- We're still plugging away on the Drag Challenge ute, trying to button up the plumbing and wiring before fire this beast up for the first time.
While we're doing that our good mates Benny and Redmond are in the USA riding two bikes across America, all the way from California to a bike rally in Daytona Beach, Florida. They're raising money for the Black Dog Institute and you can help them reach their goal by donating.

When Scotty brings out the landscaping tools, you know it’s getting serious and that you’re in for a great episode 🔥🤘
This build has so many cool parts - it's like Christmas in March! 😀
Electric power steering pump mounted where the battery used to be, 1 less belt on the front of the motor, less hoses around the motor and turbo kit and makes the motor easier to remove when something goes wrong...
Please mount the trans cooler at the front of the car where it will get good airflow going down the road where it'll work best in the drag and drive type events. Rear mount coolers will need the fan going constantly, it's ok for a trailer queen.
It's a though but have alot of things drawing power already
Hassan Chop! ✂️
Good on you for shouting out Benny and Redmond’s great cause.
They're good blokes
Enjoying watching the build and looking forward to seeing it at DC this year. I'd also love to see a build list with costs so the average monkey can see what it would cost to build such a thing.
The cost might be a little scary to be honest.
The average person can't afford this without taking out a 60k loan.
@@Low760-- try doubling that amount.
It's great when you get sponsored by the various companies flogging their equipment that they sell.
Good trick if you can get it.
Yeah if that's not well over $100k including labour, I'll be shocked.
@@handlebarmonkeymotoadventu4664 not counting Labour.
Very knowledgeable Scotty. This ute is gonna be a beast when it's done.
I loved the crowbar action…. lol
Have a look at an Astra elec power steering pump. They do draw some current, but negates the need for a belt driven pump.
Good job Scotty on the Ute 👍
We have one, but I was trying to avoid using it because we have so many things drawing power already.
@@STREETMACHINETVsecond battery?
Perfection a Carnage video to start my morning off, on ya Scotty 💪🏼
Good on ya for shouting out about red & Benny, They are doing great things to raise money and awareness.
Looking forward to this 7 litre smoking up the track Scotty🏁
you could also use an electric type power steer pump located in the rear next to the surge tank
We are considering that
I'm doing the Black Dog ride this year myself to York motorcycle festival. Great cause, and it's great to see you promoting it, Scotty.👍
Have to compliment you guys on the music you've been spinnin' lately. Whole lot more interesting than the stock music you hear in a lot of channels
The uterus is coming along nicely Scotty, can't wait for you to deal with all that power on the strip!
You must be getting damn good fuel lines and wiring now. Going be tough ole ute.
Love you work as always Scotty! Can’t wait to see how the Ute build will turn out! Am very excited for you haha. Keep up the good work mate!
With that much fuel system, she's not going to be short of drinking down that sweet sweet E85.
You should nickname the Ute as “The Proflow Ute” as she has more proflow products than any other car to date 😂 😂 great tidy work she’s looking the business now.
How handy would it be if someone created a tool that clips on your thumb (or a finger) and has a texta that slots in it. You can then offer up a hose or pipe with two hands and use your digit to mark the length without having to remember the spot.
Happy to donate.
Scotty, I'm just going to throw an opinion to ponder. You guys built the Lexcen as a grandad appearing sleeper, why not go full boar on the ute? HSV style full bodykit with hard lid and GTS/R type rear spoiler and VT Monaro style bonnet? Make it look the goods as well as going hard. After all that is what street machining has always been about.
It will look great when finished
All the flow gonna need shares in united 🤣👍🍻
Great work mate
scotty an electric power steer pump out of an AH astra can be mounted anywhere. I have fitted them to a 64 stang and a zd fairlane
Scotty. Where's the 'that's what she said' line gone.
There were quite a couple of good ones.like after the trans cooler fitment, when you said '.....somewhere in the back' there it would have been perfect! Lol😂 keep up the good work ol' boy!
Nut sert the bed floor, or removing the tank's going to be a pain.
Yeah maybe, but the problem with outsert is, if they not absolutely spot on, then they can be a pain. Simple holes have some wiggle room.
Scotty and the Street Machine band are proud to present "Fit Ya Bastard" the musical.....!! An epic journey into the world of big men with big dongers and how they use them best......lol.
No soft coc....um....limp wristed inderv......no.....can't say that either.....EGO's! Yes, ego's were harmed in the making of this.....thing? Um...production!
Scotty plasma tables are old news, mate you want a CNC laser cutter. Quicker, cleaner, tighter lines with more detail and more accurate plus they also do laser engraving for fold lines, and top side so you bugger up less material at the folder.
Cool bashing soundtrack.
Scotty this episode had more brackets then project blinky but less cups of teas.
👍🏻👍🏻
I'm surprised you haven't gone with an Astra electric power steering pump and have it mounted behind the front bar or somewhere in the tray.
Trying not to add load to the electrical system
No Hassan Chops? They're the best bit! We need our Hassan Chops!
I gave you one, did you miss it?
@@STREETMACHINETV yeah mate
@STREETMACHINETV OK just rematches Scotty saw it😎
Go electric power steering pump and keep in mind that you might go super charger .
We've gone for another solution
Any chance we could see that battery in one of those plastic battery boxes for a bit of battery to fuel isolation?
I can, if it makes you feel more comfortable
@@STREETMACHINETVthank you, it would very much. I'm sure the tech guys would probably appreciate it too.
what part 13 ive missed so much on this build.
Time to catch up
Interesting, have been told by multiple people to not run 3x 525's as they have trouble and also dont end up supplying enough fuel!
Will be curious to see how yours go! May end up getting them if it works for you haha
We'll see how we go. I think the secret is going to be getting enough power to them.
Can't wait to hear her fire.ya look a bit worn out scotty hope everything goes good but remember it is a v8 ha ha.peace
👍👍👍
What class will this run in Scotty?
Are you looking at low 8’s maybe 7’s??
One last one, will it be road registered?
It’s going to be a weapon…
Probably 8.5 class
Gotta love a Friday. Carnage is a great weekend kick off.
A question, and feel free to call me and idiot, but it's there a chance that by running the fuel line up through the inner guard, that something may flick up from the road and damage it? Or am I being overly dramatic? Probably overly dramatic.
There are no perfect options, it's a matter of choosing the option with the least amount of potential issues
Has there been research into Ute vs sedan vs wagon for drag racing ???? Better aero? Weight transfer ??
Not yo my knowledge. Most people use sedans
Would you get in trouble off yaboss if you did a minute of crow baring to music in the next video.
When u going to do the hemi torana?
Let's finish the other projects first
Who needs power steering pumps just go manual rack because race car I’m sure the trans cooler will work fine under the back end because race car
If only they were easy to get
@@STREETMACHINETV I’m not completely sure but wouldn’t a early commi like vb one bolt in and rod ends off your be vs go onto it if that is so mate Facebook marketplace shit loads of rotted out early commi with manual racks I have one but not wanting to part with it
@douglasbaxter3346 I did the VL rack conversion to a VN about 20 years ago, and while the rack bolts in the shaft from the column to the rack is different. Holden used to make a shaft that was right, but it's obsolete now
If you don't want to mark your ally fittings put a plastic bag between them and your spanner.
Nice tip
@STREETMACHINETV that's what she said...
why not use electric power steering column to eliminate power steering pump
I'm trying to reduce the number of current draining devices where possible, but I'm running out of options.
...that didn't look like submersible fuel hose on the fuel pumps
Literally has submerible written on the side
Any of these builds STREET LEGAL
That's an odd question for someone with "lawless" in their username
Mate where's the mang? I know this might rate well but it's big dollars and no longer street level.
The Supermang will be making a comeback after we finish this
why didnt you put the three earths from the pumps on one post and the drive wires on each of the others allowing the three pumps to be brang on as required ??
We could do that, but in all honesty we don't need that. We need one pump to run the car during normal operations but once we're on it we need everything, so we really only need two stages and not three. But it was a good idea.
@@STREETMACHINETV with the three pumps on key you could always change over to a different pump if your main one went pop on a road trip
,by using the haltech key pad
Is there any risk of electrical noise creating havoc with the coil and injector wiring being that close together? I’ve never played with high power ignition like this, so just wondering for future Brett when he wins lotto 😂
EMI, loom interference is a big think with ignition modules. Even worse when engines are not grounded correctly, that will eat coils. Seen a big hp deal eat 8 coils just from block ground being non existent.
I guess we will find out, but everything will be well earthed.
Building a good drag car. But drag cars dont need power steering
i think they know more than you mate
It's also a street car
@@STREETMACHINETV but will it be street legal?
Surge tank won't fit?
Just beat the floor into submission
It fit, the floor just wasn't flat due to previous owners hitting stuff underneath
Vk manual rack?
You need the right intermediate shaft and Holden no longer makes it to my knowledge
That trans cooler looks to small
We'll find out soon enough.
OR though seems silly , and I'm unsure how factory did it , "BUT" why don't you drill a hole with a grommet in the back of Back panel of tray / cabin of the ute , though the cabin ( IN FRONT OF THE FUEL PUMP ) , on the "PASSANGERS side" and run the fuel line along the floor ( under the carpet if running it , ) though to the fire wall "AGAIN with a Grommet etc DIRECT to the ENGINE , "INSTEED OF GOING TO ALL THAT EFFORT avoiding exhaust's ETC , ON THE underneath OF THE UTE" ...Or if the fuel line in the car body scares you cut a circle length of steel in half then closing the fuel line from back panel to the fire wall , when feed though and weld the half circle pipe to the chassis in side along the the passengers sill to the fire wall to the engine , THUS selling it from fire risk ........... SIMPLE AS hell , ...................... "common MAN JUST a little thought right !!!!! "
I like to avoid running fuel through the cabin where possible
@@STREETMACHINETVmmmm, fumigation 😂
@honestpat7789 That's so cursed... Take my upvote and leave🤣
BUT AS I SAID ADDING A Half channel solves all your under car issue if WELDED UP LIKE a car chassis component ITS Sealed , ADRESSING the fuel fire issue ,THUS feeding the fuel line though to the fire wall / simple @MACHINETV
So simple welding jn a pipe through a cabin.
Finish the L67 build ffs
are you using the stock pump as just a lift pump?, i need to put a surge into my ef xr6 but the stock hanger is as good as bull with tits
Stock pump is fine for a lift pump, but it's also easy to put a walbro 460lph pump in a EF XR6.
@@naiahhaian the stock tank surges really badly when it's less than 75% full
We run a stock pump to fill the surge in the Lexcen. I'm debating on whether to upgrade the ute pump. I probably will
I can't concentrate on the content because my brain is trying to figure out if that soft music in the background is Rock Lobster or not. I'm a man and can only concentrate on 1 thing at a time. The music is very distracting, hugely annoying and TOTALLY UNNECCESSARY!
haha, it actually is necessary sometimes
@@STREETMACHINETV Not when you are talking at the same time it's not!
So many negative Nancy’s 😂 I for one appreciate it Scotty. I would love to do this but but I’d never have the budget to do so, so I’m living precariously through these videos. Keep up the great work 👌🏼
Honestly dude u r a butcher
