- @SEGA Dreamcast is an incredible console, and in my mind one of the first at home arcades. Join me for a re-unboxing of the original 9.9.99 Dreamcast and find out why it's SO incredible in this video!
Shoutout to team ECHELON, wherever you guys are!

Mouse and keyboard were also for Quake 3 and Unreal 99
YES! Totally forgot! And I used to play a lot of Q3Arena on DC when it first came out!
Its also funny functional with Confidential Mission.
One thing a lot of people forgot about the launch of the Dreamcast back in 9-9-99 was the hardware compatibility issues with certain games. Certain first wave of games wouldn't played certain manufactured hardware which caused major headaches for retailers. I was an ASM on Dreamcast Day and we had many returns because of hardware issues.
I remember getting the Dreamcast 09.9.99 back in my college days. I remember I used my college tuition money to get it. It was a blast to play and it had the arcade exclusives that were better on that platform over the Playstation ports. Fast forward to 2020, I recollected for the Dreamcast, thanks to my lil brother getting me one. I pretty much collected for the Japanese library and have a few US games. I have 2 Dreamcasts consoles a US one and a Japanese one, both still with disc drives and custom smoke and clear shells, upgraded the PSU and a modded the controller board for that internal battery replacement. I do have a few translucent colored controllers with their matching colors (no yellow, that $hit's expensive), an ascii fight pad and a Sega fight stick that I completely transformed, themed as a Astro city stick (green). I threw a Sanwa JLF w/ a Phreak Mod quick release lever with a Kori hollow bat top, Sanwa silent buttons, Astro city artwork with a custom plexiglass (focusattack) and a black controller plug, just to be different. Probably my favorite game I have on the Dreamcast is Project Justice.
Dreamcast fight-stick is fantastic 🎉
Dreamcast was a powerhouse for its time when it came to arcade to home conversions. Not just Naomi and Model 3 ports. CPS2, CPS3, MVS, Namco System 12, Capcom ZN2 and the list goes on. Its my favorite SEGA console and easily my favorite console of all time. My DC collection borders on insanity by now lol! And I was main organizer of the Dreamcast Anniversary event in Southern California for 4 years straight.
One accessory that i wished was mentioned in the video was the VGA Box/Cable. Like its Naomi brethren, Dreamcast can natively output at Hi-Resolution 31 KHz. With the right monitor (and even some modern flat screens) games looks absolute gorgeous and near 1to1 parity compared to their arcade counterparts.
My personal favorite accessory is the System Link Cable which lets you run Virtual On in true arcade head to head with another setup. Sadly its very rare and thus prohibitively expensive.
Great video! That is really cool that you were able to replace the disc unit on your Dreamcast and it even more cool that you have had that one since 1999. I really enjoy these types of videos and I always like to hear everyone's gaming memories. I wish I was around to see the launch of the Dreamcast. I wonder what it was like. I would for sure give everything a fix, too. A lot of it is rather simple.
You are hands down Dreamcast super fan number 1
Such a slept-on console! Loved playing it with physical discs back in the day! ❤
💿✨🎮
Hands down the most underrated console ever. It had the BEST of the BEST arcade ports in 2000. RIP Dreamcast....You will be missed. Also, record of Lodos, most under rated RPG ever! Powerstone series, CannonSpike, fighting games, ShenMu I can go on and on. What a killer system!
💯!!!
Thanks to Retro Ralph, A Sega Dreamcast was FINALLY added to my collection for first time EVER just a few weeks ago!!!
My favourite arcade channel and my favourite all time console. 👌🕺🏽
Who ever at Sega thought of giving it the name Dreamcast, is a genius! One of my favorite consoles of all time, next to the neo geo!
Yes they certainly where. According to many accounts, the name was thought up by Kenji Eno within SEGA❤
Being able to play Crazy Taxi in my living room in early 2000 was incredible. Great days.
I really enjoyed seeing your collection and I think it's awesome you still have your OG Dreamcast. One of my favorite things about it was that it really was the arcade at home with so many good ports.
In retrospective the dreamcast was ahead of his time SF3 was awesome in dreamcast
Great video! I really love the Dreamcast as well. Such a perfect arcade console for the home :D
I recently picked up Crazy Taxi 2 and Project Justice here in Japan. 2 fantastic game for system!
For me, the Dreamcast is my favorite console with an incredible games library, there's something for everyone. I have a Dreamcast at home, euro version, it's joy for my friends when they discover the console and the games 😁 for them this console didn't exist 🤣. Soon I'm going to get 2 Light guns and 2 aracde sticks.
Damn I miss the dreamcast
I still play rush2049 with the homies. We play battle mode all the time
Always loved the sneaky snipe at playstation in the dreamcast relese video. Mega drive remains my favourite sega console
i use two astro city mini sticks with brooks dreamcast/saturn adapters 😎
The dreamcast probably has one of the most accessories made for it for that Gen of consoles back then. Zero gunner 2 is probably one of my fav on the dreamcast. Japan had the best releases.
I love my dreamcast and played it alot. It did get flood damage so I'm having my boss take it apart, do a cleaning and check the electronics(particularly the Capacitors shrooming) I have the Model that plays burned discs so that's why it's being saved.
These types of videos are definitely my jam. Especially since I never owned a Dreamcast. My biggest gaming regret. Played most of the DC to GC ports that sega made. Going to checkout sturmwind ex on switch because I love shmups. Never heard of this.
Nice topic I still have my og dreamcast, got it in 2000. I used to download ripped grdom images from idrive and various other early cloud storage websites, ftp and primarily later binary usenet groups. Burned them usually with disk juggler I still have all that stuff but sadly some don't work, cd-r rot was a real thing after all 😄 Need to pick up one of the ode's for the DC but probably will pick up a spare unit for that to save the OG console
lol! Yup FTP servers, DiscJuggler and ECHELON iso's. If you watch the very end of the video I kind of did a shout out to those days :)
@@NEONBattleBitch yeah i see that now didn't quite go that far sorry 😄 all coming back. before they popped up it was kallisto they released psx stuff also before the DC hack got going there used to be some kind of boot disc thing I think before all of that started, I think that enabled all of that stuff I think I even have that somewhere too. it probably doesn't boot though. last game I tried wasvirtua tennis or tennis 2k something and it didn't load 😄
Dude code breaker is soooo hard to find. If you do find it, $300.
Check my community post, the cheats disc is basically the same thing and you can get them for $30ish on eBay. That’s crazy expensive for the Code Breaker though
No talk of Phantasy Star Online ver.2?😢
It’s definitely an excellent game, but this video was about Dreamcast accessories 😁
Maybe I’ll do a top 10 one of these days!
🤘🎮🕹🍻
Jesus loves you
Do you have a boyfriend ma’am
