  • In this video we took a broken and tired #Peli Case, exchanged it under its lifetime warranty for a new one, and then re-organised all of the existing tools in #ShadowFoam. It took one standard sheet of Shadow Foam to complete this project costing £23.99.

    Cool to see actual use cases. I have some ideas on how to implement Shadow Foam in my shop, thanks to your demonstrations at Makers Central! Thanks for sharing!

    Your foam looks great, but (though distressed and made with inefficient tool spacing) the original divider trays are absolutely amazing. So rigid and some of the best hybrid designs with the back metal I've ever seen.

    • @ShadowFoam
      @ShadowFoam  Před rokem

      Our newer foam since this video is also rigid and dense, allowing tools to be held firmly.

    What the name of the divider trays?

    Do you need extra backing material for the removable trays? or is the foam sturdy enough to support the tools by itself?

    • @ShadowFoam
      @ShadowFoam  Před 4 lety

      Depending on the weight of the tools, you can get away without a backer, however you can add one for extra stability. If you don't want that, check out Easy Peel! It's sturdy enough to make trays from! 😊

      Just ran into my own comment on accident. Easy peel sucked. Looks and feels cheap. Almost like packing foam.

    While I love the way the foam holds the tools, the stacking concept within the case is hugely impractical. To work on a bike or whatever,, you would essentially have to remove every layer and have them later out so you could access the tools as needed...

    • @ShadowFoam
      @ShadowFoam  Před 3 lety +2

      Most used tools on the top layer, then less used further in the case. This doesn't work for everyone, but you're right, sometimes you will have to take the top two layers out to get to the right tool

      Sure beats the time it takes finding tools in a box with tools just throw in though

    • @Jimanderson124
      @Jimanderson124 Před rokem

      How is this impractical. This is very well organized and pull out the tools you needed in the slot with ease, rather than your trash digging box of shit.

    Cutting out a circle all the way through the foam on opposite corners would make it a lot easier to pop each foam tray out.

    How did you get the foam to stick in the lid????

    • @ShadowFoam
      @ShadowFoam  Před 2 lety

      General adhesive would do the job, nothing too heavy but generally if it's cut to fit, it wedges in there snug.

  • @snosrfr71
    @snosrfr71 Před 3 lety +1

    Without handles to lift the foam layers, this is not very practical. Have you solved for that?

    • @ShadowFoam
      @ShadowFoam  Před 3 lety +1

      Our new product Easy Peel is much more suitable for using as trays. It's a rigid foam so there's no need for handles or reinforcing with a tray underneath

    What would you recommend to attach the foam in the lid with? I have a similar set up with my box and the foam has a habit of falling out the lid when I open it! Double sided tape? Some form of spray glue?

    • @ShadowFoam
      @ShadowFoam  Před 3 lety +1

      We have used a number of techniques to do this, it depends if you want a permanent solution. If you do, we have a spray adhesive that we sell on our website. Alternatively, we have used strong double sided velcro, this means you can take the full insert out form the lid if you want to.
