- Building a modified car is all about overcoming the obstacles and this ute is throwing up plenty of those. In this episode we deal with sump issues, paint issues and bolt the diff into place.

Hi. Lift the engine 15mm and then put 15mm spacers between the k frame and the chassis rails, engine will be in the same place in regards to the body and you get rack clearance.

How good is making it fit. Think I had my engine in and out about 20 times lol. Dry sump pump hit the factory steering so I had to do a rack conversion that also hit the cross member. Had to mod the cross member to make clearance for the oil lines and fittings and the steering shaft. Now I’ve gotta get my turbos installed but I’m out of cash haha

Scotty, drill a 40mm hole in the flat part at the back of that sump, to make it easier to do up the converter bolts

Great episode Scotty. It is just nuts how much work is involved for everything you need to do. Get it is fun building the project but geez it is so much. Where you bolted the rear end in, as you mentioned its fully adjustable. Is it a standard that you start with and move it around? Was there logic for around the placement on ride height and so forth with this location?
If the deadline is going to be as tight as you say, you might have to put those weekends back in that you took away in the start of the episode. Just to be sure you have enough time when something else doesn't go to plan you'll have some extra time up your sleeve.

Holesaw a big hole in the back of the sump to make it easier to get convertor bolts off ;)
Hell yeah finally another company starting to make these pans, I do a shit load of vb-vs ls conversions and trying to find an ls1 pan is the hardest part !

RTS pans don't fit without cutting the K frame which is left out on these videos, sucks because I wanted my car engineered

Maybe your next project should be a hemi LS with flat plane crank, Ferrari style extractors, sequential multiport injection and an awesome twin turbo kit with interchiller. Put it on an auto gearbox with manual override. You could try it in a ve commodore. Just keep the stroke below 3.75 inches and you get good and smooth performance with better breathing. Try a FlatFast crank for fun. Budget ferrari.Future project?

what about using a starter generator Scotty?
Pretty sure it’s VN V6 K frame and VL rack for the most clearance from memory..
Also you might as well pull the 3 factory fuel lines out whilst you have the engine out, helps make a bit of room

It can affect the bump steer
Ford and holden scrimped on paint and only painted basecoat in the engine bays, so unless you bought a car painted white the engine bays are all crap...
