Rachelle.. I’ve been watching these along your way and liked the vibe you created, esp’ when you burst into song.
My Camino was 2018 and enjoy others joy.
You will never be as fulfilled.
You will always reflect on the last month.
You will never be as young again.

Hi Rachelle, I thoroughly enjoyed your vlogs. Thank you for all of the time and effort involved to tell your remarkable story.
FYI, the black stone Azabache, otherwise known as black amber, is cut and polished to make the jewelry. Probably best to buy it in one of the traditional shops near the Cathedral to guarantee authenticity. They can also re-polish the older stones, which look more handcrafted in my opinion. It is basically anthracite coal from a family of jurassic trees that were extinct more than 65 million years ago. The black amber is found in the northern coast of Spain, in the region of Austrias, where dinosaur imprints are still visible today. This old stone was a very popular jewelry item from the 16th century.
The stone is jet black and when polished shines bright. It was once highly valued due to the belief around the stone’s abilities. The stone would rid one of negative energy; as well as protect those who wear it from fear, indecisiveness and evil. To those who believe, Azabache is a magic and protective stone. Pilgrims would wear the stone to guard themselves from evil, and some would carve their memories of the Camino de Santiago into the stone.

I do like your ring! And interesting to see that jet is a special stone in Galicia as it is in my home county of Yorkshire, England. Nice that it is 'the stone of the road', l may have to get a pendant for that reason!

Fantastic another long awaited vlog. Now this is a little left of center, but I have always admired your ring. Is it mother of pearl? I remember that need to just go get some “regular” clothes, anything but what I had to wear for the last 38 or so days.

Thank you so much! My ring is actually a silicone ring by Qalo!! I didn’t want to bring my actually wedding band and engagement ring, so I got it to replace my set while on my Camino. 😊

Hi just curious did you buy an open end ticket and if so, what website did you use? I find that buying one way seems more expensive and it seems hard to gauge how long it will take. I’m planning on 40-42 days but I don’t think that will be quite long enough? So glad you have uploaded the end of your Camino. I’ve enjoyed your journey. I begin in Sept. ❤️

How exciting!! Thank you so much for watching! No, I had a round trip ticket but I accounted for extra days because 1) I wasn’t sure if I would continue walking to Finisterre and Muxía 2) in case of injury and 3) in case I wanted to take some zero days. So I had plenty of extra time to kill after Santiago because I ended up bussing to Finisterre/Muxía and I didn’t take zero days, lol. 😊 Happy planning and Buen Camino!! 👣

Haha, KFC is good ol’ American comfort food. 😂 Well, not really, but it worked in a pinch! I wish I knew about the market-I would have looked for it. Next time!!

If not for the rain, it was my ideal hiking weather (I’m not a hot weather hiker, lol)! The rain just made everything so cold. So glad the videos are helpful for you! Buen Camino! 👣
