- Muskie fishing translates well for me since I am use to long days or weeks or even months without catching trophy largemouth on big swimbaits. Simms invited me up to beautiful Lake Vermillion in Minnesota which is known for being one of the best muskie lakes in the world. This video is a recap of a week of fishing that I will never forget.

Beautiful fish! We were up on Vermilion 2 weeks before this and did good on walleye, but no muskies. We spent most of our time on the Cook side. The water level was crazy low.

Congrats DUDE! Muskie are so much fun, you cant even describe it. Last year on Cave run they were extremely active. I was bass fishing and caught a nice muskiee. Somehow I landed the fish without breaking him off. It was the most fun I ever had fishing. I caught him on my trusty weightless senko setup St croix 7'M w/ultegra and 30 lb braid. I dont know how to handle muskiee but luckily the hook had gone all the way through the roof of his mouth and I cut the braid. I didnt get him out of the water but I did keep him in the net long enough to get some video, else nobody would believe ya right? lol
Nice my first musky was on a jig with 10 pound flourocarbon 47 incher

Geoff we have "Tiger Musky" up here in Idaho. Ive got 5 gal buckets as tackleboxes for all the huge musky baits.. I grew up on vermilion! Great fish bro! I know people who have scuba dived there that say if people knew the size of some fish in there they’d never let their kids go swimming! My cousin got bit by a Muskie while a bunch of us were swimming as kids. 30 stitches to close her foot up.

What would you recommend for a heavy pulling bait reel (double 10 bucktails etc.)? Right now I’m looking at the Diawa lexa TW 400P-P, lexa HD 400PWR-P, the Okuma Komodo SS KDS-436P, shimano tranx 500, and the Diawa Prorex 400P-P. I would prefer a solid line pickup (in terms of spool size), but it’s not 100% needed, and a gear ratio of 5.3:1 5.1:1 4.3:1 or 4.1:1

That's an amazing fish brother- one day I'd love to fish for Muskie. I live in northwest Alabama so isn't really that far to east Tenn. -but they're so tough to target it makes it seem pointless without a guide or something- and multiple days to fish. Maybe one day- great catch dude, congrats.
Yeah, you definitely have to spend some good time chasing them if you haven’t fished for them before but they can be worth it if you get them figured out!

We have tried it before, the only problem with the bait is that it doesn’t have a lot of pull through the water so it’s hard to draw them out
