- The Nitecore EDC27 is innovative, but not perfect...yet. Why do I say that? Because I love the direction Nitecore is going with the EDC27. Its innovative and they're trying new things with this design and UI. But As I discuss in the video, theres still work to be done and improvements to be made. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I read all of them.

I love the instant turbo/strobe button. I'm glad I held out on buying the arkfeld because I think this is the one I'm getting.
Just triedmine tonight doing delivery-this light is the GOAT!
Bought one for my dad for Christmas. Once I saw how cool it was I bought one for myself. Instant access of up to four modes is crazy it is built like a tank.
And it is close to perfect for the Harries flashlight technique with a handgun.
I just got my EDC27 and I think they silently updated the flashlight. It now has a proximity sensor on the head of the flashlight that will automatically force the output to 65lm when it detects an obstruction such as a pocket, bag, or sleeve if the brightness is set to 1000lm or turbo. I was confused at first because the website does not say anything about this but the manual indicates that it has such a function. I tried it and it works. I have it in my pocket, press turbo, it fires up turbo mode for but dims the light immediately. Pretty cool.
I don't know if it would have been prevented by the 'dimming' feature, but my 20i has melted a couple of polyester pockets on my Eddie Bauer 'Guide' pants.
I actually really like mine. For this new design of flat flashlight itâs the best out there. I the 3000 lm is specifically to blind somebody for more Monday and uses. I donât mind unlocking it. if I had only one complaint, I wish that the clip went flush to the end so the flashlight sits down low in your pocket like a pocket knife.
EXCELLENT review!
I have this flashlight and I haven really happy with it. Only negative thing might be the battery that you can't get new one so easily but I think that when it's gone I want to buy newer flashlight anyways so I don't mind about it too much.
If the battery was replaceable, it had a sideswitch and was waterproof they would have a winner.
lmfao. so its no problem buying an iphone/apple watch/airpods with integrated battery but suddendly its a problem for flashlight? the logic of american people is crazy....
@@the_nma5119 I don't buy Apple products...
@@the_nma5119 exactly.
The built in battery is an advantage, not a disadvantage. If you like being able to swap batteries, have a backup light that runs on primaries. If they make the battery removable, they will have to allow for more potential ingress points and less battery life in the same size. The advantage of it being built in is more dust and water resistance and battery life in the same form factor, and being rechargeable allows you to plug it in in your car, at work, etc⊠Trying to turn one of these into a traditional light kind of defeats the purpose. I like having both these slim lights that have built in batteries and more traditional lights running on primaries. Thereâs room for both in the industry, but I donât want something in between thatâs like this but with the battery replaceable. Heck, any time youâd replace the battery youâd likely be making possible ingress worse by wearing down the battery cover.
â@GluttonforPunishment It might be an advantage if it was actually waterproof and not just splash resistant. Plenty of lights running 18650s etc. that are waterproof.
I love the form factor, however the screen is starting to get "jelly" and the burn factor in my pocket if I forget to lock it has been an issue.
The screen is gonna peel any day now, will it bust the light? Idk
Also mine says 4k turbo.
You are near Buffalo? I live in Albion, NY. I just ordered this light. Itâs on back order right now, says will ship around the 22nd this month. I own at least 6 Nitecore lights and I love them. I really like the lock out feature. The problem I have with my P20i is it will turn on in my pocket at work and Iâve melted so many pockets. Lol. Great vid.
I have this light and its pretty damn good.
Same here =) I'm really happy with it.
@@Whigu yes its really good and yes on turbo you can start a fire in your pocket if you dont lock it lol
@@tonymengela3575 it sadly turns it to lower level if there is something front of the lenses đ
@@Whigu not really if you know what your doing and I personally forgot to lock it and threw it in pocket bent over to pick up something and hit button and burned right through my pockets and nice burn on leg. It was my own fault knowing better but it does ignite stuff
@@tonymengela3575 do you have earlier version of this light without that safety feature?
Man, the flashlight world is starting to get FUBAR!! Thanks for your time brotherâ
its a very good light I own one it fits pocket perfect and works very well. I found this review not genuine and one sided
No rattles right? One reviewer shook and heard prominent rattle⊠thanks great video!
I have 2 pcs with terrible rattle
As far as I know it was with first models but not a problem anymore.
Iâd prefer half press low mode, full press for momentary turbo. Not a fan of strobe at all for self defense
Nodded 4000k led's in this is the way to go
Great presentation and one excellent EDC light, but, I don't like the fact that it does not come with a lanyard eyelid.
What is this I hear about this unit coming on in the pocket?
A cool flashlight with an excellent design. I wanted it as soon as I saw it, without even turning it on! Despite all its shortcomings (small non-removable battery, not a long turbo mode, lack of normal moisture protection), a flashlight with a big plus. It is not like other flashlights! lack of support for memory cards, fm radio, clock, gps navigation. This is a joke)) Seriously, it would be better to make a side LED panel with rgb backlight. little use for it...
i got their discontinued SRT9 The Lumintop EDC18 is better than the EDC27 because the 2800 lumen turbo mode can stay on a lot longer
Just picked one up for $50 out the door with some coupons from Aliexpress!
Tiny battery is the trade off for the flatness
Tiny battery? How long runtime you need it to be enough?
â @@Whigua regular 18650 has about 3000 mAh, whereas this has less than 2000 mAh.
@@daniel_lobster probably but I asked about runtimes...
Hi sir May I know the EDC27 in front of the LED lamp is glass or plastic can it melt when use 1000 lumen or turn on the turbo or we use the EDC27 more then 10 minutes can it melt Tks for yr reply
Since the lens is clear, there is no worryâs about it melting, unless you place it up against a solid colour object which would transfer all the heat back into the light. Because itâs clear the light can pass through while the heat will move into the lights body instead of the lens.
Nice design with survival features in mind, but I don't think it has anything to do with "tactical". You can't even find a sharp edge on it.
Nitecore edc27 and olight arkfeld, which 1 you recommend, thank
Sweet.
This vs Olight Arkfeld..which one would you choose?
this one, I own it and honestly its really good
I own both. If I were going to pick one up, it would be the Nightcore. The Olight itâs significantly smaller, and has 1000 lm and sits flush in the pocket. It also has a magnetic and so you can stick it somewhere to do work.
Sucks that you can't replace the battery. Seems like a nice light but once it dies your screwed.
Sadly Nitecore makes cool stuff but the fact they use proprietary, non replaceable batteries just kills it. Once those batteries degrade you have a paperweight.
Exactly
And where is this ecology? Electro-junk production.
LED lifetime 50,000hrs. Li-Ion 1000-5000hrs. Eco friendly products đ€Ł. Greta where arÄ you? đ€Ł
@@jackblock7451 lol sheâs only there when you donât need her xD
At least charger connector is normal USB-C and not like olight their own magnetic thingy
Im still a fan of the Surefire Stiletto
Just canceled my order. I like the flat design but not having a changeable battery was it for me.
They gotta stop making great flashlight with built in batteries, that's my complain about it other than that it's a almost perfect EDC.
1000lm-1h45min. 200lm-3h45min. The math doesn't add up. I think 1000lm keeps this power for a few minutes and drops to 500lm. Fenix ââor Olight describe or how Fenix ââshow the decline graph.
"Splash proof" For this priceđłđ
Hey ik itâs been a few years but could you do another review on the dango A10 adapt spec ops bifold wallet
Why?
I don't like strobe functions.
The power button is squishyđand yes it needs side buttons
This is a good proposition. However I have many doubts about it. Many of the same you mentioned.
Non-replaceable battery, low battery capacity, no moonlight mode, low water resistance rating.
Even though innovative, it is hard to choose this in comparison to other readily available options in the market like Olights warrior mini 2.
This just launched, but it would be interesting to see a version 2 of this and how they address some of the issues you mentioned. Great review as always
Iâm hoping for a quick turn around here and they release a V2 this year
Chicago..ZNAJDZIESZ ZNAJDZIESZ MNIE-?
This any any light that does not have a replaceable battery (even Nitecore won't) is a no go for me. I "want to" like this light, but can't do it. Once the cell begins to fail, this becomes a $90 doorstop.
PLEASE BUYER BE AWARE!! WHEN THIS FLASHLIGHT GETS TO HOTTâšïžđ„âïžđĄFOR SAFETY ISSUES, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE 1000LM MODE, 3000LM TURBO/STROBE MODE!!!!
Yes thatâs normal. Itâs called step down. When it gets hot itâll step down to lower levels and you canât access higher modes. The problem is this flashlight gets VERY HOT!
Should have made it programmable. Edc mode, tactical mode, not both at the same time.
The screen could be smaller. Ridges around it would also help protect it from breakage. That's a design flaw in my opinion.
go get a masters degree in electrical engineering then apply for the job. fix the ''design flaw'' then maybe your opinion matters.
No side switch kills it for me.
Turbo mode... too short
Battery
No this is flashlight
small battery
The production of flashlights and smartphones with a built-in battery should be banned.
Ye
It wouldn't be able to fit regular batteries... Look at the form factor.
People would still most likely complain if it were removable as itâd have to be proprietary due to its shape
If you don't like it, don't buy it. Its a free market, and nothing should ever be banned. This mentality is the reason US gov isn't afraid to be tyrannical. Peace
Shouldn't be banned. Nitecore should just be required to sell replacement batteries
DO NOT BUY THE EDC27. I have one and there is a flaw in the power button. It does not work half the time. VERY difficult to take out of lockout mode.
I have one and it has been perfect this far no problem with power button at all.
