable that you get to know your firearm well, and take it to the range on your own to get comfortable with it beforehand so you're better prepared for the qualifications. You will need a holster for your weapon. It is also highly advisable to have a hard holster, with active retention because you never want to carry your firearm on duty in a passive retention holster. The gentleman in the video mentioned it being able to leave your post with the firearm on your person, and although this is absolutely the letter of the law, the spirit of the law is not the same. You can also take your firearm with you if you have an on duty lunch break. Where I live in CA, Law Enforcement pay little attention to you if you're in public and armed when in uniform. Even if you're picking up groceries after work. Talk with your local instructors and ask them about the armed guard climate in your area. It is also often not mentioned, but it is beyond advisable to ensure you have 1 magazine in the firearm and 2 spare magazines on your person. That's 3 magazines total. There is no stipulation saying you can't carry more, but 2 spares is the minimum recommended.
When submitting your application, always do it online if you are able. It cuts down the process by 2 weeks on average. Also, Always submit your application FIRST and then your livescan (fingerprints) SECOND. If you reverse the order, they will send your application back as deficient. If anyone has any questions, or would like a link to the BSIS forms detailing all of this, just ask!

You should feel isometric force in your hands with your gun. Push and pull at the same time. Keep your dominate arm straight, rotate your shoulder, drop your opposite elbow. Half step back. Congratulations, you're in the weaver stance.

How to become an armed security guard. Simple, take the useless state required class and then apply to a company. States that don’t have a workers permit/ security guard license, just apply to a company.
Additional training would come from a company one works. Example, when I first got my license and worked county contracts. I had to do two weeks of in house training. Even though my license was six months fresh at the time.
Security is not a hard gig and job to get. Anyone without a serious felony or misdemeanor, in most states, within the past five years can be a security guard, armed or unarmed.
There is no difference between a security guard and an armed security guard or “officer” as many like to call themselves. Same thing. Only difference is one carries a sidearm and the other don’t.
Does an armed guard have more powers and authority than an unarmed guard?
    No!
Does an armed guard have arrest authority, other than a citizens arrest just like an unarmed guard or any other non sworn civilian?
    No!
Is an armed guard a sworn and certified law enforcement officer and an unarmed guard isn’t?
    No!
Does an armed guard have qualified immunities and an unarmed guard don’t?
    No!
Can an armed guard pursue a criminal committing criminal acts off of their property and be covered by insurance and qualified immunity but an unarmed guard can’t?
    No!
Does an armed guard have the authority to install red or blue emergency lights and run emergency traffic and an unarmed guard can’t?
    No!
I can go on and on….
Becoming a security guard is not hard at all. There is not even a mental health or a physical fitness requirement. And there is no difference between a security guard that is armed and a security guard that is unarmed.
We’re not police or any other form of law enforcement or anything of that nature. We’re just neighborhood watch committees but for specific properties only. That’s the reality of security guards. Both armed and unarmed.

I own a security company in, California and Securiry companies with armed contracts should have at least minimum of, 5 to 7 million dollar liability policy. Majority of shootings, even justified ones, can cost 3 to 5 million in defense costs and other costs for defending the officer and company. Plus, even in justified shootings, the family of the person killed and or injured will sue still and usually gets awarded money, around 500k to 1 million. So, having 5 to 7 million in liability insurance coverage is definitely worth it. It honestly doesn't cost a ton more in monthly premiums for the 5 to 7 million coverage. I mean, a company with 15 employees with a 1 million dollar coverage is only around, 300 to 350 a month. 2 million is only like, 40 to 70 bucks more each month. 7 million can cost around, 1k to 1.5k a month but is definitely worth it. Most security companies do not have 7 plus million dollars laying around in savings for a shooting defense and lawsuits. While still having funds to continue to operate the business.

Knock on wood but it would seem like an easy target. Hemet is full of sketchy people and felons who have to intention of being an honest citizen. So with that being said I don’t think it was smart for him to openly carry at that exact moment. Probably one reason they encourage you to not do any side task while carrying

Statistically open carry states have smaller populations, and have different world views, so open carry works just fine. But in a big city, or heavily populated area, might not be a good idea.
