  • The Nitecore EDC27 is innovative, but not perfect...yet. Why do I say that? Because I love the direction Nitecore is going with the EDC27. Its innovative and they're trying new things with this design and UI. But As I discuss in the video, theres still work to be done and improvements to be made. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I read all of them.

Bought one for my dad for Christmas. Once I saw how cool it was I bought one for myself. Instant access of up to four modes is crazy it is built like a tank.
And it is close to perfect for the Harries flashlight technique with a handgun.

I just got my EDC27 and I think they silently updated the flashlight. It now has a proximity sensor on the head of the flashlight that will automatically force the output to 65lm when it detects an obstruction such as a pocket, bag, or sleeve if the brightness is set to 1000lm or turbo. I was confused at first because the website does not say anything about this but the manual indicates that it has such a function. I tried it and it works. I have it in my pocket, press turbo, it fires up turbo mode for but dims the light immediately. Pretty cool.

I actually really like mine. For this new design of flat flashlight it’s the best out there. I the 3000 lm is specifically to blind somebody for more Monday and uses. I don’t mind unlocking it. if I had only one complaint, I wish that the clip went flush to the end so the flashlight sits down low in your pocket like a pocket knife.

The built in battery is an advantage, not a disadvantage. If you like being able to swap batteries, have a backup light that runs on primaries. If they make the battery removable, they will have to allow for more potential ingress points and less battery life in the same size. The advantage of it being built in is more dust and water resistance and battery life in the same form factor, and being rechargeable allows you to plug it in in your car, at work, etc
Trying to turn one of these into a traditional light kind of defeats the purpose. I like having both these slim lights that have built in batteries and more traditional lights running on primaries. There’s room for both in the industry, but I don’t want something in between that’s like this but with the battery replaceable. Heck, any time you’d replace the battery you’d likely be making possible ingress worse by wearing down the battery cover.

Despite all its shortcomings (small non-removable battery, not a long turbo mode, lack of normal moisture protection), a flashlight with a big plus. It is not like other flashlights! lack of support for memory cards, fm radio, clock, gps navigation. This is a joke)) Seriously, it would be better to make a side LED panel with rgb backlight. little use for it...

Since the lens is clear, there is no worry’s about it melting, unless you place it up against a solid colour object which would transfer all the heat back into the light. Because it’s clear the light can pass through while the heat will move into the lights body instead of the lens.
